History

Established in 2006.

Before Awakening Touch became, well, Awakening Touch, I was just a lone massage therapist taking clients in a studio. I wasn’t sure how to start my business or in what direction to take it. A year or so later I took the steps to turn my massage space into something more than just a place to come and get a massage. Awakening Touch was born!

Awakening Touch is where you go when you don’t want to go to a spa. I don’t rush your massage and I will take the time to understand exactly what you’re looking for in your session. It is my goal to provide affordable, effective massage therapy in a private, comfortable setting.

Massage as a profession began for me in March of 2003. Over the past 13 years this art has given me the opportunity to meet and help some amazing people, in various states and countries. My experience ranges from therapeutic/​rehabilitative to relaxing/​rejuvenating, and all that’s in between!

In August of 2015, I decided to relocate my life from Philly to Delaware. I currently have 2 locations in which to provide massage. Concord Pike, inside Art Fitness, is my headquarters. I also have an office in Center City, Philadelphia where I massage every Thursday.

I am thrilled to have my quest for the right touch masseuse to be resolved by The Awakening Touch of Danielle’s superb service. I recently came to Wilmington from Los Angeles where I lavishly enjoyed massages on a regular basis. My therapeutic experience began when I spoke with her on the phone to set my appointment.
When I arrived and stepped into the room, the ambiance spoke of her commitment to creating a healing environment that resulted in an inexperience that was more on the level of a phenomenal encounter.

This was my first time at Awakening Touch. Very relaxing atmosphere. Danielle gave me a terrific massage. She was in tune to areas that needed extra work and really went to getting those knots out! Still feeling great! I felt relaxed and comfortable for the entire hour. I will definitely use her again.

For those of you who like the spa type atmosphere, this is not for you… for those looking for a very good massage, this review is for you! Danielle knows what she’s doing and gives an excellent massage! Mind you, her studio is no frills (it’s in the basement of what appears to be a small gym)…but where you are won’t matter because as soon as she puts her hands on your back, you realize you’ve made an appointment with the right person. She is also open to customizing the pressure and it doesn’t hurt that she’s really nice! Thanks Danielle, I’ll definitely be back!

Before moving to the west coast, I had been seeing Danielle for years. I am a massage therapist myself, so very picky about who works on me and how it’s done.
After an appointment, I always left the table feeling like a large quantity of dollars. Possibly a million bucks even. I distinctly remember saying to her after nearly every session, «Why don’t I do this more often?» She hits all the right spots and is very attentive to problem areas. Her prices are incredibly reasonable for the amount of experience she has amassed over the years. Definitely check her out if you are in the Wilmington or Philadelphia area!

What a great massage. I booked an hour massage and a half hour foot reflexology session. Danielle was awesome. I was so relaxed and even dozed off during the foot massage. My snores woke me up, lol. The perfect amount of pressure. She automatically gave a first time customer discount. I asked her what her tipping policy was since she operates out of her home and I was confused how that works. She said she welcomed whatever I wanted to give her. So, I tipped her. I also bought a massage package (buy 3, get one free) which could be spit between my husband and I. He went to her and enjoyed the massage as much as I did!

Danielle is the absolute best! She really listens to you and tailors the massage to the areas that need work. Her studio is very clean, smells fantastic (eucalyptus I think?), and she always has great music playing. Best of all, is her calming presence. I always leave feeling relaxed, stress reduced, and ready to tackle the next few weeks until my next massage :)

My massage was so wonderful! The time flew by and I didn’t want it to end. The massage room was clean, calming, and comfortable, and Danielle’s presence is very soothing too. She was not imposing in any way, and went at a perfect pace. Danielle recognized and spent extra time on the areas that needed extra work. I felt rejuvenated afterwards and have had significantly less tightness in my neck and shoulder area. She offers a student discount, and I will definitely be back for another massage before the end of the semester!

If you are looking for a talented massage therapist who really listens to your needs, is responsive to your requests during the session, and makes you feel comfortable, then you’ve found the right place!
Danielle is talented, has reasonable prices and her work space is calm, clean and conducive to relaxation — plus it’s within walking distance of my apartment! While I can only attest to her deep tissue/​Swedish technique during my initial visit for a two hour session (yes, 2 hours!), I am certainly intrigued about trying the Lomi Lomi and Thai massages that she also offers.
I carry a ton of tension in my shoulders and neck and Danielle hit every knot and pressure point with my requested medium-​to-​firm pressure. I cannot recommend Awakening Touch enough and all I know is that I’m excited to schedule my next appointment!

