Coastal Car Wash of Monkey Junction

They always do a great job. Staff are not super personable, but it’s a car wash and the end result is a very clean car in under an hour. The owner is always improving his operations as opposed to milking off of the location. We have been customers for 10 years and will continue to be.

Terrible! I live on the beach for over 10 years and had gone there before but when I’d asked the guy if he could get the salt water spots off my winshield he said he could not guarantee anything. I’d gone there before spending over $ 20 on the ‘manager’s special’ only to find that as soon as the car got wet again the crusty salt stains outside the windshield wiper area were still as cloudy as before the car wash. I refuse to go back there and being very well networked locally I will assure that my associates are informed of this insane policy. If you’re going to call yourself ‘Coastal Car Wash’ you should be able to handle salt stains on a windshield!

So if you ready my previous preview it was glowing with praise because I always used the automatic car wash. I just bought a new truck and it has a bit oversized tires. I can understand it not being able to be put through. I told the employee there that I wanted to get a hand wash since I could no longer run the truck through. He said they don’t offer hand washes. But they do offer hand wax. I guess I’ll have to go to Cruisers since they offer hand wash. Very disappointed that after coming here for over five years.

Went a few times an finally got tired of the Up charges for everything. I have a two seater 350z. They Wanted to charge extra to vacuum the trunk area (all 2 ft of it). I said it should be free since there is no backseat to vacuum Also tried to charge extra for bugs. There were very minimum bugs I mean just a few! When I bulked they took the fee off. Others do as well for less. Won’t go back.

First I’d just like to say that they did a decent job washing my car. Decent meaning I shouldn’t have paid $ 37 for it. It was an overpriced $ 20 wash. At first, the attendant was nice, explained that I would need to pay extra for the dog hair and let me take a few moments to clean out my car. It was all downhill from there. The owner gave me a blatant hard time about the tip (you had to ask for cash back in advance) and explained that the workers do not make an hourly wage. I was so taken aback and was basically forced to get more money back, in order to appease him. Then I waited… 45 minutes. After waiting so long, and now late to work I had hardly any time to inspect my car. I gave the $ 3 that I had gotten back in cash to the young man working on my car, who then AGAIN rebuked at the amount. It was rude, and it is the reason that I will not be coming back. Your boss’ pay arrangement is not my burden, and if I paid $ 37 dollars for a car wash, I expect someone to get paid decently. I got no respect and was not impressed with the thoroughness after inspecting it later. Shaming customers is insulting and I won’t be subjected to it again.
Update: due to the responses I have received I have written this statement: Here’s a tip — people working in the service industry are under no false impression of their employment circumstances. If they choose to work under the conditions that they do, I can choose to tip as I see fit without being pressured to do otherwise. Furthermore, my tip was based on the service performed AND the customer service at the counter. So the employee can thank his boss for that one too. Sorry you don’t see eye to eye with me, but I won’t be bullied into changing my opinion.

They do a fine job on the car for a fine price but everytime we’ve encountered the owner he is extremely rude. I won’t go there or let anyone else that will listen go there on principal. You need to treat costumers with some respect. To clarify: it’s not that he’s just not friendly. He’s actively and obnoxiously insulting and hurtful. I don’t believe in supporting people like that.

Best car wash in Wilmington, hands down and the only one on Wilmington that consistently fies an incredible job and values my business and me as a customer. I tried cruisers the other week and it wax a huge mistake! I’m back happy at Coastal in Monkey Junction, where their car wash service is a detail job, and not a catastrophe like the other two Wilmington businesses. The attendants are nice, professional and act like they care about and enjoy their job, and it shows in the quality, consistency, detail, and perfection of their work.

They did a good job with the actual car wash, but they are way over priced. They charge extra for anything more detailed than superficial vacuuming and wiping down the interior with just any old cloth. If not for the pricing, the service otherwise was pretty good, but I won’t be coming back here again. You’ll get just as good of service and better pricing, that doesn’t try to up sell you on tons of things that are included other places, at other car washes across town.
