Very good very friendly didn’t try the lobster. Unfortunately I didn’t have a lobster option that was available to add on to a meal. Either had to have lobster or something else as an entrée. I’ll have to come back and try the lobster next time. Add on! The night after I eat this meal I was awoken with horrible nausea. I almost felt like trying to make myself vomit. I think I got sick from the clams. I’m not 100% sure but I don’t think I’m going to eat here again.

Have been coming to Maine in the summer for over 40 years. The Lobster Trap was a dinner tradition for many of those. After this years experience we will not be going back. If you order lobster or steamers, it’s wonderful, as it should be since lobsters are the specialty. One of our party ordered sautéed shrimp — –inedible. Little tiny«Maine» shrimp that tasted frozen! Hot dogs are no longer offered for the kids. The clam chowder was cold, had no seasoning and was all cream and flour. A real disappointment! In its favor was the wonderful waitress and outside dining. We won’t be going again.

Beautiful day to eat on the deck. The waitresses couldn’t have been finer. We were asking about a local business we were looking for: the waitress came back with their phone number. Excellent fresh warm rolls. My husband’s fish sandwich was oppulent with fresh fish. The unimpressive hamburger roll was burnt and too wimpy to hold the fish. He said the fish with tarter sauce was very good. The baked haddock was beautifully presented. Tasted bitter and was raw inside but I was too hungry to ask the waitress to bring it back fo finish baking it. The seasoning was over salted. The broccoli was a little rubbery. The Gallagher Fries(potatoe wedges) were the best part of my meal! I enjoy the relaxed atmosphere out on the deck and the waitrwesses. We’ve eaten here before and will come again.

Wish I could give a lower rating… we had to wait over an hour for them to even take our order because they neglected to tell us until after we had ordered the first time they were out of specific food they then had to return a second time to tell us our second choice was out of stock thus having to order a third time before even getting food in stock. Very poor communication skills from the person in charge(there was no manager on duty odd for father’s day at dinner time even though it was slow) to the rest of the staff. When asked about this situation after we finally got served and ate(2.5 hours later) the person in charge was very argumentative about the situation claiming it’s been a busy day. That is no excuse for being rude to a customer. We used up a gift card this evening and don’t plan on returning any time soon.

Wish I could give this less than one star. Went to their web site, reviewed menu with their prices online stating that Monday and Wednesday were senior citizens 10% discount days. At the restaurant we received the Menu and found the $ 9.99 Lobster roll was $ 12.95. The ½ and ½ Clams and Scallops priced at $ 9.99 on web site was $ 12.95. We asked why the price difference and was told they recently opened and web site had not been updated. My wife’s lobster roll was frozen, microwaved and tasteless . My «dinner» was 3 Scollops and 5 Under cooked Clams. Rolls were microwaved and rubbery. At the end of our meal we received the bill which I asked if the senior citizen discount had been applied. The waitress went back to the kitchen and came out and informed us that senior citizens discount only applies to Wednesdays. Needless to say we won’t be back. I hope you read this before going there. Save your Money and find a decent restaurant that cares about their customers.

We moved here a few years ago from the Midcoast and were in need of a good seafood place. Unfortunately, this place isn’t it. We tried it when we first moved and were unimpressed — I don’t remember what we ordered, just that it was pretty poor. But, my daughter and I had a date night recently so we decided to try it again. I ordered bourbon glazed salmon with rice. If you like the taste of seafood, this might not be the place for you. I actually had to scrape the layers of sauce off the top of the salmon just to get to it. All I could taste with every bite was the sickly sweet tang of that sauce, not the salmon. And you’d think that since my daughter and I were the only ones in there, the service would be quality but it seemed we ruined the waitress’ night by showing up. Two poor experiences, terrible seafood and never again. I’d recommend taking the extra hour and head to the coast. If that’s not possible and you’re desperate, hit the chain seafood restaurant off the southern Waterville exit, it can’t be worse.

