Canyon Creek Resort

Ok now that the new car smell has gone away and the test is over we can truly hear all the road noise per say. This place needs some overhaul.
Not that it’s a total loss as others have mentioned in their reviews, I was just looking through rose colored glasses when I wrote my first review.
The location is beautiful, because it’s nestled in a canyon with the Putah Creek running through it with an abundance of wildlife and Lake Berryessa just up the road. But Canyon Creek Resort has been run down for some time now and they keep bringing in new members and not putting and money into it to make it look or feel like it’s in this millennium.
Out of all the campsites just a small handful are 50 amp and now days most RV’s need 59 amp, and it’s first come first serve so if you need it and it’s not available you’re out of luck. So if you’ve traveled from afar bummer.
My hopes for this somewhat beautiful park is that these owners will open up their wallets for their members and make it the park it could be.

Supposed to go camping next weekend with my family but due to the fires it looks like the trip is cancelled :(Aside from that, this place is awesome! I went to visit for the first time on the 4^th of July. My family are members and so I got to experience all of the cool perks that come with it. What a lovely place! I think the best part is there is an adult pool aside from the kiddie pool! That is so smart! All in all very impressed with the sight and it was a fun drive getting there!

OK so the place is rustic, and crowded in the summer. We have been owners for over 10 years and love the place once school starts and fall hits the place is great. Not crowded sites by the river are available and staff are nice.

Nice place the staff however is a different story when I noticed the bathrooms needed so attention they turned round and said in a not so nice voice yes we know bathrooms were messy and dirty they have been like that for 2 days before I could get to talk to somebody
Parking next to your RV is a challenge you have to stay within the post so make sure you get a big spot
They tried to charge me $ 4 a night when I know I pay $ 1 no matter what the season they were very rude if I could I would never had paid to join this place

Paid $ 4,000 for membership and we’ve had to fight for almost everything that was originally promised to us. Management and some staff are very disrespectful. There’s very few full hook ups on the creek side and those are usually taken. We wish we would have applied our money to a thousand trails membership instead, at least we would have had access to nationwide camp grounds. And you can get RPI through them too.

We were shopping at Camping World in Vacaville back in late March, picking up a few items for the used trailer we had just purchased. A nice lady approached and offered to enter us in a «free drawing». Okay, sounds great.
A few weeks later, while we were in Utah, wo weeks into a four week trip around the southwest in our new to us trailer, another nice lady called to tell us we had WON! A $ 1000 value membership! Woo hoo!
She then proceeded to ask a few questions… including income and employment status. Well, at the moment, hubby is unemployed (by choice!) and I am a housewife, so we have no income or employment. The lady wasn’t so nice now… apparently you must be employed or retired to win this.
Not sure how legal that may or may not be, but anyway, seems short sighted to me. We may not currently have an income, but we had just paid cash for our new to us trailer and we were on a four week vacation with it when she called. I THINK that might indicate that we JUST MIGHT have a bit of money in the bank?
Oh well, their loss. We love camping in our new to us trailer, we love spending money and we will NEVER EVER be camping at any of this company’s parks now.

