Working that microwave! Holy cow… it’s suppose to be BBQ! How can you cook my BBQ in a microwave???

BarBQ has gotten competitive here in metro Orlando . I had the chicken dinner today. All white, cooked perfectly, great taste . Three sides, all greens. Also perfect. Employees patrol the dinning room, offering refills and help . Great food, great employees who care.

Who doesn’t want a $ 3 pulled pork sammy on happy hour, right? I’m a long time customer of the other locations, UCF, Kirkman, and Altamonte Springs, but this was my first time here after years and years of thinking about coming to the original spot. They weren’t cheap with the pork sammy on special and customer service was well over the top. Really was. The pork was nice and they have really good sauces, a full suite of them. And our fries were fresh hot dropped, that’s always a plus. There’s plenty of parking around the cool looking property and an unexpected and very shaded picnic area out back. Nice touch.

Generous portions, reasonable prices, great sauces and extraordinary service. They were especially friendly to us, and even paid me a few compliments! They have a great $ 3 pulled pork sandwich on happy hour. You get a really good serving. The meat was juicy. They have different sauces. My favorite was the Porkasaurus. I slathered it all over my sandwich. 4.5 stars

Not sure where any negative reviews come from but I had chicken, ribs, with 3 sides(who even does that anymore)? And thought all was great! I’m born and raised in TX, but travel 40wks a year now so can vouch for both TXBBQ and most other states in the US, and will simply say I’m impressed. Not quite to the level I want to touch myself, but almost. By touch myself I mean rub my stomach in happiness you sicko’s. Oh and to those bit**** about 10min wait times, BBQ by definition at least in Texas is not fast food.

Bubbalous has been around for a long time; since my high school days. They serve solid Southern BBQ which can be classified as ‘wet’ bbq. That is where they smoke the meat then put BBQ sauce on the meat. They serve also a mayo slaw which goes along perfectly with their BBQ beans. Of their menu options my favorite items are the lunch sandwiches. You can get a good meal for ten bucks including a drink. The sandwiches I like are the pulled chicken, pulled pork and the catfish. However if you like a little more there are specialty items on the menus at each location such as the Porkasaurus and the Extreme Porkasaurus for those who are very hungry. They also have a ‘pork sundae’ which is the pork, slaw and beans all stacked on each other.

Underwhelming though there’s a ton of hype around this place. It’s been around for forty years and has a strong local following. Food is in no way… bad… but it wasn’t especially good either. Sweet potato was fine, fried catfish was not terrible. When arriving home with our food, we realized that they forgot to include a bunch of our sides. Meh, I wouldn’t go back.

Slow, arrogant staff. Leaners too cool to take orders. Wait 10 minutes with NOONE in line and Bruno Mars too busy chatting up girls. Kitchen staff only comes out to hang with friends. Been here 20 times, EVERY visit worse. Go to the other locations, Lee Road is too busy doing their own thing to bother with your food.

I love the piggy. I especially love it smoked low and slow for 12 or so hours. Visiting my Mom here in Central Fla, I had to go hunt down some BBQ of the piggy kind. Pulled Pork was my hankering. I was born a Southern Boy and I can’t find decent Pork BBQ back in California, and so when I’m here in Fla I just have to satisfy that BBQ tooth. You know the one, right next to the Banana Pudding tooth. So I ordered up a pulled pork sandwich with aside of Jalapeño Cheese Grits, and a side of Collard Greens. Anywho, Bubbalou’s serves up a decent pulled pork sandwich, though I could have done without the bread. Come to think of it next time I’ll skip the bread and order extra pork. tip: Use ½ of the mustard based sauce to ½ the hot red BBQ sauce for the proper combo of tart mustardly spice ratio. I need to tell those folks. The Jalapeño Cheese Grits were damn good. My Mama wanted to taste them but sorry I told her, step on up to the counter and order your own. The Collards were just plain nasty. Folks in California can’t cook greens for squat either. Bubbalou’s puts something gross in there that I just can’t figure out other than it makes the greens disgusting. It really isn’t so hard. Take a mess of greens chop em them up and wash well. Throw into a pot of salted boiling water. Throw in a smoked ham hock, a whole peeled onion, a mess of garlic cloves, some peeled and chopped carrot and cook till the color looks right. Olive green for old timers or happy green for folks who like the flavor of happy collards. I also throw in a smoked jalapeño for a nice kick. Fresh greens from the backyard are the best. Don’t throw away the potlicker. Drink it up for a tonic that will cure what ails yah. I recommend Bubbalou’s, just skip the collards till they try out my recipe. Now I’m hungry again.

It has been two years since I last tried this barbecue joint. I swore I would never go back because of the poor quality food. I recently heard however that the former owner had taken charge of the restaurant and The barbecue quality was wonderful. Wow, was that bad information. We ordered the sliced pork and found that it was completely flavorless. There was no barbecue or smoked flavor in the meat. On a bright note the barbecue sauce was very good however this could not make up for the lack of flavor in the meat. I will not be fooled again and will not return.

I wouldn’t recommend anyone to eat here. It isn’t anything to write home about. Atmosphere outside is nice to have a drink.

Turkey sandwich with fries and coleslaw. It was good. I went for lunch and with a tea it was just under $ 12 so a little pricey for lunch. The turkey sandwich was good but thin. For this price you would expect more meat. They recently remodeled and it’s nice. Can get crowded at times. Parking and tables might be limited during rush times.

This place is pretty awesome! Had an employee party here once and they’re super quick about getting the food to you. The portions are very generous! The employees are pretty cool too. The location is kinda funny and not easy to get to if you are coming off of I-4. Prices arn’t bad either.

Totally redecorated. Great lighting idea. Super-clean & spot-on service by ladies who know their stuff. Get the fried pickles, the okra, the sweet potato tots, and definitely the jalapeño cheese grits. Definitely. Yum.
