They provided me a room quickly for an affordable Price over night. The receptionist was very cordial. Room was near and comfortable. However, in the morning I awake to some bed bug bites. I didn’t notice them until I had checked out. I always check my mattresses and sheets before hand, but I didn’t notice anything like blood stains or black caucuses. But in the morning I had a bi surprise. About 7 bites and a big blood stain. Don’t stay here. Just avoid beg bugs entirely.

This place is a dive, given away by the«night check in» window that is like walking into a seedy check cashing operation. Signs in the window are hand written in magic marker, and affixed with Scotch tape. Walked in to the room with huge stains on the floor(great first impression), the sitting chair was burnt, the bedspread had stains all over it, and the tub wasn’t cleaned. Spent $ 125 for what I’d consider a $ 49 quality. I picked this location based on the reviews, and they did not reflect what I saw. This looks like a place that is going to lose its Howard Johnson franchise at any time. Not to mention but the location is sketchy, not a place you’ll be walking down the street after dark, without a death wish.

Very nice, clean, comfortable. Good price as well. The only thing I was unsatisfied with was the WiFi. The connection was very poor in my room. Other than that was great.

I stayed here on New Years Eve 2013 in preparation for my annual New Years Morning/Day surf session that’s been a tradition for me for the past 25 years. It’s been about 15 years since I lived in the Wilmington area, and I remember when this hotel was first built. I believe it was under the Courtyard by Marriott label then, and it was awesome back in those days. However, I’ve stayed in some real rat trap motels all over the world and usually don’t care about surroundings, but let’s just say that the other reviews here are quite dated. This place is a far cry from the way it was back in the day. I got a discounted rate of $ 42 before taxes thanks to the Wyndham Rewards program, and I couldn’t complain about the price, seeing how it was the eve of a national holiday and the rack rate was around $ 89. The rate I got actually turned out to be the cheapest in the Market Street area for New Years Eve. The pros: –Very large room. –Refrigerator, microwave, iron, ironing board, coffee pot, and wifi were included at no additional charge. –There were only a few other visitors, so I had the whole building practically to myself. –Real wood furniture, not the particleboard stuff. –Water pressure was very good. –Lots of restaurants and convenient stores surrounded the property, most within walking distance. –The TV picture was crystal clear for the unit being an old-skool model. –The front desk clerk seemed friendly enough. The cons: –Check the photos of the velour blanket and chair. Holes, stains, and a couple of types of fluids. ‘Nuff said. –The room had a foul odor. Couldn’t quite figure out what it was. Half a can of Ozium didn’t kill it. –The wifi was extremely slow. A standard web page with no graphics took about 15 – 30 seconds to load, and forget about using Facebook or Unilocal. It was free access, but still… –The telephone was constantly blinking the red«Message Waiting» light, which completely illuminated the room when all the lights were out. After a call to the front desk, I got a quick«there are no messages for you» response from the clerk, yet the light kept blinking once I hung up. I unplugged the phone. Problem solved. –The curtains didn’t completely shut. Good thing I had a backpack to anchor them down, overlap, and hold everything in place. –The hardcover in-room restaurant guide had an awesome design(I’m a graphic and web designer and have laid out tons of these things.) However, it’s 2014 now, and not 2008 – 2009 — most of the restaurants inside it were closed down! –There was a good sized 1×2 foot hollow panel in the wall, with a thin piece of mismatched wallpaper covering it. I wonder what was inside? HoJo, you might wanna take this property outta your lineup…

fabulous quick stop hotel. i took the redeye in from cali and they let me check in at 10am no problem. i looked soooo exhausted, maybe they felt bad but whatever it was i was glad to get some sleep! anyway, was in town to surprise my best friend, a marine coming home from afghanistan, so this was a perfect place to spend a few nights. the room was clean, it had a couch, microwave and mini fridge so that was great! the FOH staff were helpful in calling me cabs, giving me tips on what to see etc and the couple who cleaned the rooms were super friendly. if you need a quick stop or even a week long stay, this is a great place to crash!

Stayed here for a night and for an average level hotel it was quite nice. They are currently remodeling the rooms but the rates are still pretty cheap. We got a 2 double bed room for $ 42.