My husband, four children, and our neighbors (a family of 5) took our trailers up to Canyon Creek last Sunday. We were referred by a friend and really looking forward to the prospect of becoming members of a campground that was close to home and close to the lake.
Upon arrival it took awhile to get registered, then the husbands were taken on a tour via golf cart by a maintenance man because the woman in charge got pulled away. There were no sites on the water and also no full hook up sites available. We took the two best sites directly next to each other.
My first complaint is the sites are SMALL, and when I say small I mean you can barely put your shade awning up on your trailer let alone have space for your trailer, firepit, chairs etc. Because we had two sites we each parked at the farthest edge possible and used the space between as a shared rec area as we had 7 children with us.
The nights are very quiet, too quiet. Besides one other family we were the only people out of our trailers with a fire, everyone else was elderly and stayed in their RVs the entire time.
The pool was freezing, but clean. The kids had a good time on the play ground and swimming.
It came time for the presentation in which we were only presented with ONE option which included multiple locations around the country. Never were we offered the package that included only the two home parks. We were then told if we left the room the price goes up $ 1,000 and that was non-​negotiable. At this point I already had a bad taste in my mouth. Not only did the presenter have the attitude of that she was doing us a favor by even presenting us with the information but she basically only spoke to one person in our group. In addition her butt crack was a full 3 inches exposed the entire time while our 7 children were present. As a group we decided we wanted to go to lunch and talk it over.
Once at lunch we found several people selling their memberships on craigslist for thousands less then the price we were offered. We went back to inquire on if she could match that price in which there was lots of prices and pressure thrown out in addition to a very snotty attitude. At this point I wanted to discuss with my husband and children to decide if we really would use this membership to our full advantage as we prefer camping at several other lakes. We decided not to buy, as did our friends.
The woman then proceeded to come to our campsite to confront us saying she was offended no one came back to tell her we declined… Pretty obvious to me, we said if we were going to buy we’d be back to see her. Also at the time she came back to our site she was willing to drop the price an additional thousand dollars.
I found her not only unprofessional but also disrespectful with the way she continued to say she could not do things, then later magically could…
We would have been willing to buy if we had a better experience with our sales person, but now have a totally bad taste in our mouth and will happily continue to fork out the $ 70 per night to camp at establishments where we are valued customers.

My husband and I purchased a new Airstream, and received a free weekend of camping here. Canyon Creek Resort is nestled in a lush canyon where the Putah Creek runs through. We took advantage of picking a site by the creek, giving us a tranquil babbling brook to wake up to.
We understood that there was a sales pitch to purchase a membership to the resort, and had no problem with that as we were getting free camping. We decided to become members after looking at the cost-​benefit, proximity of the resort to Lake Berryessa, Napa, and Davis/​Sacramento, the Bay Area, even SF, it’s beautiful location & amenities, and finally their friendly & personable staff. Quentin & Val were very informative and professional, sharing the advantages of membership without high pressure tactics. We even saw the owners tending to the landscape and painting around the grounds, showing dedication to the upkeep and improvement of the facility.
The outdoor patio, where they cook a delicious wood-​fried pizza, overlooks the grassy area with a playground, bocce ball, horseshoes, and pool area with an outstanding view of the creek, where you can kayak or fish in. We went hiking with our chocolate lab in the hills above the campsite. It was a challenging hike, but the views were magnificent!
Canyon Creek Resorts provide sites for RVs, tent camping, cabins, and in the near future, yurts! We are now proud owners and look forward to spending time at our home resort and participating in the various activities they have planned.

We have been members for several years. We first joined after a bad experience at a public campground and while Canyon Creek isn’t perfect it does have its benefits. The staff are friendly and helpful. The park is always clean and there is never a lack of things to do. We have been there when there was water or electricity problems but the dedicated staff worked hard and long to correct the problem. We have found it best to arrive before the crowds and avoid holiday weekends. The pizza is pretty good too

