Staff was friendly, but the quality of meat used for the fajitas was not good. Overall I would skip this restaurant next time.

Well, you’re in Wimberley– which isn’t a bad place to be, but– you’ve got limited choices in cuisine. This little joint is pretty cool for what it is, and the food’s not bad either. I ordered the Flautas and was pleasantly surprised– a nice, crisp corn tortilla wrapped around some lovely chicken chunks, with homemade guacamole on the side. This could have been a disaster– but, was far from it. The wifey’s enchilada was pretty tasty too, and the kiddo’s quesadillas kept them happy. Washed down with a Shiner– and I was a pretty satisfied camper. Nothing to be amazed about– but, not too shabby. The waiter was friendly– but not hovering. I’ll probably stop in the next time I’m in town.

Tucked off the beaten path on River Road, Juan Enrique is the one glimmer for Tex-Mex in Wimberley. I had recently ran into a former coworker who said he was waiting tables at Juan’s. I hadn’t been there in years so last week I payed a visit avoiding Austin for a change. We started off with John Henry’s version of tortilla soup. This particular item was near famous in these parts a few years ago. The tomato based soup was delicious as always. The kiddo did some damage to the small queso while I enjoyed my shrimp enchiladas. The poblano cream sauce could have used a tad more kick in the spice department; but it was a good dish. The rice was a pleasant suprise mixed with the enchilada sauce. Next visit I’ve got to try the Fajitas. The menu tells a tale of some sort of Polynesian twist. The staff was extremely friendly and attentive making me feel right at home. Sometimes I think I get caught up in the Austin food scene; so its nice to go local. This place does Wimberley proud

Juan Henry’s is OK, but really, there so many many better places to eat in Wimberley. It’s not«real» Mexican, just dull, and the margaritas are nothing special. In fact, there is nothing special about any of it.

My preferred Tex-Mex in Wimberley. Food is generally good — mole enchiladas are a personal favorite of mine. However, the service can be spotty, depending on what waitperson you get. Be on the lookout for the fellow with the waxed, Salvador Dali mustache(the owner, I suspect); he’s a hoot!

Middle of the road Tex-Mex. Wimberley is dry city so you have to get a «Club Membership» to drink. Good Margaritas. Very good nachos.

Yeah, like John B said, it is middle of the road Tex-Mex. But I am bumping it up one star, because I like going out to Wimberley and I had a dish there last night that I have never had before. Black Bean enchiladas. They were cheese enchiladas, covered in black beans. Pretty darn good, I thought. And I generally can’t resist the sour cream chicken enchiladas. Maybe black bean enchiladas are served at other Mexican restaurants, but I have never noticed before? Also while you are waiting for your table there are lots of silly signs posted around the waiting area that make for fun reading. My favorite sign at the bar reads«If you are drinking to forget, then please pay in advance.»
