Established in 1994.

Northshore Automotive is family owned. After 14 years working in dealerships our founder Tim Fella decided to open his own business to provide customers with reliable service & fair prices. We started out specializing in Toyota and have expanded to include all Asian & Domestic models. Our technicians have a combined total of 77 years of experience. We started selling quality pre-​owned cars in 1999.

I’m new to town and I don’t know anything about cars, so I was nervous about being told I needed lots of work and having to pay lots of money. But this was a wonderful experience! Everyone was very helpful and friendly. They told me exactly what needed work and how much it would be. There was no sales pressure and the conversations were always honest and direct. I’m very happy about my experience here.

These people have really been great to work with. They are always very professional, knowledgeable and extra courteous. You don’t always find that in a mechanic shop. They were honest with me about what I needed to have done and not, how long I could wait for a certain repair, and things I needed to have done right away. It’s hard to find a mechanic that you can trust, especially when you’re new to an area. I know I am not going to get ripped off and nickel & dimed, they don’t add a bunch of extra charges to the bill. They tell you what they are going to do, WHY (that’s important to me), and how much it is going to cost in advance of doing a repair. They are very clear communicators. I can’t speak highly enough about these guys.
I give them all of my car repair business and I haven’t purchased a car from them yet but will definately give them my business when I am ready. I have to give a particular kudos to Ryan and Tim, the owner. They’ve just been personally great to work with. They are particularly technically knowledgeable and know the business really well — typical common issues with certain vehicles, how much parts costs, fair market prices, etc. This makes me really comfortable that I am making good decisions with my car. Good, honest people in a business like this are hard to come by — these guys are the real deal.

Went in the day before a holiday weekend for regular mileage maintenance (oil/​rotation etc.) Didn’t want to go back to dealer ($$$) and was referred to NS by a friend. The car had been handling a bit strangely, but didn’t think a whole lot about it. In discussion with Ryan he mentioned sometimes hybrids have issues and described exactly what I was experiencing. Turned out my rear brake calipers were dragging and almost nonfunctional. They provided a loaner and had my vehicle ready by the next morning before they closed for the holiday. It was also a fraction of the cost that I would have spent with a Lexus dealer. Will not be going anywhere else from now on.

I have nothing but great things to say about Tim Fella and the staff at Northshore Automotive. I have been a customer for over 10 years and always have found them to be fair and courteous and always helpful. They also took the time to give me rides to and from my office when I needed to drop off my car for the day and had no way to get to work. Above and beyond! I bought a car from Tim a few years ago and was very happy with the price and the experience. I have recommended Northshore to several people over the years and will continue to do so.

Ryan Kepes is my hero! I was stuck in a parking lot about to start an important trip and the steering wheel just WOULD NOT move. The typical jiggle didn’t work; it felt well and truly broken to me. It was already evening but I called Northshore Automotive and Ryan offered to you stop by on his way home. How nice is that? And, best of all, he fixed it in about 2 seconds! He was polite, friendly, and helpful with my questions, a really lovely and professional guy. A class act! I wish I could give Northshore Automotive 6 stars.

I am a Wilmette native and I live in Chicago and I still make the trek up to Wilmette every time I need work done on my car. Every single time I have been into NorthShore Automotive they have been incredibly helpful and efficient. The staff is so kind and I trust them completely with what work my car needs. As we say in my family, having a automotive shop with people you trust is like gold!
Every time I have called they have been able to fit me in that day. Just the other day I called at 4pm asking if I could bring my car in before they closed at 5:30. They were understaffed that day and were able to squeeze me in last-​minute and help me with my car and easily explain to me, someone who does not know much about cars, what needed to be done and they have always given quality advice about what needed to be done with my 2003 camry.
I would recommend this shop to anyone in and around the area who needs repairs for their Toyota or Honda. They are kind, trustworthy, time efficient, and extremely flexible Your loyalty towards them will pay off!

Tim has been repairing and maintaining my Toyotas for over 10 years. I have found the work to be consistently superior and dependable. His charges are fair and reasonable. I have recommended him to many friends. The shop is located on Green Bay Road, right near the Wilmette Metra station. It’s very convenient if you have to leave the car to use the bus or the train to return home.

Tim, the proprietor, is very affable and it is clear that he cares about his customers and their automotive well-​being. They do good work for reasonable prices. They’ve done tires and brakes for me. I have always been satisfied by the work. I’ve never felt like they’ve tried to sell me things I didn’t need.
If you live or work in the area, this is a great place for repairs or general maintenance.

I’ve been a long-​time customer of NS Auto (over ten years). I’ve always found them to be extremely competent, professional, and friendly. They explain what needs to be done in simple English and take pride in their work. Also, they do not talk down to women. I have had only positive experiences with NS Auto including a pre-​owned car I bought about six years ago. I’ve never had a problem with it. I trust this company and recommend them for repairs/​service and purchases of pre-​owned vehicles.

These guys are skillful. I wont double it. But let me tell you something. They kept telling me not to send to the toyota dealership to repair my car because dealership charges more. I think not. My car got towed in. They charged me $ 300+ for the disgnosis alone. Grossinger Toyota charges a flat rate of $ 67.50. Thats because they dont charge for the labor hourly. And also before the new car engine part reaches your hand, you shouldnt call your clients and tell them to pick up the car at a certain time. Thats just common sense. I went there to pick up my car and turned out it wasnt done and i had to wait for 4 hours there. Engine light went on again a few days after they changed the fuel pump. Sent it back in to inspect. They ran a test and said the problem wasnt big. But it is still a problem. Minor or not. Went back on again today. That is why I come back to the dealership and found out more info about charges. Very disappointing. :-(

I have been going to this Auto Repair shop for years. They are the best around. Known for their Honesty, Best Prices and Excellent Mechanics they are by far the BEST. They Would NEVER service you for something you do not need. They are always courteous and look out for you and your cars best interest. Wether you are interested in purchasing a New pre-​driven vehicle (they have some great ones or can get you one) or just want to take care of your own. You will be in great hands here.