This place should be a 4 or 5 star but is run by complete incompetence!
We are Members of Resort Park International. I believe they should remove this park from there offerings.
1^st — I called 7 weeks in advanced to reserve because we were driving 10 hours to get here and didn’t want any surprises. You can not book through RPI you have to call the park direct (this should have been my 1^st warning).
2^nd — I called and spoke with a young woman and made my reservation. I asked if she wanted a credit card to reserve and she stated that isn’t needed at this park. (this should have been my 2^nd warning)
I called the Wednesday before the Saturday we were due to arrive to confirm my reservation — No one returned my call.
I called on Thursday several times until I got a person to answer the phone. I explained that I had a reservation for Saturday and asked a few questions about the park. All seemed ok.
We arrived about 4:20 pm on Saturday and parked where directed and walked over to the office as directed. The office had a closed sign on the window? I asked another camper and was directed back to the office with the closed sign. I went inside and there was no one there. I called out several times and a lady came out of the back with an annoyed look on her face. I told her I was there to check in and she called someone on a radio. I was then directed back across the street to a run down guard shack. There was already someone else there waiting to return there rec room equipment. We waiting about 10 minutes for the ranger to arrive. He took care of the person in line ahead of me. Then he asked what he could do for me. I told him my name and told him I was there to check in. He had no record of my reservation. (REALLY?)
I told him I made the reservation weeks ago and confirmed it on Thursday.
So he proceeded to check us in and we were informed there were no full hook up sites available for RPI members. (REALLY?) I informed the Ranger we had driven 10 hours to get there and was not happy with this situation at all.
We got checked in — i actually had to tell him how much we were supposed to pay
We got parked in a pull through site. I figured I could speak with a Manager in the
morning about the full hook up site situation.
The park was very scenic with a creek running along side with lots of wild life.
There is a WARNING on the guard shack about RATTLE SNAKES IN THE PARK!
On Sunday morning I got up early and was walking around the park. I saw a couple in the full hook up area packing up to leave. So I went back to my trailer to hook it
back up and disconnect so I could move my trailer. I went and informed the office that I was moving to a different site and gave them the new site number.
So now we have our full hook up site and we site out to explore the park. We were informed by two different employees that the Hot Tub was not working (groan)
I went and checked the pools which both look nice but are so cold they are unusable. I spoke to Management about the Hot Tub and was assured if was working you should have to cal ahead 30 minutes so they can open it and turn on the heat.
So the next evening I walked up to the guard shack — called ahead and asked to use the hot tub. My wife and I drove up to the hot tub and when we got in it was about 90 degrees (groan again) — Not only that but the water was disgusting — lots of dead bug floating in the water and what looked like white insulation floating around as well.
Needless to say we left after my wife took a cold shower in the rest room (no hot water there either)
So this ends my review — we did stay until the following Sunday and checked out several other RV parks in the area for our next visit to California.

What can we say… What turn out to be a great weekend of anticipation was nothing but a flop. The minute we checked in set the tone. The main criticism I have for this organization is… please know what the right hand is doing because the left hand might
get away!
We felt so embarrassed for the gentleman that was checking people in it took
Him one hour and a half to check us in.
This was supposed to be an impressive resort with a luau and all the trimmings… By the time we went to our site our site was taken… To our dismay the only site big enough for two families together was the one by the bathrooms. What a sad state of affairs then comes the presentation for the camping time share the next day … When the presenter says … You dont have to watch that dumb movie… We looked at each other like… Ok… then he walked us through what I call a mini car dealership routine to
What we said a big fat NO.
No time share buying at an unprofessional company. But what can we say… We got free camping for the weekend oh yea and a free bottle of wine! Yey! Needles to say… We. Will stick to our KOA camping where we know we have a secured spot no matter what time we get there. if there was a –2 star rating I would assign it.

Our family «won» a free three days and two nights stay at Canyon Creek. We did not know that there was a provision or stipulation in this winning in the way of sitting through a (at least) 1 hour speech to try and sell membership. I have a Masters in Bovine Scatology and read through through it very quickly and easily. When we first arrived, they drove us around in a golf cart to view the park, stopping and waving at every campsite on the way through. That’s not too terribly bad, I’m just not personable with people I don’t know. We located the spot we would like for the weekend and set up camp. Our spot had 30a service with on-​site dump. We spent the evening Friday and the day Saturday in peace and quiet but come 5:00p on Saturday, their marketing man came to our site to give us the speech. I had previously informed this individual that we aren’t interested. We had won this trip and I am forcing them to live up to that agreement. He went over parks, he went over memberships, he went over price. Then he acted as if these thousands of dollars for membership were nothing. I’m not poor, but I’m not rich either, and I’m not putting 4k-​15k on a credit card. The guy never got the hint: WE ARE NOT INTERESTED… WE WON A TRIP. Even after we left the park on Sunday, he kept calling to get us to buy. He kept mentioning that 8 out of 10 buy. Well I guess we’re the 2 out of 10 that can read through the bull s&%t. The location is okay, outside a nice little town of 3900 people. The park is okay depending on where you are. We were up on a bluff in a quiet area and although we kept to ourselves mostly, we got out and did some hiking, sitting by the creek, checking out the clubhouse and playground. They get a review of 1 star because of the subversive tactics used to get us in the park and then give us their crap about membership. The only time I ever won anything that had provisions was when I won money and had to pay the IRS. Bad move, CCR, bad move. We will not be back and we will not refer anyone to you.

