Anderson’s Frozen Custard

Tried my first Beef on Weck sandwich on my last business trip. Definitely something worth to try. The beef was a little too pink for me but the bun made up for it. They also have lots of flavors of custard and ice cream. Also gotta love they have loganberry soda!

I love me some Anderon’s food, but I think I’m done with this location. To be short, the food is good but the service is awful. And Anderson’s is not cheap, to pay this much for food and have the management so poor is just terrible.
Today we came here on Mother’s day. Honestly, we ate at Ted’s first because it’s cheaper, has better service and the kid likes it more. But we came here after for ice cream. We spent $ 20 on lunch at Ted’s and $ 12 for ice cream at Anderson’s.
They were offering a free Mother’s Day sundae but it was mega small so I opted to buy my own. The manager on duty decided Mother’s day, aka the busiest day all year in restaurants, was a good training day for a new staff member. So the newbie made my sundae. He didn’t know yet how to put custard in a cup so I was short changed a lot of ice cream. Then the manager spent 5 minutes explaining to him how to put hot fudge in the cup, all while my small amount of custard melted under it. My husband ordered an arctic swirl, it took the manager another 5 minutes or so to explain that to the newbie while my sundae melted more. And all while my toddler melted down because he wanted ice cream and we were stuck being the newbie’s learning experiment.
I spend $ 12 on two things on ice cream, I want it fast and before it’s all melted because the manager’s poor training. I didn’t even eat half of my sundae because it was all melted and gross. Have some common sense Anderson’s! Someone comes in with a toddler, they aren’t full of patience while you spend 10 minutes turning their order in to a learning chance for your new employee. AND ON MOTHER’S DAY! All this Mom wants to do is sit down and eat her ice cream in peace while it’s still solid and not melted.
I’m done with this location for a bit, I’d rather drive further and go someplace where the managers know what they are doing.

Why is this not 5 stars from everyone? For a fast food place this place is great. I’m here on vacation from Southern California. If this place was plopped down in Orange County it would be a big success immediately. Please open one (or 20) here. My suggestion is to put one in the City of Orange.
I had a Salmon burger and sweet potato fries!!! It was good. My wife had a hot dog and Hungarian mushroom soup. We had vanilla Ice cream for desert.
They use high quality natural ingredient for about everything. Service was efficient. Very clean and friendly. Good variety of food items plus ice cream treats, etc.
Too bad we found this place on the last day of our vacation. We’re on a plane to California tomorrow morning.

This is always my first stop when I’m back in Buffalo. I have to get a beef on weck, fries and rings. What can you say? It’s just good. I’m always content when I leave. The food is quick, fairly priced and the service always reminds me of why I miss Buffalo.

Received very poor customer service from Manager Tasha. We usually eat at the location closest to our home (NFB location), but we were in Williamsville for the day and looking for a quick dinner. The young lady taking our order and one of the young men prepping our food were happy to accommodate a special request we had for one of our children, however Tasha overheard and said that there was no way they would accommodate.
We had asked if they would please assemble a BLT (not on their menu, we know, however they have all the fixings) and we offered to pay the price of an basic adult burger for the sandwich (well above the cost of a BLT, I’m sure) Gasp! Shock! Horror! There has never been a restaurant in my nearly 40 years that hasn’t accommodated this request, either for myself or someone else in my party looking for simpler fare.
Just keeping our fingers crossed that the gluten free bun we needed for our child with celiac disease was handled appropriately by Tasha.
We’ll be sticking with the NFB location.

The best frozen Italian custard I’ve ever had. I always get the choc/​vanilla twist!

Besides the more «suburban» look — café lights, textured wallpaper, window treatments — this is pretty much like every other Anderson’s.
We ordered beef on weck with horseradish and it was pretty good. They were a bit heavy handed with the horseradish, but not so much to make it bad (just clear my nose a few times!). For dessert, 2 soft serve custard cones with sprinkles. Black raspberry/​vanilla with rainbow sprinkles and pumpkin with chocolate sprinkles, yum!
The restaurant was clean and the staff were pleasant. No complaints.

Food is ok when you actually get what you order and is on your receipt. NEVER ORDER TAKE OUT WITHOUT DOUBLE AND TRIPLE CHECKING (open the wrappers too). Just can’t seem to get a take out food order right. Second time in a row I have gone without my Dinner. Going to Charlie the Butcher in Williamsville from now on. Sent them a message on their Facebook page and their response was
We’re sorry for your disappointment in our service at our restaurant. That’s unfortunate. Have a good night. Unfortunate for them that they lose my extended families business. I will tell two friends and they will tell two friends and so on and so on.

