FATZ Cafe

Arrived to this location with a group of friends. They were very accommodating as one of our party is currently using a cane. Our server was a young man clearly starting out and was a bit nervous but always polite doing his best to meet our needs. They were very nice to make a margarita drink that was off menu. They gave us the rolls which seemed to be a cross between a hush puppy with something savory and all I can say is that these «rolls» are AWFUL. Not even the sweetest honey butter that accompany the «rolls» could save them. Can someone explain how a roll can have an aftertaste? If they offer you the rolls just say «No Thanks!» To call these things rolls is an insult to rolls elsewhere.
I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes. They come with creamy grits and my companions said that the grits were good. The fried onion rings were also done very well.
I ordered the JP’s Pot Roast Pie after reading several reviews of how good it is. The menu described the dish as «Down-​home cooking at its finest. Our homestyle pot roast is slow-​roasted in au jus with carrots and sweet onions topped with red-​skinned mashed potatoes. Served with a side salad.» I had the baked potato soup instead of the salad and that was creamy and hot. All that was missing was a bit of sour cream and chives. When my pot roast pie finally arrived I wish I could say that mine was good but what arrived was a brown gravy soup and meat in a ramekin with mashed potatoes on top. The meat was dry. Hard to do when drowning in gravy. I had to ask for a tall glass of ice water just to make sure I didn’t go into shock because of the salt overload. The carrots were non existent and there was no resemblance of onions. Onions would have toned down the saltiness of the dish. My companion’s Carolina burger was over cooked but the others had the Blackened Chicken pasta. The pasta dish was good according to them.
For dessert we ordered the Deep Dish Chocolate Chip Cookie that is served with vanilla ice cream. The first one was warmed up raw cookie dough and they promptly offered to make another for us. The second has the edges cooked but still gravely undercooked. I like warm chocolate chip cookies that are soft and melt in your mouth but this was as far away from that experience as you could get. Thankfully we were not charged for this.
The place is clean and has an extremely nice staff who did their best in spite of the food. I do suggest better staff training about the menu items. Most importantly they need to work on the menu and getting food to be consistent and tasty. This was a hit or miss experience where the misses overall where just too much.

My boyfriend and I visit this Fatz pretty regularly, maybe once a month. We really enjoy the food and the service is great; the restaurant is also very clean which is always nice. We’re usually seated right away and treated really well.
Recently when we visited, I ordered JP’s Pot Roast Pie. I’d had it once before and was craving it so bad. I could taste it! But when our food came, they’d given me a Chicken Pot Pie. Now, they’re pretty close so I get it. But I was so disappointed. The Chicken Pot Pie isn’t bad, but I was really wanting JP’s Pot Roast Pie. I’m so non-​confrontational that I just went ahead and ate it, lol. I didn’t want to get our sweet waitress in trouble or have anyone mad at me. When we got the bill, it also said Chicken Pot Pie. So clearly they just heard me wrong. Next time I’ll do better at making sure I’m clear about which Pie I want haha.

Still here waiting for a food after waiting over a hour to be seated and over a hour for food to be served. Watched as customers were being seated that came after us. All customers were Caucasian and we were an African American party. Weak to no apology for the wait and bad service. Not saying it is racial but definitely feels that way. Will not be back nor recommend this restaurant to anyone.

I was at the Fatz café in winder Ga. The food was great and the restaurant is clean I had fish and shrimp and bake potato and sweet tea and the people are friendly and great to talk too.
Amber was the bartender and she stayed busy with her tables and fixing drinks.
She is very knowledgeable about the food and she treats you like family
I ate here last night too.
I had chopped stake with peppers and onions and sweet potato and a salad with sweet tea.

My husband and I have been to this location several times. The experiences have been mixed. There have been very pleasant visits, and there have been visits that have ended with us simply walking out without getting any service.
Most of our positive visits have involved one particular server. I am sorry to say that I do not know his name, but he is a middle-​aged gentleman who usually works in the bar area. He definitely knows how to do his job! Fatz management needs to consider themselves fortunate to have him as an employee and consider having him to train their younger staff. He is able to explain items on the menu, to make suggestions when asked, to get the order correct, to check in on us at just the right moment, to juggle several tables at once, etc. I could go on, but I realize that I am supposed to review the restaurant. So, I will say that the food is usually good, but even when it is not the greatest, his service makes up the difference.

Service a little slow but friendly staff. The cheese grits are tasty. I recommend the «Famous Calabash Chicken.» Generous helping of chicken tenders, salad or soup, and a side. Not bad. Reasonable price.

This is my second visit here. The quality of the food is what brought us back but both occasions we have had excellent service. I would highly recommend this establishment and wish they would open one closer to home Loganville/​Snellville.

I’ve been a few times to this location and have no complaints. The food was good. Our waiter came by enough but not too frequently to feel like they were hovering. Overall a good option for a night out.

