My wife and I finally visited Swine and Sons tonight after talking about it for quite some time. We both loved the ambience and décor as it’s very rustic/southern in look and feel. Seating is limited to a couple tables and some bar space along the window so I’d recommend ordering to-go if you’re planning on visiting during peak hours. They have a smaller menu of sides, salads, sandwiches and drinks. We got the Mac and Cheese to share, a couple home made root beer, my wife went with the shrimp sandwich and I got the roasted turkey sandwich. The root beer is some of the best I’ve ever had, easily worth a visit. The Mac and Cheese isn’t much to write home about. For $ 7, you don’t get much and it’s nothing special. Pass. The shrimp roll was a 5 out of 5. The combination of flavors(citrus of the grapefruit and orange) with the shrimp was delightful. The plain potato chips were tasty. The smoked turkey sandwich was a 3.5 out of 5. It’s a packed sandwich, no worries about feeling hungry afterwards. The aioli combined with the avocado and jam was a happy thing. Outside of those flavors, the sandwich is pretty normal. The barbecue potato chips were pleasantly seasoned and tasted really good. We’ll definitely visit again. There’s a tiny market area with some drinks(beer, wine, soda, condiments, ice cream and cookie dough to name some of the things). I didn’t try any of the brews this time around but plan to next time. It’s worth your time.

My husband and I had already been to Cask and Larder so we were looking forward to checking out the more casual Swine and Sons and since we had a Groupon why not. The Pastrami sandwich was excellent(which we had been craving since moving from NYC), wine was awesome and the service was good. We will be there again soon!!!

I do not know how I had not managed to eat here prior to my experience this week. I’ve heard nothing but positive reviews, and finally decided it was a good day for Swine & Sons. As I am often in a hurry, I could not eat at the establishment, but decided that while I was taking care of errands around the area, that I would pick up lunch — so I ordered ahead using their website. First, my order was perfect and I only wished I’d ordered more biscuits — that was my fault. Second, my order was perfectly on time. I arrived at the establishment 5 to 10 minutes before my pickup time, and it was done and handed to me exactly at the time that was promised. So, their online ordering system is, in my opinion, perfect. Regarding the food — in short, it blew me away. I ordered the smoked turkey sandwich and my boyfriend ordered the cuban sandwich. Together, we ordered 3 biscuits(should have gotten 6) and a side of their mac ‘n cheese. Both sandwiches were spectacular and large enough to really satisfy. I loved how their mac ‘n cheese had a pinch of spicy(maybe hot sauce?) flavor that was not overpowering, but complementary to the creamy cheese pasta. To keep it short, go here. Eat here. Order from here to go. You can’t go wrong. I am really looking forward to ordering their breakfast items as I could and will eat breakfast at any and all times of the day. I couldn’t punch holes for this place. And neither will you.

I had been on a search for a good bowl of ramen. When there was an announcement of Swine & Sons’ ramen pop up event, I knew that I had to be there. The staff were so kind and informative. I had a blood orange mimosa. It was so refreshing so was the sake with elderflower. At 5 p.m., the food was served. I was really nervous to eat the beets with miso vinaigrette. But it was so delicious. Next, I had the steamed bun with brisket and eel mayo. I devoured it. I was ready to eat Himitsu Buta ramen with country ham and shoyu miso. And it didn’t disappoint me. It was perfect. I waited to eat the jasmine-passion fruit macaroons at home. It melted in my mouth. I couldn’t believe it was that good. Before I left, I grabbed Southern Cuban sandwich, a jar of pickled okra and a pint of ice cream. And they were so yummy. I can’t wait until the next ramen event.

