My first visit to a Sonic Drive-Inn was when one opened up in my small hometown in Kansas. It was 1964 and I was in high school, loved their chocolate Cokes, coneys, onion rings and chili pies! Over the years, no matter where I lived I would frequent a Sonic from time to time. Even had one of my sons worked for a Sonic when he was in high school during part of the 1990s. The late 1990s I noticed the chili tasted different, not as good as it once was, so I discontinued ordering their coneys. Then thereafter they took their fish sandwich off their menu, then later their salads, which I liked both. I do love the hot dogs like Chicago and All American they started selling couple of years ago. A few weeks I went to the Sonic in Winfield, KS where I have some relatives living. I ordered the foot long cheese coney, got it to go. When started eating it, the coney was terrible. The chili was runny, causing it to make the bottom of the bun soggy. The hot dog has a strong smokey taste and a rubbery texture. Instead of real shredded cheese like they use to use, it was more like a runny flat tasting cheese sauce. I will not be ordering the coneys at this Sonic location ever again! Nasty!
