Harpoon Brewery

Awesome brewery and the tour for $ 5 is a great deal. You get a tour, souvenir glass, and the knowledgable staff gives you samples during and after the tour. Only downside is that the line was terribly long, but that’s probably due to the Holiday we visited and how great the place is. My favorite beer is the Long Thaw and the Crowlers are a good deal for $ 4.99 plus tax

Had a great time here over the weekend. The building is a large clean building, with plenty of room to absorb customers. We got two sampler flights and a pretzel and enjoyed them all. The staff was very friendly and helpful, attentive and willing to discuss the different beers. Brewery tours are on the hour, we kept forgetting to wait for the tour, and ended up remembering a few minutes late each time.
It was cold and snowy when we went, but it looked like a great place to hang out on a warm day. There was a lot of outdoor seating and patios. On cold days, they do have an indoor fireplace you can sit near.

I’ve been to Harpoon a few times, and I’ve always enjoyed their brewery tour, as well as the beer tastings. The brewery is set in a very scenic (albeit remote) location, and the staff are extremely polite and friendly. During the brewery tour you will have the opportunity to sniff and taste various kinds of hops and grains used in their brew-​making process. And at the end of the tour, you can taste as many of their beers as you want, as many times as you want. #Awesome
I specially loved their White UFO, the pumpkin UFO and the Octoberfest. The Big Squeeze shandy was a very different and refreshing experience too.
The other thing that stands out about Harpoon is the restaurant. Not only is the food awesome, you can enjoy it while sitting by their outdoor fireplace. How cool is that? There’s also a bunch of games that you can play outside.
Overall we had a great time at Harpoon, and I can’t wait to go back.

Love sitting at the bar always a good show. The bartenders are super fun and happy to be there. The onion rings are the best ever along with the Reuben.

Came here with some friends to sample some beers over a new years trip — Harpoon has some tasty brews, but this is a popular spot so be prepared to wait.
Beers:
My friends and I had a great time ordering the various flights of brews and Harpoon does a good job of having a variety.
My favorite on this past visit was the Winter Warmer. It had all the great spices of this time of year, hints of cinnamon, nutmeg, etc, but it wasn’t as heavy as stouts that often get that spice treatment.
I also thought their standard cider was good, but avoid the maple cider. Sure, it *sounds* good, but the maple was too over powering.
I was underwhelmed by the Ginger UFO, I think maybe because ginger/​winter flavors don’t go well with a Heff
The cocoa porter is a really great porter, dark, smooth and flavorful
Snacks:
Pretzel ~ huge and doughy, the pretzel was perfect. The side of mustard was spicy and good, but the other sauce was gravy?! Gross. Literally. Where is my cheese dip people?!
Poutine: Full disclosure: this was my first poutine, so I’m no expert, but I thought it was tasty. I’m not a huge gravy fan but the mix of flavor with the cheese and fries works somehow. My friends who *are big poutine fans, liked it, but weren’t completely impressed
Service:
Once we got a seat the service was very good. Our waitress was very friendly and swung by at the perfect frequency

The waitress we had (Mac) was very helpful, patient, and a good server. The food was great and the beer was even better. I’m not commonly in VT, but I would come back here next time I’m in the area.

An awesome spot in Southern VT! An incredible selection of brews, only available at the brewery, growler service and tasty grub make this a great spot. Add in the bocce and lawn tennis courts, movies and concerts and. the adjacent wood fired pizza shop and distillery and you have a recipe for a great time

These days I only go to Harpoon for an occasional beer. The food is general fare. Not a lot of ‘house made’ items on the menu. (Except the beer) Our hopes were high after visiting the Long Trail Brewery up in Bridgewater, VT. But they fell short. Long Trail is way ahead in service, food, and Brews. Maybe someone from Harpoon should go up there for a burger, and learn a few things.

We loved our visit to the brewery and my husband loves harpoon beer. The food was great too.

