This is my favorite place to get jerk chicken! I’ve also had the pork but, in my opinion, the chicken is hands-down the best! The jerk seasoning is so tasty and a bit spicy, which I love! The meal comes rice(with a choice of two, I typically choose the rice and peas) and cabbage, although I opt most of the time to get double cabbage. The only thing I can say about the meal is that I wish they would serve more chicken. I usually go for the dinner portion but still get just a few pieces less than what I would deem an appropriate dinner portion.

It should go without saying but if you don’t like hot, stay away from jerk! My MIL thought she’d play it safe and order chicken soup but one bite of the delicious thick stew sent her guzzling water. She was happier with the milder flavored cabbage, rice and plantain sides. H. and I, who like spicy food, were very happy with our lunches. H. had the ox tail. My spinach-based callaloo wasn’t on the limited menu but was offered when I asked if they had anything vegetarian: quite tasty. Service was fast and friendly. Our 2 lunches, soup and 2 bottled waters came to under $ 25. Not bad for a full, warm belly and clean sinuses!

Best brown stew chicken in town. I completely cleared my plate. The chicken had the perfect amount of spice in it. I even loved how the plantains were cooked. It was almost as if they were fried. My chicken was very tender and served with minimal bones. I paid $ 7 and it was a great value for the amount of food I received. Can’t wait to come back!

My third time here and it never fails me. Today I had the salt fish with rice & peas. The fish was ABSOLUTELYDELICIOUS! WOW! The owner came out to chat with my bf and I. He is very friendly and approachable. As always we had a great meal.

I live 5 minutes walking distance from this place so I often visit. I find that l the quality of food has been decreasing. The food is often undercooked or poorly flavored. Also, the diversity of options aren’t that great for a Caribbean restaurant. If you are truly seeking a good experience with Caribbean food I would recommend Golden Krust. If it is sub par quick food, then this place will suffice. I must say they pattee’s are consistently good.

I wanted the place to be good due to the reviews but it seems like it’s outdated. Be wary of the curry. It could be that I was unfortunate, but my curry chicken meal ended up coming back out where it came from. Plantains were also greasy.

On this side of town Jamaican cuisine is very limited and to find a good restaurant is very rare. Jamaican Jerk Spot does not fit my standards of expectations for Jamaican Cuisine. I’ve visited this restaurant various times and each time came various questionable situations. My first visit to Jerk hut i purchased the Jerk Chicken with peas and rice and cabbage. The rice was burnt and i only received 2 pieces of chicken and the cabbage was watered down. The total of this meal was almost reaching $ 10 because I also purchased a drink. The quality of the food does not meet the expectations of the cost. My second visit to this restaurant I purchased a Curry Goat with peas and rice and cabbage. I was not surprised to find that the goat contained mostly bone and the rice was again burnt. In general this restaurant has to change it’s quality of product along with customer service, The employee by the cashier is always nonchalant and doesn’t perceive to me as friendly. I would not be returning, and would gladly take my money and purchase a more authentic Jamaican meal at Marks Caribbean Cuisine located 5 minutes from this location !

I like this spot, but they’re always sold out of many of the menu items. If you are craving something specific call before you go. Very good veggie patties, roti and ackee+saltfish.

This a long review but here is the short version if you don’t want to read it all. Entrées that we got and cabbage were good. Rice with beans and plantains kind of dry. Business practices of this place seemed off. Not intending to visit again. If you want the whole story keep reading. I don’t have a lot of experience with Jamaica not food but I have a lot of experience with restaurants and this place left me wanting. I went with my boyfriend because we were trying to find a new place to put into our lunch rotation and we were passing by. When we walked it it was obvious that this place used to be a Japanese restaurant because of the set up. I found it funny but that didn’t deter me since I understand remodeling can be expensive. Even though I understand trying to save a few bucks it would be a good idea to take down the faux wall that blocks people from seeing the counter when they walk in because with a wall and host stand in front of you an impression is made that you are waiting to be seated. A man, I later figured out that he may be the owner/cook, called out to us to come in. We walked up to the counter and some one else finished up their order then left. It ended up being just us and one other guy in the place besides the two workers. The«menu» was all the entrees written on a blackboard, the kind of one that people put out in front of their restaurant to advertise specials, with no mention of sides or prices. We stared at it for a bit and figured out what to order. While I was trying to decide I felt a little uncomfortable because with nothing else going on the guy and the cashier woman were basically staring at you. I got the goat and my bf got the oxtail. The man suggested large and we just said okay because we didn’t see a range of size until after we paid. The man also if we wanted rice, and cabbage and again we just agreed to it. When the cashier rang up the order it came out to $ 22 and some change. I know my bf got a little sticker shock, as I did, but we paid for the food. One thing that I saw that supports one person’s rating from a 3 months ago about the food being pre made is that once the transaction was made, the man went to the back and I could see him in a window pass through looking like he was just dishing stuff immediately into containers out of a pot and a large roasting pan. We sat down while we waited for our order and I finally saw some boxes labeled express, regular or medium, and large(wish that had been on the menu board). The cashier brought us our food in Togo containers with forks and napkins, then we dug in. The oxtail and the goat was tender and delicious. The cabbage was nice. The dish came with plantains, which I love, but these were not what I am used to. The plantains seemed like they were either dry or not cooked enough. The rice and beans side dish seemed dry as well, with the beans definitely hitting a dry note. Okay here is the part where I want to add that the business side seemed off. A couple came in when we were finishing our food and the male customer looked the same menu board that we looked at, no prices or sizes and all, then asked if those were the lunch specials. The guy said something like«Those could be the specials» or something like that about the items listed. The customer kind of asked again if those were the lunch specials to clarify what possible cook/owner said. In the end over a short negotiation to make sure he got the couple’s business he offered them large meals at a 10% discount. That kind blew my mind. We sat there listening to this thinking if we had known this was a haggling place we would have done the same. Once we were done we handed the trash over to the cashier(no trash can) and left. This wasn’t the worst meal I have ever had but for almost $ 23 you want everything right. Of course you also don’t want to here people coming in behind you getting random discounts while you are still in earshot.