From out of town. Was told to try Anderson’s for their roast beef and kimmelwek rolls and the Loganberry shake. I really liked the roll perfect balance of a soft roll and yummy salt on top the meat was tender too. The shake was a classic milk shake. Pretty sweet tasting but the salt from the roll balanced it out. Fun trying what the locals eat.

Outstanding Ice Cream. And in a «Full Buffalo» moment, Ice Cream is 50% off when it’s snowing! Nikita Khrushchev is spinning!

Anderson’s on Main Street in Williamsville is always a solid go-​to when we’re looking for a quick bite to eat. The location is very convenient to everything and I feel like it’s kinda the start of the village strip.
Service is always prompt and polite. I’ve never gotten a wrong order there. My favorite food to get is either the Buffalo chicken tender sandwich– which is basically 2 chicken fingers doused in delicious hot sauce, on a Costanzo’s roll. It’s always cooked just right and so tasty! The curly fries are always a good side with that.
When I’m not in a spicy mood, I like to get the roast beef on kimmelwick, which is always delicious. Never dry or bland.
For dessert, I go for their custard. They have a great variety of Perry’s Ice Cream, but I pretty much always get chocolate custard, with chocolate sprinkles, in a waffle bowl. Or to change it up, a twist with rainbow sprinkles, still in waffle bowl. They have a bunch of specialty sundaes as well as milkshakes and root beer floats.
They have outdoor seating open in the summer which is nice too. All around a good place to stop with inexpensive prices, consistent service and great food!

If they only sold canned ham, or if they constantly sent you unsolicited promotional emails, then they would be known as Spamdersons. But they don’t. So they’re not.
What to get: Buffalo Chicken Tender Sandwich.
What else is good: Beef On Weck, Ice Cream.
If you’re in Buffalo and you have some kids with you, this is a really safe bet. It’s great for kids and some of their items are actually really good.
By the way if you only come here to use the toilet, you may as well call it Candersons.
So about those items —
— The Beef On Weck is ok, it’s tasty, it’s small, but Charlie The Butchers is way better
— The Sponge Candy Ice Cream they sell is amazing and very Buffalo — made by Perry’s though
— The Buffalo Chicken Tender Sandwich is fantastic and very very Buffalo — juicy and hot and yummy
— The Soft Serve is absolutely delicious, it’s the Buffalo version of Rochester’s Abbott’s… it’s wonderful. I highly recommend it.
If Mr. Stoker who wrote Dracula owned this place, it would be called Bramdersons. But he doesn’t. So it’s not.
The Buffalo Tender sandwich I mentioned, it’s basically a couple of chicken fingers on what appears to be a Costanza Roll (Buffalo’s best rolls) and it’s luvvvvvvly. Yumtastical. Love it. Love it. Love it. Hot, juicy, tasty, very well done. My one gripe is that the lettuce they put on it is often withering and old. But let’s not split heirs over it. That’s what Guillotines are for.
If your mother’s mother came here a lot, they’d call it Grandersons. Actually, if she’s still with us, she probably does.
So yes you must bring your kids here. I’ve heard the fries and gravy are good too but here’s a secret… Americans don’t know how to make chips (fries) so yeah. Sorry. Anyway where were we. Oh yes.
If all the girls that worked here were super hot Hooters types then it would be Glamdersons. But those kinds of girls tend to work at Tullys or Brick House or… um… Hooters. Or Pharoah’s. Ahem. The girls that work here are mostly 14. You know, the kitsch American place that looks like Pleasantville? There you go, now you get the picture.
And since it’s Buffalo, it will pretty much never be known as Tandersons.
Oh and did I mention, Neo from The Matrix and Pamela Denise opened this place, and never looked back.

I love Anderson’s for the friendly staff, good food, and clean atmosphere. I haven’t visited a location yet and found myself disappointed. (I will admit though, once or twice the dining room has been a bit overlooked, but as soon as I go to the counter and let them know, someone is sent right out to tidy up).
I am a huge fan of the hot turkey on kimmelwick, (I know, I know, who doesn’t order roast beef here?!) I’m very picky about my turkey (it can’t be that slimey deli stuff!) and Anderson’s does it right. It’s hot, fresh, and delicious. And it’s all even better on kimmelwick with honey mustard and lettuce.
And the ice cream! From the custard to the hard ice cream to the ice cream cakes and other frozen treats, I love their selection. My favorites are the birthday cake arctic swirl and the ice cream cakes in the freezer. For special occasions, I’ll pop in and grab a ready made cake and I’ve never had a complaint. I love that delicious chocolate crunchy middle with fudge!
Overall, a great place for a meal — eat in or take out — for all ages. Lines can get long in the summer (especially after a youth baseball game ends!), but they usually move fairly quickly and it’s totally worth it!

Feels very much like a chain Resturant, but nice and clean.

