Armstrong Air & Heating

Is very hard to receive the news that you have to replace your AC. That was me last January. Right after the holidays when money is tight. I started my research and calling friends and family for recomendations as well as my internet research. Armstrong Air & Heating was one of the companies i was referred to by one of my neighbors. To make you the story short i received quotes that went from $ 2,800 to $ 7,800 for the same issue. It was so frustrating that everyone will tell me something different and I didn’t know who to trust. I am definitely not an AC expert and as a single mom there is always a concern to be an easy target for someone that wants to take advantage of you.
Tom Hyatt came to my house and all my fears and worries went away. I felt treated with respect and specially i felt i was being told the truth. Tom was very knowledgeable and took the time to explain everything is very simple terms so i will understand. He also did his best to offer the right unit that will cover my needs and didn’t try to sell me on something more expensive or unnecessary. He asked question about how long I planed to stay in my property and what kind of warranty i wanted to increase the resell cost of my house. At the end, Armstrong was not the cheapest or the most expensive but was the only one that gave me the confidence to invest my money wisely.
The following week Armstrong’s team of installers came over to install the equipment. Two very well mannered younger gentleman arrived on time at 7:00 am and started working right away. The did an outstanding job taking care of every little detail. They even swept my floors before leaving. They took care of everything and they were done by 5 pm. That is what i call «Same Day service»
I am very happy with my purchase, my AC runs great in the cold and now the heat. I can even control it on my phone. I am very pleased and happy and I will recommend Armstrong, Tom and his team to anyone.

After much analysis — of central HVAC units, that is — I selected Armstrong from a number of well-​known competitors for price and reputability. Their brand new and larger Carrier unit replacing our old York system (which lasted 18 years after but a few repairs) was good from the get-​go. I also made sure to take out Armstrong’s reasonable extended warranty — giving me 10 vs. the standard 5 years of all parts and labor coverage. That’s where the first problem arose: trying to get a copy of the contract which Carrier (still) holds. After much ado and many phone calls to their sales manager, things went off without a hitch, even when we placed a few service calls. Recently we had another repair job involving the costly fan motor ($ 1,100) and two service techs, one a bit arrogant, the other very well-​versed. They have three who service this area, and rather promptly I might add since all our emergencies have occurred over the weekend and late at night. No surcharge for any, btw, just the normal (uncovered) service fee (which keeps rising). Their receptionist is a very nice and smart cookie from NYC, and their other people are just as pleasant. However, I recommended this company to someone right after our own unit was installed and never heard the end of it. I thought Armstrong would wind up giving them their unit free or taking it back; they really bent over backwards for this incredible fussbudget. (He had measured the decibel level of his outdoor unit running in relation to his guitars curing inside. I kid you not.) Granted, there are all kinds of customers too. Unfortunately, Armstrong does not offer any 15– or 20-​year warranties. I bet one would have to ‘stop a Trane’ to find that animal any longer. Overall, Armstrong’s fair, reliable and … still in business.
