Yum! Ordered the sampler(off-menu). It was perfect for two people. Every meat was delicious and flavorful, but the pulled pork and brisket were my two favorites. Serious biker scene with lots of good bike ogling going on outside.

Love this place. I was a regular when I lived in Bangor… Came back after 2 years away, and the food quality would hold up easily in higher priced DC or Boston places. Split the sampler with lady friend, had left overs. I’ll be back next time I’m in town. This place is no joke.

The sampler is fantastic for people sharing or for people who can’t make up their minds! I would recommend 2 samplers for 3 people. You do want seconds don’t you? Everything is thrown in and what a delicious mix. The brisket was the highlight for me. I did enjoy my first sampling of turkey, but eat it quick, it loses it’s moisture fast. The cornbread was a little too dry & crumbly for me(I think it was this batch, I’ve had better cornbread here before!) The sausage was great and the ribs tasty, the pulled pork a bit too saucy, but very moist. It is nice to have the four +1 sauces to try with the meats, but you still need a hot sauce! Though there was a slight tingle to xxxMaine, I want a kick! Friendly staff and great price for the sampler $ 25

I was visiting my parents in Winterport for the second winter this January. Both times I found not many places were open to shop or eat. Both times my parents suggested this bbq restaurant but as they aren’t really«foodies» I wasn’t easily persuaded to leave the warm house and venture to a possibly mediocre bbq spot. I live in San Diego so braving 10 degree weather takes a lot. Finally this year after several days of them saying we should go I agreed. I am happy I did! We had the sampler platter and the three of us barely finished it(they should charge more)! The food was nice and smokey, tender, and I was especially enjoying that everything came dry rubbed so I could try all of the house made sauces. The owner was friendly and helpful also. Anyone in doubt of the quality of bbq in Winterport needs to check this place out. My favorite was the baked beans!

This is a legit BBQ joint for Maineiacs. The website boasts that the BBQ master is a Sooner State Transplant(that’s Oklahoma for those of you on the east coast) so you can expect the meats to be a little more smoked(like Texas) but you still can find pork and turkey(midwest). What’s cool about this joint isn’t the live music that plays on Saturdays in the evening or the $ 0.01 budlights on wednesdays or the plethora of photos on the wall of famous classic-rock and blues musicians, but rather: the mashup of sauces available to you. Visiting from Carolina? Here’s your mustard/vinegar-based sauce. Memphis? Here’s your pepper-forward sauce. Kansas City: brown sugary goodness awaits you! Texas: here’s your bland tomato sauce(sorry, Texas, I’m a midwesterner) and for the Maineiacs who just aren’t quite sure, there’s even a Maine XXX(it’s sweet, not spicy). We ordered the sampler platter which came with beef, pork, turkey and sausage as well as rolls, cornbread, coleslaw and potato salad(both mayonnaise-based). It is a TON of food, but two hungry people can do it. I was really bummed because the Texas brisket and the KC pulled pork were not on it and they were the two items I really wanted. The sausage was incredible but the turkey was not for me(I never come to a BBQ joint to eat white meat). Also, if you’re a fan of burnt ends, this is the place for you(calling all Texans!) but alas, as a midwesterner, I want the juicy meat and I didn’t find it here. I’m hoping it was just because we came at an off hour when lunch was over and dinner hadn’t been prepared. Only knocked a star because it was still really good and we cleared the plate all but the turkey. If you’re in need of some BBQ, I definitely recommend hitting up historic Winterport for 4Points — it’s worth the drive.

Again been to a lot of rib joints in last few years, including 4 out of the 10 best on most top ten list. By far the best BBQ around so far! Plates averaged $ 15 – 17 with a full rack at $ 24. Service was great and fast. A lot of heart and hustle. Food came out in less than 10 minutes(and correct) after finally figuring things out and ordering. I had high hopes as soon as the kids and I test tasted the sauces on the table. I like a bit of heat so the Maine XXX was the best followed by KC, Memphis, Carolina, then Texas. They set the bar pretty high trying to mimic the various BBQ regions and styles. Could have really fallen flat but they did pretty damn good. Atmosphere was nice. Since it was Friday, they had the live band going outside which just added to it. Sides(slaw, beans, cornbread) including the sweet tea was really good. Almost felt like I was down south. Company ordered some turkey which was tender, flavorful, and juicy. Kids got me upset ordering a hot dog which was disappointing of course but what would you expect. She ended up eating off of everyone else’s plate. I had chopped(pulled) pork and ribs. The pulled pork was nice and held up well with sauce added to it, not overly dry. Now, finally to the ribs. Cuts of ribs were on the slim side, could have done better with larger ribs. Bark and ring look nice but over all could have spent a little more time on the grill(at a lower temp?) to achieve a deeper, fuller flavor and tenderness. Should have come off the bone a bit easier but definitely on to something. Enjoyed ourselves a lot and will keep going back. Definitely also moved up on our fav place to eat around town. Will be going back to support the establishment, have good food, and a good time. Jim and Chris seemed like really nice folks and have some heart to put into the business. Wish them success because it will only get better for us.

Stopped in because of the reviews here on Unilocal and once again I’m not disappointed with Unilocal. This place was great, the owner is very nice and serves up an excellent brisket. Loved the sauce options. Would stop again if in the area!!!

I’m blown away by how tremendously good everything is. The bark on the brisket in particular. I’m drooling thinking about it. Literally salivating like Pavlov’s dog with the bell a ringin. They make their own BBQ sauces(5 of them) all from scratch. The Carolina is out of this world. Food came out in literally 5 minutes. Very friendly staff. Amazing outdoor concerts that aren’t too loud.

Love this BBQ! We went on Sunday and I had the turkey while my boyfriend got the burnt ends. We both got beans and slaw with our dinners. The food was very tasty and the burnt ends are the best I have tasted! Can’t wait to go again soon!

Went there for the first time this weekend. This is the best BBQ I have had north of Nashville. The restaurant us small so I recommend reservations. The owner/waitress/chef is awesome. Definately recommend,

It’s OK. Meat was cooked properly, but lacks in flavor. The sauces all taste like variations of the same sauce. They try to give them regional names(like texas, kc, carolina, etc.), but having been to most of those places and being from the south, they are way off. They should have done there homework on that. It’s kind of an irritant when places do that. Hell, even in the carolina’s there are 3 different regional styles.

We were in town visiting friends of ours and they took us here for dinner on our last night. I wasn’t sure what to expect as far as BBQ in the«Middle of Nowhere» Maine, but let me tell you, this place was great! The kids got hot dogs off the kids menu, but my husband and I each ordered a 2 piece meat plate so that we’d be able to better sample the menu! He got the pulled pork and chopped beef with the corn bread and baked beans and I got the chopped hog and brisket with the potato salad and southern slaw. The meat was some of the best BBQ I have had and while I cannot compare it to what you would get down south, it certainly beat any place in the North East that I have gotten BBQ food! They offer a variety of sauces from Memphis, Texas, Carolina, Kansas City and a spicy Maine variety called XXX Maine! They were all really good but my favorite was the Texas mixed with a little Kansas City. We were the only ones there at the time so it was nice and relaxing, especially since there were 7 kids between ours and our friends! The place was clean and the waitress was super friendly, including chiming during a performance of Old McDonald with all the kids. Definitely worth checking out, I don’t think you will be disappointed and if you get the baked beans, make sure to dunk your corn bread into the sauce! YUM!