I just moved to Philly for a new, stressful job, and needed to alleviate some tightness in my shoulders. I went to Danielle for deep tissue massage, and it was very good! I have only been once so far but I plan on starting to see her on a regular basis. I have received deep tissue massage several times before, and I must say she’s one of the best masseuses I’ve had. Also her place is very nice and cozy.

A wonderful massage from a skilled practitioner. Pressure was perfect; I told her medium but on the firm side, and that’s exactly what I got. There are 2 kitties on the premises, which to me is a bonus but for others may be a problem (allergies etc). I will be back.

Danielle is a phenomenal, intuitive massage therapist. I have bought a lot of Groupons and Living Social deals in search of a knowledgable and effective practitioner. I was so thrilled with Danielle after my first massage that I immediately snapped up a second Groupon and recommended her to all my friends.
Awakening Touch is located in a quiet neighborhood (off street parking available). The space is unpretentious (ignore the person who said it was like a frat house –it is not — it’s a home not a spa), the room is warm, and she even provides hot towels at the end of the massage. Danielle begins by asking questions about your preferences, any injuries, etc in order to customize the massage. On both occasions I asked for a general (all muscle groups) massage with special attention to my back. Danielle delivered exactly what my body needed. She is patient with hard knots and sore muscles, taking her time to release tight areas. Danielle is an extremely talented and attentive massage therapist (trained in multiple formats) — easily the best I have encountered in Philadelphia in years. I cannot recommend her highly enough!

Danielle was so professional and gave such a great massage. The neighborhood where her studio is was in itself, so soothing. The room she’s set up for her work is so nicely done, it smells amazing and was very quiet. I would definitely recommend her to anyone needing that deep tissue, focused massage. She works on whatever you need most and is very thoughtful. Next time I’m in Philly, I will definitely be coming back.

I am quite picky with massage. When I moved to Philadelphia 2.5 years ago, I tried a couple of massage places in Philadelphia but nothing impressed me. until I had a massage with Danielle. She definitely worked her wonder, I always like strong pressure massage, and it is difficult to find a massage therapist who could do that. When I mentioned this to Danielle, she definitely could deliver it. I do a lot of travels with my work, and I always try to make once a month visit to Awakening Touch.

I woke up yesterday morning with something pulled in my back and knew i needed to get a massage immediately to make me feel somewhat normal.
I called Awakening Touch and she let me know she had a 12:45 appointment, even better, she told me since I was a new customer I would recieve a discount. I love when places extend that courtesy without you having to bring it up!
The space itself is somewhat outdated and somewhat reminds me of a college frat house atmosphere… dingy carpet, older sofa… but if you are able to look past this, you will get an outstanding massage.
She offers a 75 minute massage for 90 minutes and I left feeling like a new person. Can’t wait to get back there (hopefully next time for a relaxing routine massage vs an emergency one)

I have gotten a lot of massages in a lot of different places but this is definitely the best. Danielle’s techniques are great, her facility is very relaxing, and as others have said, her rates are reasonable. Her attention to detail is fantastic, both during the massage as well as to the room and overall process. She is definitely amazing and I have been going to her for a couple years now. I always leave my appointment feeling a total state of relaxation.
I have moved to NYC but still come back to Philly for this.

Danielle was great. It was my first time going to an individual therapist who works out of their own space so I wasn’t sure exactly what to expect but she totally put me at ease. From the beginning when we did the initial consultation, she was very attentive to the areas that I wanted to focus on and made sure to clarify all the important items any good therapist should cover (i.e. allergies, pressure intensity, previous injuries, etc.)
The massage itself lasted the full time and my neck/​shoulders felt a lot better. I would recommend her to anyone who wants a quality massage from an experienced therapist at a reasonable price.

One of the best massages I’ve ever received in Philly. Danielle is extremely talented, strong and attentive to your problem areas. She even does the glutes and stomach (after asking if you’re okay with that, of course). There is nothing worse than a massage on only some parts of your body. Danielle also has a very calming pressence that immediately brings your stress levels down.
Her space is very relaxing and comfortable. The music, the scent in the room, and the oils are all perfect. Nothing was overwhelming and all blended together to create the perfect atmosphere.
I’m already booked for the next one!
