Move & Groove Baby

My only regret is that we didn’t start sooner. After my daughter was born, I was looking for something like this to participate in. I kept coming back to this site, but never signed up. Finally (after my daughter turned two – I’m still kicking myself I waited that long!) I decided to try a class, loved it, and signed up.
I want to use this review to share some things I noticed that I think other people might want to know.
First, the studio is BEAUTIFUL. It’s very welcoming from the moment you step in, everything is nicely set up, organized, clean. There’s a private bathroom if you need it (easy to find), a few comfortable places to take a seat or seat your kids while you take their shoes off, and cubbies to keep your belongings while class is taking place. The owner clearly has thought of everything.
Speaking of the owner, she is so down to earth and professional at the same time! She has a way of making people feel INSTANTLY comfortable. (Something I noticed myself, which is huge because I have social anxiety disorder, but also something I observed in others and how they interacted with her and in the class.) All of the things I feared ended up being a complete non-​issue. No anxiety at all. She does just as well with the kids, creating a mood and environment that is nurturing, calm, and positive.
As for the classes, Ms. Dee does allow time in case some people might be running late, but this does not cut into class time. You get the whole 45 minutes. And during that time, parents can socialize with one another while the little ones run around and have a little «free play» time. Ms. Dee hands out balls as they come in to play with while they wait for class to start. Once class is ready to start, all the kids turn in their balls, then everyone sits in a circle and does the hello song. From there, the classes vary a bit depending on what class you signed up for, but you can look forward to activities such as:
Playing Instruments
Learning Musical Patterns
Active Listening
Imagination Play
Expressive Movement Dance (the kids love the little scarves she hands our)
Story Time
Sensory Experiences (Water misting on you during a song about rain, for example)
Turn Taking Activities
Bubbles
Focused Relaxing (teaching them to move from a high energy activity to sitting quitely and listening to a short song – this is a great way to teach self regulation)
This is just a short list of the things we have experienced in just THREE classes! And I’m probably missing some things!
If you miss a class for any reason, she gives FREE make up classes. I appreciate this both in the event my daughter might miss a class, and in the event that a child is sick – the parent doesn’t have to feel the need to bring in a sick kid, which makes me VERY happy as I have a daughter with some immuno-​deficiency issues who can’t be around sick kids where avoidable (Which brings me on to my next point)
Ms. Dee is ON POINT when it comes to keeping everything clean. I’ve noticed she even keeps the unused items separate from the used ones. So, for example, the balls that have been used go in a separate bin until she cleans then, then they go in the «clean ball» bin. And I see her wiping down and sanitizing everything before and after EVERY class.
I will close with this: my two year old LOVES this class. When my husband drops us off, she can’t get out of her carseat fast enough. She is SO excited to get inside, and seeing her have so much fun makes ME happy. Also, the more we go, the more she interacts with the class. (She’s a little shy like me… but she’s been warming up quickly). So while at first she needed a lot of encouragement to participate instead of just sitting nicely and watching, now I find with every class she is engaging more and more and more (and it’s only been three classes, like I said). I think she NEEDED this class.
I absolutely love everything about this place – the program, the teacher, the facility, the environment, all of it! I highly recommend parents in this area check it out. You won’t be disappointed!

When our baby was born, I was searching for a clean, fun, and comfortable environment to join Mommy and Me classes. As soon as I saw Move and Groove Baby, I was overjoyed! Ms Kim keeps this place immaculate and cleans toys after every class!
We started out in the «Backs to Feet» class taught by Ms Dee. Loved the class and her immediately! My son was about 5months old when we started. He picked up so many new skills and I learned dozens of ways to interact with him and stimulate his senses.
When our baby started walking around 8months, we added Ms Dee’s Kindermusik class. I couldn’t believe when two short classes later, my baby was «peek-​a-​booing» on his own and duplicating the hand movements related to each song!!!
We met tons of moms and other babies his age too!
BONUS: Ms. Kim is a lactation consultant too!
The only caveat is we had some difficulty with make ups, but our own schedule definitely made that harder as well. Also, certain classes (like Backs To Feet) are only offered at one time– so if it doesn’t work for you or conflicts with a naptime, you are out of luck that session.
Overall I LOVE THEM! Can’t wait for fall session to start! ;-)
