They’ve just been open for a week or so, and I dropped in this afternoon. It’s a typical thrift store — all kinds of short-dated breads and rolls and English muffins for $ 0.99. They have a table with a Manager’s Special –today it was hot dog and hamburger rolls, with today’s date, for just $ 0.79. They have a pretty good supply of boxed snack cakes selling at 3 boxes for $ 5. They had sell by dates of 3⁄10 and 3⁄31. I picked up a box of chocolate cupcakes, coffee cake cupcakes, and Hippity Hops which seem to be the love child of a Mallomar and a Mounds Bar. Listen, the store won’t win any awards for feng shui or interior decorating. The interior is kind of sparse with white tablecloths draped over long tables. The values are pretty decent, but watch out for those product dates. Some of those breads felt a little tough to my touch. They also sell some traditional grocery items like ketchup, pickles, mustard, pancake syrup, and jellies. They have big bags of chips for 99 cents. There was one sales clerk who asked me if I had ever been there before, and when I said«no» she patiently and very efficiently gave me the pricing lowdown. And when I brought my goodies to the register, she let me choose one free item from some cakes at the register.