Beef on wick and custard are amazing. Other then Charlie and the butcher this is my favorite place to get beef on wick. I’d recommend going big and getting the 5 oz sandwich, you’ll be glad you did.

I’ll need to separate my review into 2 sections: 1 for the custard and 1 for the food.
Custard — The custard here is pretty good. I’d give it 3 stars as it was okay. Nothing mind blowing but a nice treat to have once in a while. It’s a bit on the heavy side for me and perhaps I’m not much of a custard kind of guy so take this review with a grain of salt. I’d much rather have hard ice cream over custard.
Food — I only tried the BBQ sandwich which was composted of roast beef and bbq sauce and that’s it. This was in the 1.5 star range for me. Sometimes I wonder if people know what BBQ sauce is or if they’ve tried it at a real BBQ joint before because this was not it. It was a more vinegar like ketchup with a hint of molasses. Anyway, stay away from the food or at least the BBQ sandwich.
If you want some custard I think it’s worth a visit but if you’re hungry go somewhere else.

My Sister is back in town for a visit and wants to hit up all of her favorite places to eat. Anderson’s for ice cream it on her list in addition to Duff’s, Might Taco, and Ted’s
The soft custard is very good. They also have a large variety of hard ice cream as well as soft frozen greek yogurt, lemon ice and fruit whip.
Anderson’s is also know for their Beef on Weck and Curly French Fries.

Late summer, no noon crowd. Well gee, it’s no wonder. I so want to love Anderson’s and not just the ice cream, which I do. Sometimes, I like the food and experience more than others, so I do return. The servers are usually eager to help and very energetic, but mostly new, young faces greet you each visit. Also, Anderson’s appears to be fully well staffed behind the counter.
The ice cream is the best part of the visit. The lemon ice is a close second, don’t hesitate to order their smooth and icy creation if something light is what you’re hankering.
I’ve not liked the roast beef sandwiches each time I’ve gone, and it’s probably just me, but I don’t like the roll soaked in what looks like, gosh, how do I say this, diluted blood. I thought au jus was brown, but the roll is always a soggy pink color. I understand you can ask for a more well done slice of the RB which I usually remember to do. Thumbs down on the RB for me.
Nothing beats a fresh, hot, crispy curly fry! But theirs have been more greasy lately, like they need to be in the fryer a minute or two longer for a crisper texture.
Here is where Anderson’s could be better staffed: a designated cleaning person on the floor at all times. I don’t like the self-​serve drink area, I think it is messy and not cleaned up often enough, and kids are constantly messing with it. Ditto the tables. And floors. And yes, the picnic tables and the floor outside need a hit with the cleaner. Any place with ice cream and kids will have constant spills and drips and need clean ups, hence, at least in the summer, designate one person as chief of spills/​clean up. Here’s an idea, lifted from the pet stores: first, visit one and search out the OOPS! poles around the store. They have a paper towel dispenser and a spray bottle for quick, sudden messes/​spills. Perhaps it would help to install one inside and one outside for folks to do the quick clean ups as needed, with something non-​toxic like Simple Green.
We shall continue to patronize Anderson’s now and then for the ice cream. Their ice cream is a five-​star rating!

Awesome roast beef sandwiches! I always get the kids meal because including the fries, soft drink and ice cream, it’s plenty! The outdoor seating area is well-​maintained and covered, so you can enjoy the summer even if it’s rainy or too sunny.

I just realized that although I’ve been eating at Anderson’s for DECADES I have NEVER reviewed it. Very, very strange. I’ve been here for lunch, for dinner, and for ice cream after my children’s sporting events and school concerts. It’s a family tradition for us.
The roast beef is quite flavorful… especially on a kimmelweck roll with horseradish. I get it well done and it’s still very juicy and tender… not an easy thing to do. The turkey sandwiches are wonderful (especially on a hard roll with mayo, lettuce, and tomatoes). And, the curly fries are WONDERFUL!
There are different special flavors of frozen custard each day (with the listing available on-​line). My ABSOLUTE FAVORITE is the cinnamon… super yum!!! But, when that’s not available, a sugar cone with chocolate-​vanilla twist is a not-​so-​distant second best.

Regular roast beef– plain, curly fries with a side of gravy, and a kiddie twist on a cone with rainbow sprinkles. I get a craving for this meal monthly. This is my FAVE combo at Anderson’s. DON’T FORGET TO GET THE GRAVY ON THE SIDE– good for dunking fries and your sandwich in.
My wish: better outdoor seating, and more beef on the sandwiches (okay, I will agree with this one…), but as far as I’m concerned this is as good as it gets!
It makes me sad to see negative reviews of my beloved Anderson’s on here. Who doesn’t love soft serve custard and beef-​on-​weck (on Costanzo’s Rolls no less!)!!!
