Wimberley Kennel

After my dog was acting fearful after staying at a vet/​boarding place west of Mopac in Austin, we were on a mission to find a better place. We checked out Wimberley Valley Kennel after a colleague told us about the positive experience there, and were cheerfully welcomed by a down-​to-​earth owner who seemed to keep her fairly large kennel clean and tidy. Later we visited a nearby vet office, and a feed store, who also expressed good words about this kennel. Wimberley is a small town, and everyone seems to know each other so it seemed you could tell a good place from bad place quickly just by asking anyone. We liked this small town feel, and the fact that at the kennel the dogs could spend a good time outdoor out in the country setting, weather permitted. The size of the compartment for each pet also appeared large; and the rate was competitive. So far so good so we decided to take our dog there for our extended trip out of town.
So we went away on our trip and and it was the first time that I felt, unproven, that our dog would be treated kindly. And that made the trip a lot more enjoyable.
We hurried to the kennel on our day back home. Our dog was happy, and curiously checked out spaces at the front office, acting like he was not in a hurry to get home which was in contrast to the previous kennel where he acted like he could not wait to get out fast enough. We chatted with the owner a bit. It was a relaxing experience.
It was a long way to get to Wimberley Valley Kennel from where we live in Austin, and we don’t save time and money in the end; but we know that we have found a good place for our dog and that’s all that matters. Thanks, Laura, and keep on the good work.

I was going on a family weekend getaway and needed a place to keep our dogs (who are like my children!). I was having a hard time finding a place that would take them, as they are not spayed/​neutered and we have a pit mix. The ladies that I spoke to on the phone were very sweet and friendly and when I dropped off my babies they already knew their names! I was very comfortable with them, and they took such great care of our dogs. If I am ever vacationing in Wimberley again, I will for sure take our dogs there again!
