Small place located on Maryland Ave, in the shopping center next to the Deerhead Hotdogs. They have a little dining area and they only take cash, so make sure you bring some. The menu is cantina style authentic Mexican. I ordered a spicy chicken burrito and a steak taco. After seeing the burrito I wish that I didn’t get the taco. The burrito was huge and filled with rice, beans, chicken, onions and cilantro. It came with some salsa verde, which had a nice little kick to it. The burrito had a good flavor and was seasoned well. The rice was nice and fluffy. The cilantro and onions were fresh. I really enjoyed the burrito and would recommend for lunch or for a quick dinner on your way home.

This restaurant opened a week ago, replacing La Salsa which closed unexpectedly. The menu is very limited right now, but that’s because they’re trying to drum up more business before expanding it. That said, what I had was REALLY tasty. Truly authentic, unlike the other Mexican trash food in the Wilmington area. AND the refried beans are made with lard — like I said, authentic! They also make the corn tortillas. Yeah, baby! Ooh, and best of all, they have fresh tamales that have the perfect balance of meat and salsa, and the masa is perfectly seasoned as well!
Can’t wait until they expand their menu! I’m looking forward to my next trip.
