A BLAST from the past! Well worth the stop the other week! It brings back pleasant memories of going out for a «Sack of Burgers» as a young lad!!! I know next time we are in the area, we will once again place an order !!

I was warned against this place when I first moved to town, and I probably should have heeded the warning — but during Apple Blossom Festival(even on the early days) it’s tough to get seating at any walking mall restaurant and this place was practically empty. We gave it a shot for that very reason; as my husband says, ‘That’s what you look for in a restaurant, right? Empty when everything else is full? Probably a good sign!”(Sarcasm, yo.) It’s absolutely adorable visually — old school soda shop/diner feel, and they make milkshakes, burgers, fries, onion rings. One lifetime local friend swears some of it is good, but that unfortunately wasn’t our experience on our one try. Maybe we’ll get brave or desperate and try it again, but what we had was some of the grossest food we’ve had locally.

The sliders are to die for. They have the best birch beer. The best thing is they are friendly and polite.

Was not totally impressed with the food here. It has a White Castle like feel to it and its nice when you can just pick up your food in front of the window, but that’s about the only positive there. Each time I went here the food was hit or miss. My first visit I had a terrific cheesesteak and a milkshake that was awesome. The next time I was there I got a chicken cheesesteak that was very heavily cheesed over and a milkshake that was not prepared adequately enough to leave me satisfied for a nice lunch. The third time I just got the milkshake and it was terrible. I had to console myself by going to Red Fox across the street to make up for it. The staff is nice and friendly(nice guys from New Jersey), but it wasn’t enough for me to want to go back for future visits.

Do. Not. Eat. Here. We were looking for a quick lunch while visiting old town on a Saturday. It was 2 so we thought there wouldn’t be a crowd. There really wasn’t. They took our order right away. Every other item we ordered they were out of. Bacon? Nope. Corn dogs? Nope. Lemonade? Nope. Chicken tenders? Nope. My oldest is a picky eater. He asked for a grilled cheese and we were told that would be a 20 minute wait. Good Golly. A grilled cheese. 20 minutes. We got him an order of fries instead. In all, we ordered three sliders, a hot dog, three orders of fries and an order of tots. When I was done ordering I was told the entire order would take 20 minutes! There was no one in line in front of us or behind us. I kept being told the grill was in use. I figured if it would be 20 minutes anyway, might as well get the grilled cheese. This then seemed like a huge inconvenience for them even though I hadn’t paid nor had they sent the ticket back yet. In all we waited almost 40 minutes for the food. I was told the grilled cheese still wasn’t ready. A GRILLEDCHEESE! We also noticed we were missing an order of fries. I mentioned it when the grilled cheese was ready and was told we never ordered them and would have to pay for an additional order. We told them to forget it. We didn’t want to wait another 40 minutes for an order of fries that by now should have been complimentary. Oh, yeah. The food was gross. All that time and it was cold and gross.

While i didn’t stop for the food i did stop for the milkshake and very cool experience chatting with the folks running the grill. I was at the George Washington Hotel’s restaurant and lounge downstairs and asked if they offer shakes. The bartender offer a few items but really recommended the Snow White Grill. She also mentioned that she’s been going there for their shakes since she was little. Then my new friends At the bar next to us highly recommended it as well. They were all right and then-some. I had the vanilla and chocolate shake and a great conversation with the folks working last night. Just awesome people(but we’re learning it may just be a Winchester thing). Try this place out for a fun local experience that just happens to make you feel like family, and oh yeah the shales are great.

This used to be my favorite place to get a burger but sadly it’s become a crap hole. The last 2 times I’ve stopped in(today being the latest) they haven’t had any hamburgers. I won’t be coming back again.

I love these classic sliders and the late hours. I wish the prices were a little more reasonable for what you get sometimes(or they had specials on occasion) because you can eat quite a few items without feeling fully satisfied.

When I actually crave a food, happily drive an hour or more, and start salivating 20 miles out, you know it’s a good thing. Service is slow, but everything is fresh, hot and delicious. No longer cash only — they have square. Also now open Sundays from 11am — 4pm on a trial basis — come visit and encourage them to keep it up!

Over the past year we’ve tried three times to visit Snow White Grill and haven’t really been able to order. The first time was around noon or 1pm. However, we were told that most of the menu was unavailable because they don’t run some of their equipment during those hours. No burgers, no hot dogs, etc. Most of the menu was unavailable as a result. The second time we ran into the same problem– why they don’t post a lunch menu is beyond me. The third time we tried to go was a Friday evening around 5:30 or 6pm. The young lady at the window told us they were actually closing and wouldn’t reopen until 10pm. After three times to just try the place– once! we’ve officially given up. I have no idea what or when we’d have to do to get some food.