We had two disappointments right away. I had been drooling over a couple of pictures on Unilocal, the pastrami and the stout brownie, so I had those on the brain when we walked in this past Wednesday morning. No on the pastrami. They are in the process of making more and the nice employee told us it takes about 10 days to make more. Darn it. Well, I’ll get a brownie at least. Nope. No brownies this morning. She suggested the brownie mix. Oh alright. I’ll take that 10-dollar mix and bake my own brownies. Sheesh… it was still a 5-star experience. We ended up with the classic ribeye hotdog($ 9) with their house made ketchup, ipa mustard, and pickle relish &BBQ chips, the avocado toast($ 8), an almond croissant($ 3), a macchiato($ 3), and a pint of porter($ 5). We got the drinks and croissant right away and absolutely inhaled that croissant. Fantastic. The hot dog and chips were delicious, in the 5-star range as well. I love the fact that everything is made in-house. They do a great job with the pickle relish. OK. Now for the avocado toast. This dish is nothing short of spectacular. It is house made bacon, tomato relish, arugula, avocado, & a soft boiled egg on grilled millet bread. Pretty to look at and even better to eat. I almost swiped the whole thing away from my husband. 10 stars. If I lived here, I’d be here all the time. The young woman working the counter was friendly and patient with all my questions. Super place. Winter Park is a food lovers heaven anyway, but this place is special. Definitely stop in if you’re in the area.

Recently checked out the newest member of the Ravenous/Cask family in Winter Park. Tried the Southern Cuban, BBQ Chicken Flatbread, Ranch potato chips, and Beet Salad; all were delicious! I would highly recommend this place!!!

We went here recently and I feel like some of the excitement I had from our initial visit has fizzled out. Mainly because that fried chicken sandwich was nowhere to be seen on the lunch menu. BOO. I tried out the Smoked Turkey sandwich and wasn’t wowed. I only ate half. And the housemade potato chips that I received with my sandwich looked like the end pieces from the bottom of a potato chip bag. We had the mac & cheese yet again and for $ 7 I’m skipping next time. The portion seemed skimpy from last time. Only thing I was genuinely happy about was that cheddar chive biscuit. Not too sure I would come back for a full meal, maybe more for the«provisions» and dessert items(that oatmeal cream pie!).

Swine and Sons is a part of the Ravenous Pig family, so I’m not surprised it was delicious. My dad has been raving about this place for weeks now and he finally took me for an early dinner yesterday. I had the Warm Smoked Turkey, topped with a tomato jam that was insanely good, fresh arugula and avocados. It was very tasty, and loaded with flavors. On the messy side, but honestly, I have a way of making a mess out of ANYTHING, it’s a gift. I would give it a full 5 stars, except that my father’s meal was a bit under cooked. He got the Rib-eye Hot Dog and it was weirdly soft and mushy. The natural casing was difficult to cut through and the inside like I said was mushy. My dad is NOT one to send food back, so he just dealt with it, but I think if they had cooked it a little longer it would have been good. He still swears by it though, it wasn’t his first time getting it– and I’m sure next time we go he’ll get it again. The shop was interesting. There is a small room with windows to look in and see their cured meats hanging. Along with curing their own meat, they have/sell house made condiments —(assortment of pickled vegetables, jams etc), giving the shop an organic feel.

Tried this place after finding a good deal on a Groupon… and I must say I struck gold! Popped in for lunch and had the southern cuban. A combination of roasted pork, collard greens, pepper jam, and cheese… awww man what a fantastic marriage of flavors! Served with homemade chips and a sassy pickle. Lol! My boyfriend had the original ribeye hotdog but was not a fan. Loved the décor. Super cute and cozy with little odds and ends available for purchase. Prices are a little bit on the higher side. Hot dog was $ 8 and my cuban was $ 11. Overall they get my seal of approval :)

Nice quaint deli style eatery and market. Beautiful inside with more seating then I expected based on the previous reviews. Ribeye hotdog was tasty along with the turkey sandwich with avocado. The sandwich had so many dimensions of flavor the only thing we disliked was the bread it was served on. It was very hard maybe a bit over toasted? The macaroni and cheese was also very good.

