Valley Photo Studio

I have rented this studio once myself and have worked there several other times with other projects. I love the convenience and prices! I am local in the valley and not only LOVE not having to go over the hill to get a good studio at a reasonable rate but the studio it’s self is very comfortable and has pretty much everything I’ve ever needed. Wonderful well lit makeup and hair room with air conditioning, a steamer, clothing rack and many other simple amenities. There are also snacks, water and drinks that are conveniently located right on set. There seems to be everything you could need for lighting, backdrops, multimedia and any other technical needs can be addressed by the owners. The fact that the studio is 24 hours is literally a saving grace and as long as you remain respectful of the fact that it is a residential area you will love your experience there!

We did a photoshoot here on July 18^th. We arrived at our arrival time at 8pm, but there was still another client using the space so we waited for about a half hour longer. We came in, and the studio assistant (which was Kim I believe) was extremely friendly, helpful, and showed out photographer Chris the layout. The space was big, fully stocked with a sturdy white backdrop, but also had photo paper setups. Everything was really nice and modern, up to date, remote controlled. The studio provided refreshments, a bathroom, props, and easy to use amenities. We asked Kim if we could go over our scheduled time since the previous client took longer, and she said it was fine.
We had a blast. We were left alone to our devices, weren’t interrupted at all, and got a variety of shots. Chris Martinez, our photographer, worked efficiently and quickly, as everything in the space was clearly labeled, well laid out, and available for his use.
I HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone that is on a budget, but would like a space with a ton of flexibility, size, and accessories. You will not regret it. Definitely will come back again.

We shot a green screen project here. Mark and Kim were great. We got to the studio early. They were very accommodating and helpful. Reserving the space was easy. This studio has everything we needed — lighting, green screen, sound system, dressing rooms! And, you can’t beat the price. We will definitely be back.

Recently was a model for a regular client and we shot in this studio. It is a great pro setup and I will definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a great location with everything you need at hand, especially after I found out what a great deal it is!
As a model, it was comfortable and clean, there were lots of drinks and snacks provided, and we had a great catered meal that was prepared there as well. We had a long full day of shooting and this is a great place to work in! Hope to shoot here again in the future!!!

I’ve done makeup at this studio for a photoshoot & it has a nice makeup & hair station for us make-​up artists. The only problem was that it was HOT in there! Both my model & I were sweating, there was no air on. Other than that, it’s a nice studio.

I rented this studio for a small project. It is VERY well priced for small projects. As most small projects do not have a big budget.
I arrived, parked with no problem. I was even very happy it had it’s own parking lot right in front of the studio. Studio was well equipped and I was able to pull off what I needed. The only thing is, I think, the studio needs a book of how to operate somethings as they were not very obvious.
But overall, it’s a great place for those on a budget, looking for a place to make quality work. Very comfortable, owners are onsite, and it hosts a large variety of equipment. My only complaint is that I really would have liked a studio handbook on how to operate everything as the owner has it setup quite well. It’s really amazing, honestly.
Like the guy said, if you’re looking for a big production studio, no. BUT, if you need something that can work for smaller production, this place is amazing. Especially for the price.

The studio is great, especially for $ 30/​hr, but the owner Mark is a nightmare.
I booked a space from 9AM — 2:30PM on a Saturday. It was a photo shoot for a movie poster for a film that I directed with an ensemble cast of young females. We had one emancipated minor with us, aged 16, and the oldest actress was 23.
Mark was great at first, he came in and was very friendly and helpful. We started shooting and everyone was having a blast. Then, at 12:30PM, Mark opened the door in the middle of a shot, ruining the lighting, and brought two random men inside. He stood there for a moment, and then showed the men out. He then came over to me, the person who booked the studio, and told me that it wasn’t «my problem,» but he had accidentally double-​booked the studio. This other group had somehow booked from 12−2PM, even though I had booked the studio from 9 – 2:30.
His proposed solution to the problem was that this other group could come in and shoot simultaneously with us. WHAT? I’m sorry, but that’s insane. We had our whole set up already figured out, that would have been impossible. Also, I have a group of young actresses whose comfortability I am responsible for. I do not want random people I don’t know in the studio with us. ESPECIALLY when I had already booked the studio space, and it wasn’t «my problem» anyway.
I replied with a polite, «I just don’t feel comfortable with that – » and before he even tried to offer us a discount or come up with another solution, he raised his voice at me and said, «Oh you won’t even fucking work with that, that’s fine, I’ll just tell them to go fuck themselves,» and then he stormed out.
My producer, who is a tall man, jumped up immediately when he heard Mark raise his voice like that at me, in a room full of people. My producer followed Mark outside, where Mark told him to «Enjoy (his) last day on earth.» My producer asked him what that meant, and when Mark didn’t respond, he said, «We have a sixteen year old girl in there, we can’t just let people we don’t know in the room.» Mark replied, «She’s not naked, is she?» My producer responded that that was hardly the point.
After Mark left and we got back to shooting, I started getting a long series of rambling text messages essentially trying to bully us out of the studio. He said that he couldn’t have underage people at his studio, that made him look bad, etc. I replied that she was an emancipated minor and that we have all of the paperwork proving it. He went on and on threatening to kick us out. He was making it very difficult for me to focus on the shoot, so I had to pass my phone to my producer to handle it.
In the end, we just wrapped up as quickly as possible and got the hell out of there.
What a creep.
You might get lucky and have no issues, but I’d say it’s worth it to spend a little extra cash per hour to make sure that you’re dealing with someone who won’t threaten and bully you while you’re trying to work in a space that you’re paying for.