The best Jamaican food I have ever encountered! My bf and I came from NY to Florida for a week. So here I am searching for Jamaican food. With 4.9 ratings by google we knew we had to go to this place for dinner. After a tiring day at universal, we drove about 45 mins to come here It was 8:30 pm and turns out everything has run out! We were told only ox tail and curry chicken with roti are left. And I was so upset about that but I knew we WANTED the last two dishes left. Some people might think that left over food is probably bad or not fresh, but that was NOT the case. We were given our food and we devoured the food within minutes. The ox tail was soo juicy and tender! You could taste every bit of the spices and freshness of the meat. The chicken curry was spicy, just the way I like it, and full with flavor! We were so content! The cherry on top has to be the roti they serve! It was real Guyanese roti and it was huge! The roti with the curries of the meat was just mouthwatering. I would recommend everyone to come and try this place! It will not let you down and don’t make a mistake by coming late at night like us because food does run out! And the reason is they cook fresh everyday! So nothing from the day before is used for the following day. The guys on the counter were so friendly and accommodating which made our experience even better. It was a wonderful experience and worth the drive! We are going there on our last day in Florida, earlier, this time to explore more dishes like their patties, goat soup and much much more. I highly recommend this place!

The best Jamaican in town! Well by the time we got there, few of the things I wanted to try were sold out… But for me it’s always a good sign for a little place like that. They did have the best jerked chicken though — tons of flavor and a bit on the hot side which I love. The guys who work there were great — very personable and fun. Have to get there earlier next time for their patties and roti.

This is the first real Jamaican food we have had since relocating to Florida close to 9 months ago. I just so happened to come across The Jerk Spot by searching«Caribbean» on Unilocal & turns out we were about a half mile away. Lucky us! It was so delicious & satisfied our craving. We will definitely be back.

You don’t have many options for Jamaican food on this side of I-4, and happily the food here has been good the three times I’ve been here. Well, mostly. Two of my three visits(once for lunch and another time for dinner) they were out of jerk chicken. I understand that it probably happens occasionally, but they’re only managing a success rate of 33% for me, and after dozens of visits to Mark’s and(up until last year) Millie’s, I never once saw either of them out of jerk chicken. At any rate, on my most recent visit they were out of jerk chicken and my wife doesn’t eat pork, so I got a meal of the jerk pork for me, curry chicken for her, and then I got an «express»(small) size container of oxtail to split because she had never had oxtail before and I wanted her to try it. Of course, like any other Jamaican restaurant in the area, you get enough food that you’d have to be starving to even come close to finishing. This is mostly due to the approximately 4 cups of rice that comes with it. The flavor of the jerk pork was excellent — like that of the jerk chicken, if you’re lucky enough to get any. The problem I had with the pork was that it was almost entirely fat and bone. Hopefully I just got an unlucky scoop, but without exaggeration 80% of what I got was pure fat or solid bone. Perhaps the other places I’ve been to have gotten rid of the fat before it makes it onto the plate, because I’m accustomed to at least 80% pork, not 80% «other». The oxtail was pretty excellent all around, though. Not as spicy as the jerk pork, but still packed with flavor. I wish I had ordered that as my meal — oxtail generally has a lot of bone, and it’s pretty fatty as well, but it still had a much higher percentage of meat than my pork did, and that’s just crazy. When I’ve been able to order the food I wanted, I’ve enjoyed it(except for the jerk pork with practically no actual pork). All the same, I personally prefer the food at their east side competition.

Recently enjoyed a meal with my husband here, he had the curry goat, I had the ox tail. Both were awesome! The oxtail was tender and spiced wonderfully. The goat had a little more of a kick spice wise but equally as good; it was also tender and there was not an over amount of bones in it. We shared a spicy beef patty as well which was flakey and wholesome. I could totally eat a few of these just for dinner. The staff was friendly and there was not a long wait to be helped. We will be back for more.

The jerked chicken and wings is the real deal. I get it with extra jerk sauce which is nice and spicy. I will be a regular at this place.

I went for lunch the other day. The place was empty so I got great service. I ordered the jerk chicken, peas & rice and cabbage. After reading the other reviews I was expecting the typical Caribbean restaurant wait times. Lo and behold the food came out in under five minutes! It was great too. The chicken was mostly wings but the seasoning was really tasty. The cabbage was good too(although I prefer mine with a little Curry kick). They even threw in a couple of fried plantain slices. I can’t wait to go back and try their patties or their roti.

This place is definitely the spot for Jamaican food, Oxtail, Curry Goat etc. and their patties are awesome. The patties are my test and they have it down to a science :). I am glad they moved closer to my work place. The owner is also really nice.