Like a southern bodega, this place is another genius concept from the Petrakis power couple! I love that I can bring some of my favorite foods from their kitchen to mine in the a la carte section and definitely recommend their sea salt carmel semmifredo(as if ice cream could get any better), the garlic pickles(which have a ridiculous spice) and the cheddar and chive biscuits(although these are much larger and cheesier then the ones served at Cask). I am absolutely in love with the«southern cuban» sandwich which combines roast pork, tasso ham, collards, pepper jelly and swiss on masa bread. It comes with two halves and is the perfect size to split with someone if you add a side. Sadly the house chips that always come have either been under-cooked or under-seasoned and the side of mac n cheese we ordered was way to rich and creamy for my blood. The other draw back that keeps me from coming in every day are the prices of all these foods which I would expect to be $ 1 – 2 less since I’m not getting the same sit down experience as their other restaurants. They do carry Cask beers in house to enjoy or take as a growler which is awesome! There are a few tables of varying sizes and bar stools at the window so you can come with the whole family, but try and only take one car as the parking is limited.

Swanky Sandwich Gem of a place located in the heart of Winter Park, right next to the Infamous Cask and Larder. I came here on a lovely Sunday afternoon and as soon as I walked in I immediately felt the warmth effect of southern comfort. I observed the industrial vibe, the eclectic music playing in the background, and who does not love the sight of fresh butcher style sandwiches, or just having access to a plethora of Butcher style meats is astounding. Score! I decided to order the Southern Cuban. What exactly does this sandwich consist of? Fresh Collards, Pepper Jelly, Swiss Cheese, Tasso Ham, Perfectly Seasoned Roast Poark, on Masa Bread. I pretty much scarfed down this sandwich in a matter of ten minutes. Yes this place is what I consider the perfect lunch spot, and apparently it seems like it would be the perfect breakfast spot as well. It’s great to see an establishment take pride in their ingredients. I could taste the unique blends of ingredients as I was eating my sandwich. Side Note: To all my sweet tooth lovers out there! Please beware of the fridge that contains a significant amount of homemade ice cream and homemade cookie dough. Oh and do not even get me started with an Ice Cream Sandwich that contains Key Lime and Blackberry as a combination. Seriously Sweet-Tastic! If you are looking for Southern Hospitality with a Twist, well then you hit the Jackpot with this place.

I love everything about this place. Can’t wait to come back.(The thought crossed my mind to come back for dinner, but decided to wait until next weekend maybe ;-) I have to be honest, I was a little skeptical because I’m not a fan of Cask & Larder(been twice)…but I was blown away! You would never know such a delicious sandwich shop was here. It blends right into its surrounding businesses well. I had the Fried chicken sandwich that had a perfectly balanced marinade between BBQ, hot sauce and fried heaven. I got the pickles on the side and ordered the ranch chips.(The chips come in a paper bag that you can take home and eat later if you end up eating too much like us). My boyfriend had the Italian sandwich and it was delicious! We agreed it was a bit large for one person, so we might split something in the future. The music and environment in this place is so cool… so unique. I’m definitely making it a regular place to lunch at! My only complaints is that their prices for sides are a bit too expensive, and everything is a la carte. Would be nice to have combos or something to ease the price. Also, they will soon be open for breakfast, but not on the weekends. Boo. :(

Overall, I like this place but not convinced I’m a true fan just yet. Although their Fresno sauce certainly has that power — tell you more about that in a moment. The store was empty at early Saturday evening when we came for a casual dinner. The café/grocery store was darling and just had the right country finishes with a touch of glitz. As a it is part of the«Swine Family» group(C&L, Ravenous Pig.) I had to say I had great expectations coming in. After all, those other places put out some good food. This visit I tried their House Pastrami, Italian, and also some House potato chips. Not surprisingly they make them all in house — way to go! Being how good some of the previous Pastrami sandwiches looked, I felt this one was a little underdone. I’m not oppose to rare beef slices in a sandwich but I was expecting the tender but cooked beef with fat. It was more soft and a little gristly than I imagined to be. It could have been really good. Also, I thought the chips were seasoned perfectly, however, it must have been sitting just a little to long because it was on edge of being a little stale/hard. Maybe it need to be better containers. I’m sure it would have tasted fabulous if it was fresh and for chips that is hard considering this is a quick eatery. One thing though — their fresno(???) hot sauce. BOMB! I literally can dip anything in there and eat it. So good. It is available free to try when dining in on the table. I gotta remember to go purchase a bottle next time. Prices for all those were very reasonable at about 10 bucks a sandwich for quality ingredients. Service was nice but not too warm. —- disclaimer —- the following is a rant and has really nothing to do with the rating of the store. The food portion and service stays at 3. One thing that I must say that I am annoyed at is their play of words and usage of «Blue Pig Specials». There are daily limited(maybe?) plates for serving of one with main entrée and side items at about $ 17. It’s pretty steep for a takeout ish dish for one.(Yeah I“m a cheapooo) I think its fine, however their use of «Blue Pig Special» which resembles the term of «Blue Plate Specials» which was coined because of the daily specials at specially LOWPRICES that changes daily on these blue trays. At $ 17 dollars doesn’t exactly scream low price to me. Maybe to others in Winter Park. They should just call it Daily Pig Specials and eliminate the«Blue» because rather than invoking a feeling of nostalgia, it is embarrassment of the restaurant themselves to feel like they are poking fun at other diners/cafes.(((OKRANTOVER!)))

