Provided adequate funeral service. However deceptive financial process in people’s time of sorrow was not appreciated. Negotiated rate entire service was paid in advance, before passing. After passing, «extra» charges totaling 2,000 appear up. What irked me the most in that was the charge for the obituary. I understand that they are a business and need to make money — but here is what went down — they take $ 250 for the obit — and it its for a different paper than the winchester star, they will charge«more or less depending» — well they call my wife at 1:30 saying«it’s $ 325, and we need the money by 2pm or they won’t do it» so she rushes the $ 75 difference(on a 7000 financial transaction) down. Meanwhile, I had called that paper to ballpark the obit cost — it was $ 153 and needed to be in by 6pm NOT2pm. So, like I said, I figured they would charge a premium for submitting it — I just think more than a 100% markup is slimy and creating the«false» emergency while people are in emotional states was a douche bag move. I guess to sum up, they dress the part of a 19th century mortician, and they appear to have the business morals that were common in that period as well When it comes time for me to go, or anyone else, I will not be using Phelps.
