If you are looking for a relaxing mani-​pedicure experience without the chemical smells of many nail places this friendly salon is for you. You are greeted by name as you enter the store and helped to pick out the just right color for you. It is a friendly neighborhood place with a very kind and helpful staff. A real treat.

I do not write many reviews, but I have been going to shape & color for a long time now. Great location and nice owners. I am there every other week.

What a pleasant morning!
I got a basic pedi and gel manicure (which, if you haven’t tried — what are you waiting for?) and I am so very happy. The owner greeted me and helped with selection of color — and for a man, has exceptional taste. Definitely lead me in the right direction. Every member of their staff was friendly, conversational and my manicurist was very thorough. Detail given to each nail — you know what I mean.. . made sure that cuticles were neat and trimmed, nails filed clean and even, and took her time in the drying light for the gel.
Very clean location, excellent selection of colors, and friendly people. I loved that everyone (with exception of me, since this is kind of new to me to get this done on a regular basis) was greeted by name! A «Cheers» in the nail salon world — who would’ve thought it! I will definitely be back. I think I have found my happy place.
My only suggestion for them is.. . a little more leg and foot massage. It is such a treat to get the occasional foot rub.

Love this place! I just moved in to the Evanston area and went into this gem purely because of the reviews! The owner, Polo is awesome and makes his salon very unique in comparison to other nail salons! And the prices are very fair! Very clean, very nice, caring and patient. I am very picky when it comes to my nails and I am hooked! They do a very good job, I have tried two of the techs and both were wonderful! MUST TRY at least once and you will understand what gem this place is!

Outstanding place for a manicure and pedicure, I’m a regular and wouldn’t think of going anywhere else. The owners and staff are fantastic!

I just moved to the Skokie area and was looking for a nice salon to get my mani-​pedi done before vacation. I saw the reviews for Shape & Color and dragged myself over on a snowy night. I was not disappointed!
The staff was very friendly and attentive. Even though I went on a slow night I feel like some places are more apt to give you bad service during those times than good. The young lady who did my much needed mani-​pedi (and I sincerely apologize that I didn’t get her name) was very meticulous. The end result was one of the best mani-​pedis I’ve had in the Chicago area so far since moving here almost a year ago.
The facilities are very clean, the ambiance is modern but serene. The gentlemen up front were very nice and helpful with getting my snowboots on my freshly painted toes. I’ll definitely be coming here from now on. Thank you!

One of the best or may I say it is the best nail salon I ever been … Customer oriented, they know how to make me feel better, look better by taking care of the needs of my nails… I work a lot and they treat me like a princes … Very well recommended, right price and a right place for nails!!! I went to Shape and Color becauase of all of the good reviews, and I thought the people were very nice but my experience wasn’t that great overall. First, the décor looks a little tired to me. Also, the instruments that the woman used were rusty. But most importantly, I didn’t find the person who worked on my nails to be very meticulous and she didn’t even put a top coat on me, so my polish didn’t last very long. She did the polish after she asked me to pay and give her the tip. I had given her a 28% tip, so I was a little disappointed that she rushed through the rest of the manicure. I have had a lot of good manicures in the last several years, but this was the first place that left me a little disappointed.

Meh. This place is pretty much «suburbs good». Nothing special — pretty expensive for what it is. They did a fine job, though I would have liked some more buffing and scrubbing on callouses. Massage was a little half-​assed. Overall they were pretty efficient and my mani/​pedi looks good. Not great. Surprised to see all five stars so just wanted to give my diff opinion. For $ 40 for a mani/​pedi I expected a little more.

Extremely kind and friendly — the service is wonderful. I love the scrubs they use for the manis/​pedis. The massage chairs are a nice touch while receiving pedicure services. This is my go-​to nail place for any occasion.

I decided to go here after the not so nice reviews of the place across the street. They were extremely kind and friendly. I was mostly surprised that my manicure and pedicure took an hour. I have never had that long of an appointment at any nail studio. I am very pleased with the results, and would love to return but am moving away. I would recommend this place over all the others I’ve been to in the Wilmette/​Glenview area. Just remember to bring cash for tipping.

I love this place. And I keep going back! I brought my friends and my Mom here many times. They take their time here, they have great colors and gels, and are meticulous about everything. The owner, I believe (the one in the hipster glasses :) makes everyone feel welcome and their customer service is great. Even though this place is a bit of a drive I am super happy every time I am here.

I’ve been back here many times and… still 5 stars! The polish lasts and lasts regardless of who does my nails, and the massages are killer. I’ve started tacking on a 20-​minute chair massage at the end of mail nail service. The massages are strong, deep and incredibly relaxing.
The salon has changed ownership since my first visit several years ago. I think most if not all of the staff changed too. But the current owners are super nice and my nails still hold up for a week. I’m a fan!

Went to this salon using a Living Social deal and had a terrific experience. The salon is beautiful and tranquil. The employees are warm and friendly. Had a totally relaxed experience and will definitely return

After hearing about this place that my wife and her friend frequently visited for girls’ afternoons out, I dropped in with my wife after lunch because she wanted a pedicure. Instead of standing around, I decided to get one of my first manicures. First off, the place is clean and in a great location. Second, the people who own the shop are really friendly and inviting. The process was painless and I was pretty intrigued by the gunk that I saw come off my fingers (maybe this is the norm, but definitely seemed like they were doing a good job). I really enjoyed the hot towel for my hands at the end… felt good. Great experience, even for the uninitiated like me.

My review is long overdue… I simply love this place! A friend and I have been coming to Shape & Color Nails since Aug and have been regulars. I started out getting regular manis/​pedis and have moved on to getting no-​chip for the past 4 months. Simply the best manis and pedis that I’ve ever gotten in any city. My no-​chip easily lasts at least 2 weeks and looks great the whole time. The owners, Jun and Polo, are very attentive and are very good technicians. I’m very hard on my nails and hands, and so it’s a feat that my no chip man can last as long as it does.
The service at the salon is unbeatable — the owners will greet all of their regulars by name every time and are super personable. You also get a quick back massage with each service!
The salon also makes these amazing seasonal, homemade, all natural sugar scrubs (green tea, coffee, lemon, pumpkin, etc.) that they use for regular manis. They are a must try!
Lastly, they have this great loyalty program where you bank 10 percent of the cost of the service towards a future mani and/​or pedi. Highly recommend participating!

They have remodeled their place! Looks very modern and nice-​very clean! So I’ve been coming back every 3 – 4 weeks for no chip mani– (this is how long they last– and I’m a dentist –very rough on my hands). My pedis have lasted 5 – 6 weeks or longer– I can’t rave how much this place takes their time to give you personal attention (always remembering your name even when they answer the phone!) and giving my hands and feet the royal treatment! I even forgot my flip flops and they gave me a pair to go home in! See you in 4 weeks Polo and Jun!

A long overdue review…
There is a reason this place has so many 5 star reviews– it’s because its awesome! They take their time and are meticulous. So no, you can’t be in and out in 20 minutes – it’s not that kind place– a manicure takes 45 minutes and your nails look amazing after.
The owner makes the most wonderful sugar scrubs– I wish he bottled and sold them.
Even though I’m not here as often as I want to (those kids keep eating up my time!!) the owner always greets me as though Im there every day.
My older daughter loves coming here and one should always trust a 4 year old!

I’ve been looking for a new nail salon after several disappointing experiences, and I think I’ve found it! I read all the other Unilocal reviews, and they are so true. Salon was clean, everyone was very courteous, and I got a wonderful pedicure by an experienced and skilled nail technician. And, what a great surprise to receive a little shoulder massage afterwards. Highly recommend! Ill be back!
