History

Established in 2014.

In 1974, at the age of 18, Debra Steidel purchased her first potter’s wheel that she still uses to this day. Over the years, Steidel perfected the techniques essential to throwing: centering her medium, opening the clay, and giving shape to the vessel with the graceful application of pressure and water.

Throughout her entire career, the name Steidel has become synonymous with mesmerizing crystalline glazes. For Debra, the vividness of the glaze is equally important to the organic formation of each unique crystal to maintain a harmonious composition. The recipes of her glazes have taken years, in some cases decades, to perfect.

Debra Steidel’s self-​taught style is ever-​present in her unorthodox porcelain tableware. She also continually strives to broaden her artistic vision by incorporating new techniques to her craft. In 2014, Steidel introduced her line of daring luxury lifestyle designs to an avid reception.
