The dried Asian Pears are killer. Expensive, but worth every penny.

You can’t miss K&J at the Sat Farmer’s Mkt(they have a Tues booth, too). It will be the busiest stand at the market facing Boulette’s Larder. This is the BEST place for cherries, figs, peaches, apricots and asian pears. They have these totally rare varieties like strawberry peaches, white apricots, Garnet cherries. After tasting their cherries, I can’t eat them from anywhere else. I’ve eaten 2lbs of their queen anne cherries just on the ride home — they are that good. Their O’Henry peaches are also really sweet, juicy and large. Anyway, if you want to taste what a fruit is meant to taste like, buy them here.

K&J Orchards has a booth at the Tuesday Ferry Building farmers market out front and the Saturday Ferry Building farmers market in the back. They have the BEST peaches called«strawberry peaches» but they are only available for what seems like a week in late summer. They are white-ish on the outside and pink inside. They are the BESTPEACHES I’VEEVERHAD. They also have very good cherries and figs.

The guy who mans the Tuesday market booth is friendly in a gruff way. Offering samples is not quite what he does, he’s a bit pushier than that but not in an obnoxious way. I guess you gotta be a salesman, right? Any way, great selection of Asian pears, pears, plums and cherries. With this past Fall, they had these really great baby pears that were just so sweet and cute and perfectly sized. Definitely a booth that I make a stop at.