We always enjoy our time at Canyon Creek with camping and walking along the river. They always seem to have something going on each weekend such as karaōke or other planned events. We look forward to it each time we go.

I have been a member of Canyon Creek Resort for several years. I belong to RPI and Coast to Coast also. «The Creek» as we refer to it is my choice destination. It is simple and very enjoyable. We usually camp down by the river and enjoy beautiful views of the river passing by and the mountains in the background. The pool (s) are fun during the summer and attract a fun family crowd. I hardly ever run into someone that is loud or a troublemaker in the park. Security is very tight and it shows! The bathroom facilities are clean clean clean. They have been recently remodeled. The sites for the most part are level. I have never had any power outages or water problems. My kids and grandkids love the place. There is an abundance of wildlife and you never know what you might see. During the Winter I’ve seem trophy bucks standing in the park and woke up to 15 or so turkeys at my trailer door. The geese stop every year and you see them flying overhead daily. Last time we were there we couldn’t find the otter or beaver but did see 7 woodpeckers. The clubhouse is average but fun get togethers there. I do wish the store had longer hours but that’s always been an issue during off periods. There are a wide variety of activities for young and old. I don’t know what to tell anyone who doesn’t like this place. I guess we won’t see you later.

We have stayed at Canyon Creek and love it. It is a little older and rustic, but to us, that’s the appeal. No sewer on the creekside and that is California rules, not the resort. The upside area has full hookups, hot tub and another adult clubhouse. We just use one of the 2 dumps and never wait when along the creek. We have a 50 amp bus and can use the 30 amp and just watch our usage inside the bus. Of course it is crowded on summer weekends, but what isn’t? The 2 pools are clear and clean and we like that they have the adult pool. The lower clubhouse and store are nice. If we wanted city type amenities, we would go to some concrete pad golf place. That is where the snooties go anyway. The security is on the job, pleasant, fair and we have NEVER had a problem or been woke up at night. If you don’t have security, then you really have a problem. CANYON CREEK IS AN AWESOME PLACE, NOT PERFECT, but if you like camping, go see it for yourself and make your own decision. Easy to get to and Winters and the lake are close by.
The only charge is after 1 year of membership, a $ 99/​per qt MAINTENACE assessment. Reasonable. When you meet with them, listen to what they say, if you are unsure, then ASK.
If you like fishing, DELTA SHORES is pretty basic, but nice.
$ 4 PER NIGHT FOR CAMPING. I AM A MEMBER and just wanted to set it straight.
I have been to campgrounds all over the west and you pay a lot more for a lot worse.

