Specialties
I’m a fully-insured Sonoma County Photographer. I’m the owner of Danielle Joy Photography, and consider myself a natural light photographer with an illustrative approach. Great, so what does that mean exactly? Well, I prefer to shoot with natural/available light to give my images a warm, natural feel, and tend to take a mixture of candid & posed shots. Whatever it takes to get the perfect image, to make you feel something. I want to capture that fleeting moment you otherwise may not remember; Like the look in your dads eyes when he sees you for the first time on your wedding day, or the small but precious yawn of your 8-day old newborn, or the giggle of your fiancée as you tell me your engagement story, or your senior child feeling on top of the world in their letterman’s jacket, as they talk about their post-high school plans .I want to capture it all, and make every session as relaxed, easy-going, and fun as possible!
History
Established in 2012.
In 2011 I picked up a «real» camera for the first time since high school. I was always taking pictures on my point & shoot and iPhone, but a friend asked me to snap some photos for her save the dates, so I borrowed a DSLR and fell in love. I didn’t want to stop! I shot on film for awhile after that, and eventually bought my first digital camera DSLR «kit». It was a canon rebel, with just a kit lens. I couldn’t stop photographing people, places, and things! I took it beyond a hobby in 2012, and my work has only continued to grow. Now on to a full-frame camera and a variety of lenses and other equipment, I couldn’t be happier with my progression and constant growth! I truly love what I do, and am so fortunate.

Business Owner
Hi, I’m DJ! Which is short for Danielle Joy. I am THE definition of a people person! I love meeting people, talking, and getting to know more about others’ lives. I have developed amazing relationships with my clients, many of them become great friends! That’s the best part about what I do – meeting people and making connections. I always knew I wanted to pursue photography as a hobby, but never realized it could also be my career. I am working hard to be able to make it my full-time job, but for now I also work at a Wealth Management Firm in Santa Rosa. It can get kind of crazy juggling two demanding jobs, but I wouldn’t trade a minute of it!
I am from Santa Cruz originally, moved to Merced when I was around 12, and now live in Sonoma County after getting my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University. I have the best boyfriend of 5 years, a perfect 5 year old Black Lab, and wonderful friends & family who often end up the subjects of my photos.
