The American Automobile Association (the «AAA» or «Triple-​A») was founded on March 4, 1902, in Chicago, Illinois when, in response to a lack of roads and highways suitable for automobiles, nine motor clubs with a total of 1,500 members banded together to form the Triple-​A. Those individual motor clubs were the Chicago Automobile Club, Automobile Club of America, Automobile Club of New Jersey, Long Island Automobile Club, Rhode Island Automobile Club, Philadelphia Automobile Club, Princeton University Automobile Club, Automobile Club of Utica, and Grand Rapids Automobile Club.

Gayle Pierce is amazing. Let me rephrase that: Gayle Pierce is AMAZING! We wanted to get out of town for the holidays and go someplace warm. I was too busy to do a good job on my own, so I emailed Gayle with our very broad parameters. Within 24 hours I had several options, and we chose one that fit our interests and budget. We also had to make lots of changes (to flights, number of people traveling), and throughout, Gayle was good-​natured and patient. Not only did we have good hotel and flight options, but Gayle also found us the best whale watching and snorkeling opportunities as well as sending me a long, annotated list of restaurants in our destination city. What was so wonderful is that she really understood our interests and intentions with this trip, and shaped our experience to fit us. If you are an AAA member, by all means contact Gayle for your next vacation. It will be fun, seamless, and low-​stress thanks to her great planning.

I went into the AAA office to get some books for our trip out to South Dakota. They were really helpful in mapping out the route, giving me books and offered to help me find hotels at a discount.
