Tama Tea

I am obsessed with this super new local business. I have been three times since they opened and thanks to my beautiful wife who knows me so well, I received one of their custom togo tea containers with a steeper for Valentine’s day. It’s perfect! I love being able to steep my tea in the same container and that it stays hot for a long time. It’s also well insulated so it’s not warm to hold from the outside. Holds about 10oz and the design is cool and simple. Everyone at my office keeps asking me where I got it. I hope the eventually come out with larger sizes.

I had driven by this place way too many times. I am so glad I finally stopped in. If you love tea this is a great place to stop. They have a beautifully organized area of loose tea (to purchase or to order for a drink). They sell tumblers and unique tea pots too. They mentioned they always have 2 different teas for sample daily.
I look forward to stopping and trying more. I absolutely love matcha. I had a Matcha Matcha hot tea, which is basically matcha and milk. I skipped the whip. It was delicious. I definitely felt that boost of energy to tackle the rest of my day.
The service was great and welcoming. I felt like I could easily ask questions and learn a lot. The «pastry» display was a little sparse and sad looking. This is a neat stop. I will definitely be back in again.

This place is really excellent. There are a few minor reasons I’m holding back a star, and I’d rather it was only half a star; the seating and interior is a bit sparse and I was hoping to find more herbal/​caffeine-​free tea options. But this didn’t stop me from really enjoying my experience here! I ordered the vanilla rooibos with coconut milk (frozen,) the Daybreak tartine, and two of their baked goods to-​go. I was pleased to find out I could choose either almond or coconut milk instead of dairy. Everything was fresh, timely, and delicious! I was checked out using the Square app, which is normally not something I would mention except that I wasn’t asked if I would like my receipt. I always get my receipt (emailed with Square) in the instance that someone mistakes the size/​flavor I wanted, forgot something, etc. I was also impressed with the fact that they use only recycled/​recyclable containers for our food, which is not exactly a priority in many places around here. Respect! Service was helpful and friendly, food and tea was great, and the quality and atmosphere reminded me of my favorite tea spot back home. I’ll be back!
PS: this place is ripe to become Wilmington’s only boba spot! I wonder if it’s something the owners would consider.

Finally decided to come out and I’m so bummed that I didn’t choose to do so sooner! I’ve really been missing out. I want to drink literally everything they have to offer. We got the mint chocolate tea and the green chai coconut, both hot, and they were SO good. Also. The girl that helped us out and showed us around was so sweet and so helpful. (She was really small with long black hair. I wish I could remember her name.) great work, guys! So glad to have you in town!

Went with a co-​worker on our lunch break and that was probably the best decision we ever made! I had a Bow Rider sandwich was deliciously cheesy and crisp with the Green Chai Coconut (warm!) which was AMAZING! The perfect balance of chai spice wand creaminess!
I would recommend this to anyone who digs clean but tasty food, without wanting a HEAPING portion that you shove in a to-​go box. Perfection and can’t wait to go again.

