Very cute hotel! Mission style throughout and great décor. Prime Rib downstairs was great! The staff was wonderful! The continental breakfast was great too! I will definitely stay here next time I’m in town. The only downside was the bright green light shining through the hotel room door from the hallway, made it hard to fall asleep. Other than that the rooms were nice and clean. The lobby is perfect for Chinese checkers and a glass of wine or whiskey!

My husband and I went to the Sweetheart Wine Dinner expecting it to be the two of us just chatting during the many courses, but we experienced so much more than we were expecting! The owner walked the entire group through the 6 courses and their wine pairings which was a very unique experience. The food was superb and the wines were amazing. We made some new friends as well! Definitely a great experience and worth the price while supporting a small town business!

This is a great small-town, friendly hotel to stay at for a night or two. The rooms are basic with a TV, queen bed, and a bathroom with a cute style. The staff are very accommodating and sweet. They offered us a space heater for our room because it’s January and we are from California. The wifi has got to be a major highlight though, because it’s unlocked and you don’t need to give your email or type in a password to access the wifi. There are some hotels that accessing the wifi is extremely difficult, and it’s a big hassle. So the wifi is definitely what made this a five star review from me. I would definitely recommend staying here if you’re passing by.

Stopped in last week on my drive to western Kansas. Great food and drinks. Chris at the bar was awesome. Will definitely return!

3.5 stars. The good: 1. The bed was very comfortable. 2. The room had character, and not in a bad way. The not-so-good: 1. The fogged out window at the top of the door to our room ensured our room wasn’t very dark at night. 2. Even though there were few guests the night we stayed there, we could hear everyone who stayed on our floor(in other words, pretty thin walls). 3. The free breakfast was, eh, ok. Similar to what you’d get at a Super 8. Honestly, I feel conflicted. On the one hand, I want to fully support and rave a hotel that is not a chain and unique. On the other hand, I was a bit underwhelmed and didn’t find it to be an especially good value($ 79 plus tax).

This seems like a mom and pop type of hotel. It’s not 5 star nice but it’s cozy and rustic. The prices are very comparable to the best westerns hotels around. They accept AAA and last minute bookings. The rooms are small, basically only fitting a bed and a tv stand/dresser with little room to walk. Bathrooms are nice and clean. You’ll get all you need for the essentials, leaving little room for anything else. It’s a great passing by hotel to stay for a night or two. The staff are all extremely nice and welcoming. From the moment I called to ask for priced until the moment I checked out, I’ve not had one complaint. Breakfast are available from 6−9pm but can be extended if you ask. Breakfast items are pretty much all store bought small muffins, bagels. Etc. and hard broiled eggs with OJ, coffee and tea. I’ve heard very good things about their dinner too but I got here as their kitchen was closing(9−10pm) so I didn’t have the honor of trying anything. I would be back if I was ever passing by this area again.

Very nice hotel. Different from other chain hotels we’ve stayed along I-70 and this one was fit to it’s small town of Wilson. I recommend if you only need to stay the night and not in need of pool, laundry room, refrigerator or microwave since it’s not available. The elevator wasn’t working when we checked in but the extremely friendly staff offered to help with our bags. Went to the store down the street and seems that everyone knows each other. We enjoyed the stay.

This is a hotel worth stopping for. We were on our way to Hays to stop for the night but reviews of places to stay in Hayes were not good. Husband saw the sign for the Midland Railroad hotel and what nice reviews. We stopped and had a nice stay in Wilson. Highly recommend the hotel and staff. Slight problem with the WiFi connection but was taken care of. Price was right also. Breakfast was included. Called before we stopped and the night staff was helpful and informative about the hotel. A little write up on the history of the hotel would be nice. Always like the story

The dinner tonight was great. Prime rib exactly as I ordered it. The staff was polite and accommodating, and the bar downstairs was eat, clean, and comfortable. The guests and local customers had a great time together, and we slept well in the classic old rooms.

The architecture is wonderful. I love old buildings and this one is very charming. The room and bathroom are very cozy and Lots of character. It was a hot night and the air conditioning didn’t seem to do much for the humidity. it was a rough sleep, it was either too cold or too sticky. The price is unbeatable for what you get!!! I will be back

This is the only hotel in Wilson & vicinity and we needed to stay in this area last night. We’re really glad we only had to stay here for one night. When I’d made the reservation(many weeks ago), the wife half of the owner couple told me the elevator does indeed go to the third floor(I’d read some comments on TripAdvisor about the lengthy amount of steps). Well, guess what; we were strictly instructed upon arriving — and there are also signs — telling guests the elevator can only be used to go to the *second* floor. It’s not just the fact that we had to lug heavy luggage up a long flight of stairs, but it’s the fact that one of my knees is a mess and it was torture walking up that steep flight(and again after dinner and again after breakfast). In addition; when we first arrived at the bottom of the stairs leading up to the third floor, the stairway & entire third floor was completely dark and we had to get the reception desk person up there. It turned out that«Housekeeping» had turned off all the lights. The room smelled moldy upon entering(although the smell dissipated, since we apparently adjusted to it). The carpeting also didn’t look very clean. Admittedly the room was otherwise very clean and there was quality shampoo/etc. & soap. The hotel’s «restaurant”/bar was the only option for dinner in Wilson at that hour(which we knew would be the case). My husband ordered the grilled chicken with mozzarella sticks and I ordered the battered tilapia(the only non-meat options, other than fried shrimp). Also, the only non-fried options were a hamburger or the chicken. I’m being polite when I say that the food tasted like a frozen dinner.(Mine came with a «salad», which essentially consisted of iceberg lettuce and croutons). Out of desperation, we ordered dessert(cheesecake) — and that was the only palatable«food»(it was actually delicious [we ordered two different flavors]). Of course, it’s obvious they didn’t make the cheesecake. The meals were a bargain in terms of the cost(if we could ignore the taste); $ 7.99/each(and $ 3.50/each for the cheesecake). Our server was delightful, however; she’s the owners’ daughter(filling in for the regular worker). We didn’t mind the loud sound of trains passing through(and there were only several) and certainly we had no control over being blasted awake at 7:00 a.m. by an air raid siren — but when we finally managed to fall asleep again, we were practically jolted out of bed when the smoke alarm went off(momentarily — but at that point sleep was hopeless). The free continental breakfast was even worse than the dinner, if that’s possible. I looked at the bag of bagels(there was nothing fresh about any of the [very meagre] options) and the bagels had expired six days ago. There was white bread(yippee!) and other stale bread. The coffee was *vile*; absolutely undrinkable. In summary, I recommend that you stay elsewhere.