It’s unfortunate that this studio only has 3 stars now. I have used Valley Photo Studio 4 times this year. Each time I was greeted by Mark (the owner) and then left alone during my shoots. The equipment available is more then I could ever afford to have so yeah, at $ 30 an hr, you really are getting a great deal. Bathroom is always clean, refreshments and snacks are on hand and dressing room is big enough for a couple of MUA. The models I’ve brought have liked the shots from our shoots here so I will continue to use Valley Photo Studio for my studio shoots.

I have a background in advertising, I work with photographers, and both of my parents were photographers so I speak from experience:
Pros:
* You get a bargain for the price ($ 30 per hr, with all the equipment is a steal, go ahead and shop around)
* The studio owner is a little kooky, but very helpful
* The studio is decent size (we had 5 members with equipment, 3 wardrobe/​makeup, and 6 video crew)
* (EDIT) forgot to add that it’s super clean and organized — we found everything we needed
* Studio is 24hr
Cons:
* All lights are fluorescent, so if you want halogen or other — you’ll need to rent.
* It’s deep in the heart of the Valley
The key to this place is setting expectations, but being really flexible — both in time AND attitude.
I’m in a band on a DIY budget, so this place seemed too good to be true. We scouted it first to make sure it would fit the bill, then booked. The shoot went well, with minimal hiccups (we planned heavily) and we’re super-​stoked with the results.
The owner is odd, yes — but NOT off. He was reasonable, helpful, and stayed out of our way. At the end we felt like we had gotten a great deal for the money spent (8hrs total)
If you are a pro, then you KNOW this is cheap. And you also KNOW to set your expectations properly.
Anything else would EASILY add another zero to our bottom line, so yeh, we’ll be back for the other videos (unless in the unlikely event that something like it opens up on the Wesssside)
If you’re a diva, or used to Ad Industry or Commercial-​grade shoots, then this might not be your place — there, you’ve been warned.
Otherwise — Take this for the rough gem that it is and get your shit done cheap…

I had booked a shoot from 4pm to 8pm. The booking was confirmed by the owner, and I verified it was in the studio’s public google calendar.
On the shoot day, I showed up a little before 4pm with three models and a make-​up artist. 2 minutes to 4pm I could hear somebody were still shooting inside so I tapped the door as a gentle reminder that time’s up.
The owner came out and explained everybody were running behind schedule today and if we could wait 15 to 20 minutes. I don’t understand why that’s my problem, but I’m a nice guy so we agreed to wait.
20 minutes past 4pm I could hear they were still shooting, so I tapped the door again. The owner came out and said they were doing the last shot. Just a couple of minutes more.
33 minutes past 4pm, I ran out of patience and knocked on the door. The three models and the make-​up artist were great about it, but it was hot outside.
The owner came out again and yelled he was getting stressed about my knocking and couldn’t I tell they were still shooting. He ended his tirade with «get off my property. Go find a $ 30/​hour studio somewhere else».
I am appalled at the unprofessional manner the owner displayed in front of me and the team I brought with me to the shoot. It is my impression the owner runs this place more like a bar where he plays favors on certain customers and expects everybody else to jump at his whims.

This is an amazing studio. It is very professional, clean, spacious
There is everything you need here. Private parking, lights, softboxes, booms, stands, reflectors, anything you can think to need and then more. The perks are snacks, beverages, clothing stands. There is even a table with a LARGE monitor set up that you can tehter to for instant feedback/​replay.
The dressing room/​makeup and hair area has tons of lights and mirrors. Plenty of room for several people to work in. Hi stools so the models are at the proper height to be made up.
And the throne-​room. Literally. The bathroom has a throne in it, that you set upon.
Rates are excellent. Owners are super nice. Mark may even wander out and talk with you to get to know you better or to see what you are doing. He’s a great guy.
Did I mention clean and organized? That is because at the end of every session, the customer is expected to pick up after themselves, and wet mop the floor, which is part of the backdrop. So allow yourself 15 – 20 min at the end of your session to do this. But it’s worth it to keep costs down.
You cant beat this place.

We absolutely love the Valley Photo Studio, it is extremely hard to find a better place to film. We film all of our cover music videos there. The rates are $ 30 which can’t be beat — it includes all kinds of lighting. There are tons of free snacks, sodas and drinks and beer on tap! For more serious appetites there is also catering available
The owners are very nice and overall it just has a great friendly environment while being a very professional studio space at the same time. Its extremely spacious, with a clothing rack and fully lighted dressing room — stocked with hair dryers and hair product
There is plenty of parking and its a very safe neighborhood
The one thing to take note of is that each renter needs to mop up and fully clean up the white floors after the shoot!