ANOTHER wonderful addition to the James and Julie Petrakis Swine Family. It features all the wonderful artisinal house cured meats, seasoned/marinated meat, local ingredients, and even beer that their restaurants have, that you can take home. I went in for a late lunch with my gf and a friend. I ordered the pastrami and it was perfect! Level 9000! Complete with a smoked sour kraut and an IPA mustard. Amazing balance of flavors! The charcuterie plate was also amazing. Perfect sampling of their house-cured meats and their pickles. After lunch, I went back to the counter and bought me jar of those delicious pickles, a pair of crowlers of beer, and some truffle burgers to cook up for the weekend. There is minimal seating, so it gets crowded at lunch, but the early afternoon was perfect for a sandwich in the store. The décor is primed to achieve your perfect barnyard chic pinterest pin or instragram pic. It includes the photogenic multi-textured wood grain table to frame your delicious food. I’m definitely coming back to get me some ribs to cook at home and couple more crowlers of beer.

I had the roasted turkey sandwich to go and wasn’t much impressed by it. The bread was soggy which made me believe that these were already pre-done and not freshly made to order. The avocado in the sandwich didn’t help much either making it more mushy. I wasn’t too sure if there was something on the bread or jam/sauce but something was overly fragrant and overpowered most of the other ingredients. I also had an order of the ranch house chips. The first few bites were fast but as you get more into it, it just felt too greasy. I couldn’t even finish. The décor was pretty cute inside and the flow works for what is sells. I may come back to try the pastrami sandwich as that was the other item I was struggling to pick. If that becomes a disappointment as well I may have to cross this place off my list. Until next time.

The Petrakis’ have the corner on Fairbanks and Orange Ave. With Cask & Larder next door and The Ravenous Pig down the road, they have what is going on to be a mini empire(*insert theme music here*). Not that I’m complaining! I love The Pig and have enjoyed C&L back when they had lunch. Now for the food at Swine and Sons. The moment I read the menu I had my eye on the pastrami and rye(rhyming not intended). I ordered the pastrami which also came with sauerkraut, mustard, and Swiss cheese. We also got a bag of BBQ chips to share. I should have figured the Pastrami would be more of a Southern take rather than a New York deli style. It reminded me more of ham and was much chewier than say the pastrami on rye I had at Katz’s deli. The BBQ chips were great with a subtle smokiness from the seasoning they use. Seating is limited with a table for 4, a common table and a row of stools facing out to busy Fairbanks. I’d like to give it another shot though I wouldn’t get the pastrami again(I’m more of a Née York style girl) but I’d love to see a rotating sandwich menu and their blue plate specials look appealing. For now, it’s a cute spot that lives in the shadows of its older brothers, The Ravenous Pig and Cask & Larder.

