History
Established in 2008.
This inn is one of Winchester’s original early inns, dating back to the 1700s. It really feels like you have stepped back in time two centuries when you walk through the front door, though it is now set up with modern conveniences. It is right downtown in Winchester’s historic district, so you can stay parked at the inn while walking on the pedestrian mall for dinner or shopping. The current inn-keeper acquired the building in 1987 and spent 20 years doing a very careful restoration. The old inn had closed during the war in the 1860s, and then became a rooming house for soldiers, then a hospital for the injured. By 1987, the building had been run down apartments for over a century, but is now considered one of Winchester’s prized historic buildings, having recently won the city’s preservation and restoration awards. The inn opened for short-term rental in 2006, and became a fully licensed historic hotel on May 1st, 2008. It is also a popular hangout for local citizens by appointment.

Business Owner
The inn-keeper, David McLaughlin just loves this old inn, and it shows. He spent years as a full time musician while painstakingly restoring this historic building. You’d have to see his photo book at the inn to believe what shape the building was in twenty years ago. David now is a fulltime inn-keeper and keeps the place open every day of the year.