Was invited here with old friends from our military lives and we came here with our dogs which was another godsend. How many places have such a large outdoor seating area that you can bring your furry son or daughter and enjoy good conversation, great food, AMAZING brews and ciders in the company of the entire family — yes that includes our four-​legged brethren. Speaking about our other family members, there’s ample grounds for walking and if they’re well behaved, they are welcome outside. So on a mild November day, we came over here.
The Brewery is a short — really short, hop from I-​89 so totally accessible from as far South as Connecticut, as far North as Quebec and with New York, Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Vermont as the primary call customers.
Entering the place I found the staff is just delightful. They know their beers and ciders and can recommend one for your particular tastes. In our case a serious Bock and a tasty IPA were favs. As well as the chocolate beer which was unique.
Food wise, we ordered a superb pulled pork nachos and two orders of what turned out to be a humongous fish and chips where the fish was so large it didn’t fit into the plate, we admired both pieces of the attractive sea delicacy before enjoying every bit of it… And yes, our furry offspring got a little too.
Every once in a while you get to a place where you’re made to feel totally at home, no pretense of arrogance or pretentiousness, where the beer is plentiful, the food superb, the staff friendly and ensuring that we all had a good time. Well, we found it here. We’ll be back.

Worst wifi ever. 0 cell service. 1 star for the nice beer selection, otherwise 0 stars.

Loved this place! So many choices of beers … food was great … I had the pretzel for appetizer and wings for my entrée. Both my husband did two different samplers of the beer and we liked majority of them! Also the plaza has many other local shoppes to check out!

Found this on the Vermont Brewery tour map and really enjoyed the experience. We did a self guided tour — guided tours are available on the weekend & stayed for lunch in their brewery pub.
Our waitress was very knowledgeable about the craft beers served & you can have a few tastes brought over if you to sample before ordering. They had a great selection of UFO beer & we learned a lot about how IBU impacts our choices & what we like.
Weather permitting they have a lovely patio that looked great — it was cold we ate inside. Food is stepped up pub fare with unique offerings.
They have a gift shop with apparel, accessories & bottled beer to sell individually, in 6 packs, 12 packs or cases. All in all a great stop & we’ll be back!

This review is for the restaurant; we did not do the tour. Went at about 7:30 on a Friday night. It was busy but we were seated right away. The atmosphere is that of many restaurants that are after-​thoughts to a production facility – cold and just a step above cafeteria-​ish. That’s fine if the food is good – one of my favorite fish restaurants in Boston is like this, as it was an after-​thought to a fishmonger’s processing facility. I digress.
We ordered the UFO Pumpkin and a root beer. Both were fine. We had the pretzel app, which was amazing – doughy salty deliciousness – and the clam chowder, which was also delish – there’s a secret something in there that brightens the flavor nicely. We both ordered a bacon cheeseburger medium with fries, and I ordered the Octoberfest, which was so incredibly bitter. Yuck. The fries were great – the kind that are dipped in something or twice-​fried or whatever so they are super crispy and good. The burger was delivered medium well and dry as a hockey puck. The bacon was dry as leather. There was way too much bun for the burger. All in all, the burger was terrible. I don’t know if the kitchen was having a off night or what, but based on our dinner, I’d say find somewhere else to eat.

Found this place randomly when driving back from Maine. I’d heard of harpoon beer before and figured we could drop in for lunch. Was definitely not disappointed. My burger was amazing and the beer was great.
There were all kinds of people in the pub as well. Hikers, bikers, business people taking meetings, it was really to cool to see such a wide demographic.
I had an awesome time here and will definitely return, possibly making the 8 hour drive just to return to harpoon.

