Specialties

The Anevay Dance Program is specially designed to provide all interests ages 3 and up with the ability to not only learn but master the art, meaning and skill of dance while instilling discipline to help build the human mental, social and physical psyche to create new and beautiful dancers. This program offers various dance classes such as ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, and liturgical which are all classified under different levels. The dance classes are all structured by age for the first month so the instructor, Mrs. Charita Muhammad, can observe each student so she can place him/​her in the correct level class. The classes are constructed to expose the students to fun dance choreography, high levels of energy, good health increased flexibility, and rhythm (of course!). In each class, the students will be taught stretch exercises, floor exercises and dance routines.

History

Established in 2004.

Anevay Dance was founded by Mrs. Charita Lawrence-​Muhammad in May 2004. It has served many areas on the East Coast of the United States in many ways. Anevay students and staff range from New Jersey to Georgia. This program is in the process of establishing its first academy in Raleigh, North Carolina. Our dance team has been growing more and more since 2009. The team has performed for school talent shows, dance recitals, festivals as well as for special events such as but not limited to, wedding anniversary celebrations. Anevay Dance appears to connect with many businesses by providing dance workshop classes. These businesses are but not limited to, World Fitness of South Carolina, Unchained Talent in Baltimore, MD, and elementary schools of Hampstead, NC. We are now located in the state of North Carolina to stay.

A mother of two and spouse of First Class Petty Officer Kaz Muhammad is a 30-​year old native of Bloomfield, NJ whom holds a Morgan State University B.S. in Communications-​TV/​Film Production, Event & Wedding Planning Certification, Advanced Youth Development Certification, Dance Educators of America Certification and 28 years experience in dance. Although she attended Marie Wildey School of Dance in East Orange, NJ for 10 years, she considers herself a self taught dancer. Ever since the age of 3, dance has been her heart, her soul, her passion. She specializes in tap, jazz, hip hop, modern, and liturgical. From the age of 12, Charita has been a chosen choreographer for various non-​profit organizations, private schools, churches and random groups of children/​teens/​adults. Throughout her dance career, she has participated in 15 dance recitals, 3 competitions, and received 27 awards. She always wanted to start a program where students could master all aspects in dance while enjoying it.
