Friendly atmosphere, accessible prices. I stop in whenever I’m in the area for the recent used vinyl.

Joe is gun ho for all things plastic! And he has a ton of things that will take you down memory lane. Willimantic Records is part of the Willimantic Arts and Eats District on Main Street. You may have to go down a long alley way or find him and his store in a round about way but you’ll be pleased AND surprised when you find WR! Check their website for a listing of concerts and artists that are passing through town looking for a place to do a gig. I went to the store to check out the space and to see what there was to see. I took a trip without packing a bag as I looked at records that I hadn’t seen in years. Sometimes I laughed, sometimes I was in awe. Sometimes I couldn’t even believe what I was looking at. There are so many unique things in the space that Willimantic Records occupies. Check this place out some time. You can find a bargain, listen to live music, and make some new friends if you’re not careful!

This isn’t exactly a place you stumble upon but I did somehow. Willimantic Records is an extremely charming dump. It seems more like someones basement than an actual business. There’s also an odd odor that I smelt but just couldn’t place. Was it wet cat? I’m not sure. The shabby appearance can’t hide what this business is all about: records. All the vinyl is laid out orderly by genre. Rock dominates the inventory but I also found jazz, country, folk & world music. The selection is top notch & there’s plenty to browse. While records dominate the shop inventory they do have an impressive book & magazine selection. The place isn’t that small & they must be doing something right to still be around. I can’t comment on their live events but have heard rumors about them all the way in RI. They had a small selection of Willimantic themed t-shirts that I felt compelled to pick up but didn’t due to lack of cash flow. I hate to stress it but you have to be looking for the shop to find it. If I lived in the area I’d be a regular but I’m glad I found the place passing through one day. If you’re into vinyl & looking for cool records then you’ll appreciate it. It’s definitely not your corporate sanitized CD shop so don’t go in expecting it. If the smell & outdated décor don’t bother you then I’m sure you’ll find Willimanic Records as charming as I did.

Love this place! Very interesting collections wide range of music and YES! Vinyls!!! It’s fun to look through what this place got and I always find something interesting even in the 99 cents vinyl section which is awesome! They got new to old magazines, books, t-shirts, art, cds, even cassette tapes! And of course other neat interesting objects everywhere. They also have LIVEMUSIC often playing and the owner is super nice & helpful!!! It’s great cultural & sub-cultural spot in Willimantic I’m delighted to have!!!

Willimantic Records is a great little shop off of Main st. The owner is very helpful and they often have live music events. They sell everything from t-shirts, cds, magazines and books, to stereo equipment, one of a kind artwork, and of course vinyl!