I really enjoyed the tour here! We’ve come before but this was our first time doing the tour, and I think they do it the right way. Interesting information, a look at the process, and lots of samples :)
What I like about this place:
–Great place to hang out outside. There are cornhole games, life-​sized chess, picnic tables, live music, and more. You can grab a beer, some quick food, wine and cheese– really anything, and hang out here with friends or family.
–You can try up to 4 2oz samples of whatever is on tap for free before buying a beer or cider. This is in addition to any tastings on your tour :)
–Tour guides are funny
–You get to try an IPA at two different points in the process during the tour, and it’s cool to compare the taste
–At the end of the tour you get to choose what to try (of what’s on tap)
–There is a restaurant with decent food if you want a sit-​down meal. The pulled pork nachos are good!
–pumpkin cider. Yum!
Overall, a fun brewery experience, even if Harpoon isn’t your favorite beer (although I have definitely found some Harpoon favorites thanks to this place!)

Hefeweissen, cider, Octoberfest were good. The 100 Barrel Nordic Saison was great!
We also enjoyed the Reuben with homemade kraut, chicken Caesar salad, and the vinegary pulled pork sandwich.
Nice place to stop if you’re in the area or were just at the Simon Pearce outlet.

Beautiful Location, Tasty beers, happening restaurant with amazing food and if you like cheese tastings then there’s a store right across the garden for that as well.
The tour was informative and staff was super friendly. All the beers were above average but I definitely loved their UFO and pumpkin Ale. We sat on the tables outside and while waiting for the food we played board games which were free! The food was okay but then we took our beers and sat around the fire place pit and had fresh pizza from the little open fireplace pizza shop right next to the cheese store. Overall experience was very pleasant and I will definitely go there again.

The Boston location should take note! LOVE LOVED this Harpoon location. I’ve been to the Boston location numerous times so I wanted to check out the VT one when I was in the area. I think my favorite part is that here there’s an actual restaurant on site, so you can grab a bite before or after. A lot of the dishes incorporate some harpoon beer in them. The pulled pork nachos were possibly the best I’ve ever had, and they had this amazing beer cheese sauce. I die.
There were 18 beers on tap to try, which beats the usual 12 – 14 in Boston. I got my first imperial pumpkin of the season here :) They also have an nice outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. But possibly the BEST PART (well aside from the beer of course) is the cheese shop on site. We stopped on our way out and got some cheese and other local goodies. The shop was really cute and had other things like homemade ice cream, chocolate and maple syrup too. All around I had a great time and am looking forward to my next visit

Solid place to stop at while passing through NH /​Vermont on interstate 91. The tour itself costs $ 5 per person, for those ages over 21, and runs about 45 minutes, with 15 minutes for tasting at the end.
You’ll hear the history of Harpoon Brewery and it’s humble Boston beginnings, to the acquisition of the former Catamount Brewery facility in Windsor, Vermont. You’ll learn about beer ingredients, the beer making process and visit the cold storage room (refreshing on a hot summer day). You get a Harpoon tasting glass (which you keep at the end of the tour), and about 15 minutes to try as many beers as they have on tap in their tasting room (probably about 10 – 15 beers on tap).
Be sure to try the beers only available at the brewery!
We arrived at 12:45pm, 15 minutes before the 1pm tour. We had our 3 kids with us and we had originally only planned to stop for lunch. The hostess mentioned she’d reserve us an outdoor table for when the 2pm tour wrapped up (very nice touch). While on the tour, the kids enjoyed wearing the safety goggles and the root beer tasting offered to them (again, very nice touch at no charge and the kids got to keep their glasses).
Lunch was standard bar food — the only true stand out was the Vermonter Sandwich, which was excellent (turkey, green apple slices, red onion slices, bacon, Vermont cheddar and spicy mustard on a grilled panini).
The Vermont burgers were OK, but not great but was happy to hear they use local farm raised Vermont beef.
Restaurant service was OK.
Gift shop has $ 20 T-​shirts and $ 75 biking jerseys, both which I thought were overpriced but I got the T-​shirt anyhow for my collection of beer-​wear shirts. Would have liked the biking jersey but cannot bring myself to pay $ 75 for a biking jersey, no matter how cool.