Hooray! Won a free one year membership to this resort and they brought us in to hear the further pitch on increased membership. We stayed on the creek, just after the dam forming Lake Berryessa. Quite scenic, and bucolic, the trees were changing color and the weather was nice as Putah Creek bubbled by.
This weekend we sampled beers at Berryessa Brewing down the road about 5 miles from the RV Park, and we attended a music show at the Palms in downtown Winters that was pretty awesome. To round out the weekend, we did a little gambling at Cache Creek Casino about 45 minutes away.
Park was pretty much closed down for the season though, the store and restaurant were closed. It was kind of dusty as the roads are not paved and there is no grass at any of the sites. The lower sites only had 30 AMP hookups and no sewer — too close to the stream we were told! When we went to leave the dump station was closed as it was full. We had to use the upper dump station, and when we drove in to check it out before hauling our rig in, we went down a one way road the wrong way. One of the residents came out of his motor home to yell at us going the wrong way — hello it’s Monday and there are no cars moving around so we’ll just keep going the wrong way. Once we got back near the office the lady on duty came out and flagged us down. She pointed out we went the wrong way. We apologized and said we didn’t realize it until we were half way down the road — she replied I saw you look right at that sign and keep going, she pointed, we looked, and oh yes a one way do not enter sign that we hadn’t noticed. Well okay we already went all the way around the road but please berate us for driving the wrong way through an empty RV park, especially us the owners of a new one year membership that we can use any Sunday-​Thursday period during non-​holiday periods that we were considering upgrading to a regular membership.
In reality, it’s a dumpy little RV Park next to a putrid, slime filled stream, slowly flowing past the camping areas that we won’t return to anytime soon.

We love this place! Not only is it beautiful, we camp right next to the river, and its perfect for the whole family! There are 2 pools, one for kids, and one for the adults, also a playground. The rec room is awesome for playing pool, or hanging out with friends. We love the fact that there is almost always fun stuff going on here. They have live bands, karaōke, wine tasting, BBQing, and movie nights. They have a little store on site where you can get beer, sodas, snacks and ice. They even have pizza you can buy that they cook outside in a fire pit. They have showers that are clean, and hot! I hate going camping with dirty showers and cold water. We enjoying everything about Canyon Creek. The staff is friendly and very helpful in everyway. They even have some cabins we can rent. We are planning our next camping trip, and we cant wait.

BUYER BEWARE… Purchased a travel trailer last year to get out of the house more during the summer. We were given a free 2 night to this campground with the agreement to a presentation/​sales pitch. We actually decided to purchase it for a discounted rate because they are also affilates of RPI which gives tons of options to camp. We were informed of the yearly maintence fees. It has now been a year and I just found out that those fees are only for the Vista Resorts 2 parks, only because I received a bill from RPI and called to find out why. It is very upsetting to find out a year later that basically I purchase the membership and pay the dues for ONLY 2 parks, unless I pay RPI yearly dues also. That WAS never told to us in our sales presentation. This park is in need of much upgrading, dump stations are always broken, electricity is hit and miss in the summer, pools dirty, club house is in terrible condition and the maintence of the park is not kept up. The regular staff is very nice (cleaning and kitchen), however the managment/​sales people need to work on there attitude and honesty. They do not keep promises and they leave out important things in the presentation once you have signed there contract and given them your money. We were promised free passes for friends and family, however never received them. We did brings friends once only after they agreed to a sales pitch. It is just an average place. We spent most of last summer there because it s close to home and my job. After this finding not sure I will return there as often.

After being turned away from Lake Solano Park and campground (see my review here:
) we were fortunate to stumble upon this private campground nestled just below Lake Berryessa dam on beautiful Putah Creek. We arrived late and the on duty ranger showed up promptly and was more than willing to accommodate my family. Typically this is a members only campground/​resort, but the ranger took us in as his personal guests. The facilities were nothing special — typical of a mid-​rate campground and RV park, but they did have two clean pools, a well equipped store, and decent restroom facilities. There were two modest lodges complete with pool tables, big screen TVs, and the required deer heads mounted on the walls. They offered karaōke on Saturday night and with the group on hand, anyone could feel like a rockstar. What really set this place apart was the wonderful friendly staff and that earned them the 4^th star. Be forewarned, while we were fortunate to avoid this they may attempt to give you a sales pitch for membership, although based on what the ranger told us the membership rates seem reasonable and membership can be transferred to your children.