The staff was not interested in serving us at all. We waited for over 10 minutes and no one approached us to offer water or anything. We decided to leave and still no one even noticed or maybe they just did not care … And it smells bad

Big disappointment. We usually go to the Lobster Pound in Londonville on the coast for lobster, but with family in town we decided to try this place after reading the reviews. Things started off bad with clam chowder that was filled with starchy lumps of thickener, a few bits of potato and no noticeable clams. Then the lobsters came, overlooked and the meat dried out. What a waste of what could have been a delicious creature. If the kitchen was as poorly staffed as the waiters, one for the whole resturant, then I can understand why the food was prepared so badly. Needless to say, we won’t be going back.

A few locals recommended checking this place out so thought I would give it a shot. What I liked most about the Lobster Trap was the outside views were pretty amazing and the steamed lobsters are pretty good as well. Their chowder here was cold as others stated and I really wasn’t a fan of the chowder anyways. The other downfall to this place was the service was pretty slow especially for the place not being busy. It took about 45 minutes to get my food out to me and our server also didn’t come around much.

Appetizers among guests were a good Clam Chowder, lobster stew, fried clams average but well received with seasonal Chock-top wheat beer. No wine list, house wines, but full bar. Lobster doubles about 1 ½ pounds each were 23.95, 5 out of 7 at this table had these. Semi-soft shell right now, well prepared as always. Sides of summer squash mashed like potatoes were surprising not bad, baked potatoes, salads average. House special Del Monico was average, stick with consistent value priced lobster dishes. Blake & Megan provided such excellent service otherwise food was average 3 star.

Ate dinner here going through Waterville. Eat outside if the weather is nice; inside, it smells nasty but outside there is a lovely view and a breeze off the river. Food: Great. I had a steak, cooked to perfection, accompanied by nicely done french fries. Mother had boiled lobster, was fresh and very good. Service: Meh. They brought the food, it was hot, then they sort of abandoned us for the rest of the meal; I had to track down the waitress to get the check. Ambiance: Sat on the deck watching the sunset, so quite pleasant. Don’t eat inside though. Overall: Good place as long as you’re willing to hunt down the waitstaff when you want anything. Food makes up for the service nicely.

Theres No reason for this restaurant not to be Packed full of hungry patrons. With that statement I will tell why its not… We ordered the Mussels for an App. very good clean an free of ye grit. Entress, my girl ordered the Maple bourbon Salmon with Rice pilaf, the Salmon was covered like a mofo in the sauce no wonder this fish never made it upstream the heavy handed sauce is the culprit, it hid all the goodness that salmon is all about… the rice Im sure its a packet or canned… I ordered the Bourbon grill steak with baked potato and squash, again the Steak was run amok in way to much sauce also it was left on the grill a lil to long in english it was burnt then drowned in sauce to protect the innocent… If the owners dont wake up there customers are gonna seek out far better seafood venues to which there doing Now because there parking lot is always chock full of employees vehicles… Improve Now!

The Lobster Trap is an old school lobster place with an amazing outdoor deck overlooking the Kennebec River. The steamers were excellent and sweet. The shrimp cocktail was OK. I was happy to see Captain Eli’s root beer on the beverage list. The lobster salad was excellent. The boiled lobster is very good. They make a good baked potato(not a gimme in a restaurant like this). Service is friendly. This is a pleasant seafood oasis inland.

Don’t let the name fool you; good seafood is not to be found at this establishment. Our seafood was cold, and when we reported it to our waitress she offered no correction. Instead, her reply was«I’m only a waitress.» Then, we were advised no manager was on duty. Skip this stop, and keep driving.

Well you can’t go wrong ordering a lobster, which is good, because if you’re going to be called«Lobster Trap» it better be the main event. Buffalo shrimp were heavily breaded and fried in a regular oily buffalo sauce. The vegetable«option» to fries with your dish(it’s the only vegetable they offer) is like eating orange cardboard. That’s the bad news. Lobster is done well always and sizes are reasonable. And the lobster rolls, for those not worrying about their waist line, are really pretty great. The fries are damn good, as are the fried clams. So it’s the place in town if you’re in Waterville and don’t have time to drive to the coast an hour away.

Everything you can hope for in an authentic Maine lobster house. Twins are a great deal(if you don’t mind the disassembly required). Get out on the deck on nice days!