Great food and great service… My go to family meal within a budget… Always freindly atmosphere and priced just right for what you get…

This is my second time coming. I will review both trips.
I first visit here about 2 months ago for the first time, on a weekend about 9pm with a party of 7. We called in our reservation about 25min before we got there. When we arrived, we was told it would be 20mins. About 10mins later another party of 7 came in. They was told it would be a much longer wait and immediately became impatient. After 20mins THEY were seated before us. We waited close to a hour to be seated. We was told that the hostess called the wrong party… We didn’t find that to be truth. We were seated at two different booth across from each other. The waiter immediately brought out bread and complimentary appetizers (they think free food makes us ok) would have rather to be seated at our table and pay for our food which is what was intended when we arrived. The service was great. The food was delicious.
My second visit
I decided to try this place as the food was good. I came about noon with a party of 4. We were seated immediately. Not crowded at all. We was served two orders of bread. The bread is delicious. The menu offer a variety of food from salads, chicken, ribs and wraps. I order the Calabash wrap. It was good. Kinda small looked like a lunch portion but it wasn’t. The onion strings were good. My sister ordered the ribs, were ok. The shrimp were great! The Calabash chicken strips were delicious (one of the reason I returned) Service was excellent. Waiter was attentive. I would recommend this place. Despite my first visit. I gave 3 stars!

First off… the food is GREAT! The problem I have (and from 99% of the people I know who have tried Fatz) is the service. We love the food. However, I am afraid they will be out of business one day from the comments I have heard and COMPLETELY agree with. THE SERVICE. I NEVER learn my lesson. I order a to go meal from here once a week and have just come to know that I will either not have silverware, something I ordered will be missing or it will take a half hour for a piece of grilled chicken. Also, I have noticed quite a few staff members at all times roaming around (usually in pairs), but cannot get any help. Too, beware of making a to go order — you will be on hold for over 2 minutes each time. Which I don’t understand because when I pick up the order (I get to watch the staff since my one chicken meal takes ½ hour to get ready) there are staff all over just hanging out talking.
Unlike my family and friends, I continue to eat there because I love the food. However, just know the service is lacking! I hope they take these comments to heart because I hear the same complaints anytime I suggest going to FATZ and I would hate to see them go out of business.

I had been hearing about the Fatz Café chain for sometime from a buddy of mine that frequents the one in Anderson, SC. The funny thing is, he was always talking about their great prices and such. We finally stopped in one day to check it out as we had other business to attend to. The service was great, but we were literally the first and only people in the restaurant until right before we left.
Needless to say, my friend could not be more wrong. Not only was the food less than even mediocre, it was every bit as pricey as Chili’s, Applebees etc… on 90% of the menu items. There are some friends that are great friends but just do not know what they are talking about when it comes to food!

I am sorry, but giving 4 star service to the only table in the restaurant is not good enough for me to upgrade my overall review to two stars. Hate giving one star reviews but this place deserves it.

Hamburgers were like eating charcoal. Rolls were good. Slow service when not very busy. Overpriced for quality. Overall, it was okay. I’ve had way better but it wasn’t the worst.

We visited this location every few months. Not very good experiences. Food is ok, that’s if they get the order right. Our waitress was very scarce. Our neighbors have had the same experience. We will no longer visit this restaurant. Lots of room for improvement. Comping a meal doesn’t help when we can’t enjoy our food together. Management has a lot to learn.

Great food the steaks are awesome a bit on the expensive side though! All in all a great place to eat and good service! Don’t know if I’m going to the same place as the other reviewers but I liked my food!

I ordered the chicken fingers tossed in the mild buffalo sauce. Instead, they tossed them in hot sauce. Then, when I sent them back, the server said that she tried them once she got them back to the kitchen, and yes, they were hot. I appreciate her trust in what I said. I’ve been eating these for years in various restaurants, and I know hot vs. mild. While waiting on my replacement, the manager passed through, asking us how everything was as he walked by hurriedly. I didn’t have time to tell him, and he seemed oblivious to the fact that everyone else at our table was eating, and I had no food. Then, they brought me plain chicken tenders with the sauce on the side. At that point I thought, «forget it!» I boxed it up to go, and ate them the next day as leftovers — tossed in my own sauce!
FOLLOW UP: They sent gift certificates for me to dine again, after this experience. This time, I ordered something different. However, I can’t really raise my star rating, as the food (ribs) was just not that good. For what they are trying to accomplish as a restaurant, there are much butter choices out there.

Plain and simple, FATZ has food you would find at just about any other standard sports-​bar chain. They have a good, varied selection of food and from what I experienced it’s really rather decent. Nothing out of this world, but the environment is really sweet. Ideal place to eat out as a family — my boyfriends grandmother is especially fond of this place for some reason. They have fund colored sprites which my boyfriends little cousins really got a kick out of! (And okay, maybe I got one for myself… call me a child at heart, whatever.)
Also, our waitress was fantastic. I have only been here once, and even though it wasn’t jaw-​dropping, I would definitely come again. Good food at a really affordable price.

Our old Winder hide away. We last ate here over a year and a half ago, and we were in town, so we jumped at the chance to have their calabash chicken again. Food was just as good as I remember, and staff was friendly. I got burnt out on Fatz when I lived in the area, but after a sabbatical, it was tasty once again. One of the best chains in Winder

The first thought that comes to mind is that FATZ is a poor man’s O’Charley’s. That’s funny to say because O’Charley’s is pretty cheap. Whatever… it is very similar. The rolls are good. The rest is okay. I think Jamie S. put it perfectly. I won’t apologize for being a food snob. I really should not eat in the burbs.

I have been here twice, you know when I am really feelin’ Fatz.
Short and sweet, this is a chain but you would not think so here. The atmosphere is small town Georgia, The staff is pleasant, managed well. Very clean.
If you want a good bite at a good price then this Fatz is a find. Oh yes, they do have some things that are Skinnezzzz, But hey! Enjoy.