Located in Winter Park, adjacent to Cask & Larder. Wish I could give Swine & Son’s more than 5 stars! I had the pleasure of checking our S&S during a media preview, then returned 4 more times over the next week or so, to order just about everything on the menu. Lot’s of tasty grab and go beverages, snacks, bakery treats, freezer goods and crowlers chilled and ready to go. The butcher counter features delicious house cured charcuterie. If you like cured meats, you need to swing by. I picked up a charcuterie plate to go, it was greatly enjoyed and appreciated. Added cheese for an impressive starter that easily feed 4 people very well, with the addition of extra bread and crackers. Sandwich fans rejoice, each item offered is delicious. The Italian is loaded with those house cured meats, the smoked turkey is hearty and yummy, the Pastrami is house cured & zippy, the tuna was yummy and the grilled pimento cheese(with or without bacon) is delicious. Be sure to grab some house made chips($ 3) the bag is enough for 2, very crispy, not greasy, SO good! Loved the chocolate stout brownie(chill it! OMG) and the Caramel coconut macaroon. Cheddar chive biscuits are amazing. Really loved the Cold Brew coffee from Blacksmith Brewing, a nice robust flavor. If you want a warm entrée, check our their daily«Blue Pig Specials» which can be reserved in advance. Finally, if you like to cook, don’t pass up all of the cool pantry items like Anson Mills grits, rice, beans, Rav Pig and Cask & Larder jarred sauces, pickled veggies, rubs and frozen breads and biscuits.

Swines & Sons is a neat concept and great addition to the Ravenous Pig and Cask & Larder family. Upon walking in I was glad to see that there was a decent amount of seating available for dining in. We were lucky enough to beat the crowd, because ten minutes after we ordered a throng of people arrived and tables filled up quickly. A nice selection of pressed sandwiches, sides, and beer(32oz crowlers available for taking home as well) are available. I went with the Italian(house cured meats, giardiniera, fontina, herb aioli, baguette) and my fiancée ordered the Southern Cuban(country ham, roast pork, collards, pepper jelly, swiss, masa hoagie). The Italian was good in flavor and had was a bit spicy. The Southern Cuban’s pork was sweet and tender. I liked the Southern Cuban better than my Italian. Next time I want to try the Smoked Turkey(tomato jam, avocado, brie, sunflower sprouts) and buy some of their charcuterie and duck confit to bring home. In addition to dining in, there are many good available such as pepper jelly, pickled goods, meat rubs, hot sauces, etc. The butchery has cured meats and even duck confit available.

5 Stars because house-cured meats, homemade condiments, and the ability to get this tiny lady to order and enjoy FIVE sandwiches in one lunch. That’s not to say that the sandwiches were small– far from it! I was with a group and we Mmm’d and Awwww’d for 10 minutes straight while we took bites from each sandwich. Walking in you’ll notice that S&S is part butcher shop, part mini market, part lunch counter. Seating is limited, so be ready to order to-go and head over to Park Ave for a picnic of note! Thoughts on the sandwiches: — Southern Cuban: $ 8, country ham, roast pork, collards, pepper jelly, Swiss cheese, on masa bread. A southern take on a Cuban sandwich– Many have tried, few have succeeded. They KILLED it. The pepper jelly adds a sweet tartness that is reminiscent of the traditional mustard but goes waaay beyond. Perfection. A new favorite! — Olive Oil Poached Tuna: $ 8, lemon, olive aioli, radish, cucumber, pea tendrils, niche bread. This is a true elevation of a tuna fish sandwich! The white bread is a nod to the sandwiches your mom packed you for lunch but the resemblance ends there. You’re immediately taken back by the large chunks of tuna. This ain’t out of a can, people! Then you start to get the olive oil and lemon notes and you can’t help but smile while you bite down on the pea tendrils(which look as cute as they sound). Two words: Blown Away. — Italian: $ 9, house cured meats, giardiniera, fontina, baguette. Though this didn’t blow my mind quite the way the first two sandwiches did, it was a good contender. And at that price, you’d leave lunch stuffed! — House Pastrami: $ 8, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, mustard, marble rye. DANG. This one knocks you out when you first try it! It’s an explosion of flavor beginning with the pastrami and ending with the sauerkraut. Tangy, thick, and oh-so-addictive. I couldn’t stop munching on this one! Obvs this place is about to enter as a new favorite in Orlando(er, Winter Park). I was there on their second day open — a Saturday– and they were packed! Next time I’ll be sure to also order a growler of the Cask & Larder beer(which is literally the size of my torso.).
