Pairings explores how wine and food complement one another. In weekly tastings and special events each wine is paired with a food. Come and decide for yourself how well different wines and food go together (or not).

Every Saturday from 4−7pm 6 wines are paired with 6 foods, free for you to taste. The wines and foods are 20% off for Sat and Sun.

Pairings favors small wineries with distinct and special wines with good value. We visit wine regions to learn about local wine and food, and present the best at «Pairings».

History

Established in 2010.

Lori and Ray Schaefer are the pair behind Pairings. We are passionate about wine and food, and believe experience is the best (and most fun) way to learn. We travel to wine regions around the world, both to experience and identify special wineries and wines, as well as to taste indigenous foods that pair well with local wines. We endeavor to bring the best back to Pairings.

We favor wines characteristic of the area where they are produced (e.g., the «terroir»), as opposed to international style wines that could be from anywhere. Wineries with environmental concerns tend to give more attention to quality and, in our experience, are more likely to provide nice wines at a comparably reasonable price.

Pairings is an expression of our lifelong exploration of wine and food. It is an endeavor of passion, a passion we share with our customers daily. So, please stop by our store and explore a diversity of wines, spirits and foods.

Ray is part owner with his wife Lori, who are the «Pair» of Pairings Wine and Food.

Pairings is a different kind of wine and food shop. We want to you to have a unique experience — whether you’re new to wine or a connoisseur. Our store is organized by style to guide food pairings. We travel the world and hand select wine from lesser known — yet outstanding — small lot vineyards. We offer a selection of artisan cheeses, charcuterie and meats, fresh breads, and other foods, many sourced from local businesses.

We invite you to share some of our favorite wine and food pairings at free events held up to three times a week in our Winchester shop.