I’m 99.99 999% that after Tama Tea has been open for a bit, all of my Cons will be gone and it’ll be 5 stars, and even if not, I’m just nitpicking, I’m still planning on coming back regularly and bring everyone I know and possibly random strangers!
I love tea, and thrilled that there is a place to get a gray cup of tea in Wilmington!
Pros:
Huge selection of regularly changing teas on their tea wall, which is impressive considering that they haven’t had their grand opening yet. All 3 times I have been there, there have been a handful of swapped out teas!
Great friendly, and helpful staff, that aren’t too hovery or creepily over-​friendly
Large amount of unique specialty drinks, most I haven’t seen before in other places
Clean and neat space, with a cool atmosphere
Adorable, little side room that can be rented out
Haven’t tried the bigger Tartines yet, but they are the coolest thing ever
Great Prices on drinks and teas!
Food tastes delicious, and my Peachy Palmer tea was one of the greatest things I’ve had in a while
The fact that one can get blooming teas by the cup deserves its own ‘pro’ spot
Cons:
Portion sizes are the slightest bit on a too-​small side (for what I got, other Tartines seem bigger). I wasn’t expecting, nor did I want huge portions, but I was expecting my apple slice to be about the size of my palm, and ¼″ thick and the crostini for my trio of minis to be normal baguette slices (like 2 – 3 inches). When my food came out, the Apple slice was 1/​8″ on the thickest side and almost paper thin on the thinnest side, 15−20% smaller than my palm (I have small hands), and the minis came just past my knuckle on my thumb (my photos were taken *very* close). Plus when I looked at my photos, each of the toppings were about about a tablespoon, except for my chicken salad, which was about ½ or ¾ of a tablespoon, which I’m kinda meh about after the fact. I don’t think I over paid for what I got, I just think that I got an average/​okay value, instead of an above-​average/​good value as compared to some of the other Tartines and the Teas/​Specialty drinks which are a great value
While I think it’s cool that the condiments are free on the DIY-​Tartines, I’m sad that the only choices are Sriracha, Red Pepper flakes, Olive Oil, and Honey. I wish they had like rice wine vinegars or flavored vinegars, or Balsamic vinegars or vingarettes or dressing or mustards to drizzle on top or I’m not sure, the avocado spread could have used a sprinkling of salt (or fluer de sel if they want to keep it fancy). I’d be willing to pay extra for them too
The guy ringing me up didn’t know the ingredients to the pimento cheese, I have a weird allergy to chiles, not like I’m going to die, but I can’t have Sriracha or red pepper flakes, or cayenne pepper, and I know those are sometimes added to pimento cheese, and he couldn’t tell me if any of those are in it. I know they get the pimiento cheese and hummus pre made, but I don’t see why there couldn’t be a list of ingredients. Next time I’m just going to risk it, I wasn’t in a risky move today, kinda was in a hurry and I couldn’t get across what I was trying to say.
As I said before, my cons are nit-​picky, and by no means have I ever been really disappointed with my visits or will they stop me from coming back several times a month, it’s more of a 4.5 rating that 4! I’m already planning out what I’m getting next time

I heard about this place on Facebook and while I was in the area I thought this place would be great for a quick snack. Walking in the décor is simply gorgeous and kinda a lot when your not really a huge tea person. The cashier greeted us and asked if my friend and I had came before we replied no and she explained to us how everything worked. They have different teas that you can smell out to see what you like and they have a café side. I went and smelled the different teas which was nice but I didn’t have the courage to just get one so I took a look at their specialty drinks and after mins of deciding we got the matcha matcha iced and a peppermint mocha hot with a order of hummus and pita and the bow rider. The matcha matcha tasted like a green tea frap from Starbucks but less artificial and you could really taste the tea. It’s their top drink and I could understand why. The peppermint mocha is probably the best I had if your a huge peppermint fan then without a doubt try it cause it could change your mind about how it should taste. The hummus and pita was just like any regular hummus and pita. The sandwich was good it had Brie, bacon, and spring mix. Tasted weird not having a sandwich without any sauce but it was good I dipped my sandwich in the hummus a few times and that give it a nice touch :) If I was in the Mayfaire area I for sure would stop by here.

Cute store but the service was oddly slow considering there were only a few customers. Cold drinks tasted watery but my friend’s hot vanilla rooibos was delicious. Maybe stay away from the iced drinks and be patient with the new store.

Went here for the first time today — WOW!
I was the first of my group to arrive, and Eric greeted me and asked if I’d been there before. When I said no, he asked if I’d like a tour! The place is small, but he gave great suggestions based on my preferences — I ended up getting one of their signature drinks, the salted caramel (hot), and a tartine (toast) with apples, brie and honey.
Amazing overall, and great quality for the price. Cheaper than going to the Dunkin next door for lunch!

Tama Tea is a little gem in the forum shopping complex! Very clean with a warming inside housed with great music. The staff is friendly and outgoing they explain all the different teas in detail! So if you have home work or business work they are equipped with a nice lounge and WIFI. There are many teas that vary depending on taste. They also have some sandwiches and other little bites to eat. If your in the area visiting or local try this place out.

I’ve been now a few times since they opened, and I love it! They have a wide selection of teas which you can buy by the bag, or get hot or iced in the store. You can also smell any of the teas displayed on the wall, to get an idea of the flavor before choosing which type to get. They also offer specialty drinks and light food items. The employees are extremely friendly and helpful if you have any questions about different types of tea. Tama tea is quickly becoming one of my favorite drink shops!
