I attended a wedding reception at Crystal Peak this month and thought it was a nice venue. It had a bit of that wedding factory feel, but it had everything you’d need for a formal occasion, and it got the job done. The hors d’oeuvres were slow to come out, and I got very few of them, but dinner was very filling, and I didn’t particularly care for the food anyway. I chose the chicken marsala, and it ended up being grilled chicken topped with a fried, battered mushroom cap, covered in sauce and cheese. I wasn’t thrilled with this interpretation, but it wasn’t bad.
Overall, I had a good time. There was a decent bar right next to the dance floor, and the staff was friendly enough. It was a wonderful celebration, which was all that mattered.

Attended a wedding recently. The service was attentive. The food was creative and quite good, on par with anything you might find at a very good or excellent hotel catering situation in a big city. The Ballroom was tasteful and not overdone. The bar was good. The ceremony was held outside. Audio was excellent. Some street noise but not so much as to be a problem. Bring bug repellent.

I’ve been here three times over the course of eleven years. April 2001: Junior Prom! July 2009: A friend’s wedding. July 2012: Ten year high school reunion. I’ve had varying experiences at varying times in my life with this facility, both as a guest and as someone who’s had partial dealings with organizing an event.
When all is said and done, Crystal Peak is a fine facility for any large event. The food is solid (especially the appetizers), the waitstaff is friendly, and the owner is fairly flexible and accommodating when, say, you are expecting at least 60 people to show up for a class reunion and only 19 arrive. (May I bash my classmates here? No? Okay. FINE.) Granted, there aren’t many options for places to hold large events in Northwestern Connecticut. There are certainly other places, such as country clubs or perhaps the Wake Robin Inn in Lakeville, but this is a true banquet hall. It works perfectly for what it’s made for.

Crystal Peak is a beautiful venue. The only problem is the food is simply okay. I attended an event there a few weeks ago. The place is perfect for an intimate outdoor wedding. I love that the place isn’t gaudy but had all the perfect places for pictures.
Service and staff there was attentive and friendly. I didn’t care for the food because I thought it was plain and flavorless. The portions were HUGE. The larger than life portion size didn’t make up for the lack of flavors. I was dying for hot sauce. I had stuffed fish. I ate maybe 1⁄10 of the meal.
As for the dance floor, the setup was weird. The ballroom was huge but maybe 3 of the tables in the center were able to get a nice view of what was happening on the floor.