I only had one burger here and it was just at the recommendation of family as I walked through old Winchester. I have to say the burger hit the spot and I’ll definitely stop for more. The only issue I had was the service. Like many places in Winchester, it seems to be staffed by local kids who are just working because they need some dough. They only had one person on(that we could see) and they kept milling around inside and took forever to come to the window. So, they get marked down a notch just for that. I’ll try them again next time I’m in town, and if the service is better I’ll probably bump the rating.

If you don’t care for, or can’t eat onions… don’t bother visiting. I went for lunch today, and after learning the hamburger meat is cooked with onions that cannot be taken out/off, I changed my order to the cheesesteak sandwich. …only to find that the cheesesteak sandwich had onions too!!! If I didn’t want a burger because of the onions… why would you not tell me there were onions on the cheesesteak… especially when I asked for only meat and cheese!!! Good thing I’m not allergic or we really would have had a problem… I don’t plan to return.

We read about SWG on and of course had to check it out. They are best known for their tiny burgers — what we call sliders these days but that term didn’t exist when they started serving them here in 1949. If you are familiar with White Castle you know the type of burger I mean. You will need about 3 of the little burgers if you have a regular burger appetite. The burgers are very good, with a little fried onion and pickle. They also have a cheeseburger and a deluxe with lettuce and tomato. The tator tots are awesome as are the onion rings. You can order from the take out window and sit at one of the sidewalk tables, or inside at the counter on a stool. This is not gourmet dining but it’s great grub from a 63 year old institution. Also walking around the old town shopping area around SWG is a good way to spend some time.

It’s great that a place like this exists in Winchester. I love the rare sight of the tiny burgers they serve here, which are very nice. Even nicer are the tater tots and onion rings, two things a lot of places just don’t get right.

Let’s be honest, you aren’t going to this place expecting a Michelin star. With that being said, it’s everything you want it to be. Just straight up good comfort food. Mini-burgers and tater tots at 2AM? You’re god-damn right I will. There is a great chance you may find the love of your life, the best attempt Winchester can make at a thugs, 13 yr old boys with cougars, the mayor or a extremely inebriated young gentleman with a treasure map leading to life’s next adventure, either way, batton down the hatches gents, cause it’s about to get real, or as the kids are saying«turned up.» But who the hell knows what that means.

I use to go here all the time growing up so my review may be biased. I just love the snow white grill. Every time I visit Winchester I have to come here a couple of times. The burgers just can’t be beat. The burgers are tiny but taste great. What they lack in size they make up in flavor. Fresh ground beef, grilled onions, and mustard on a(potato?) roll. After 3 or 4 of these and a side of fries, you will be in hamburger heaven. The seating is very limited, so if you come during peak hours its best to get it to go. The employees are super friendly. If you are craving a burger this is the place to go.

I was really excited to check the Snow White Grill, as it’s been in business since 1948 — it’s in Old Town Winchester, and there was a huge line. You can see inside that they have limited seating, but on the weekends, it’s ordering via the window only. I had the Mini-cheeseburger, which the patty was made up of freshly ground local beef that was grilled, some onions, cheese, and a nice tangy sliced pickle. The bread itself was a bit too fluffy, but overall, it was a great slider. I know that this place gets compared to White Castle, but the latter is just more greasier(which make its more tasty to some!). Overall, it was a cute place to check out — it seems as if the average wait time for some customers was about 40 – 45 minutes, since they order a bunch of sliders at one time. My husband was sad that they ran out of milk for milkshakes — psh! We even went in the next day(the diner was opened for seating), but they also ran out of the deep fried hot dogs — bummer! I guess if you’re craving for something similar to White Castle and not have to trek up to NJ, this is the next best thing — check them out! +yummy sliders: D +limited counter seating inside

Some local flavor, since 1949. Get a cheeseburger, sorta like White Castle. If you’re hungary, you want to get three or four. I like that you can sit outside on the patio when the weather is nice.

Just like the others have wrote before me, Snow White Grill serves up sliders similar to White Castle, but I think Snow Whites taste better because they are not steamed and they use fresh meat. I know this for a fact because while I was standing in the hall waiting for my order, they were delivering the fresh meat through the front door and handing it over the counter. I ordered two with mustard and a sweet tea before going to a beading class over at Potomac Beading Company. Fast and delicious!
