A truly wonderful surprise, we never would have guessed what a fine cuisine this place offered by driving by the first time. The place seemed quiet and closed but we are glad we opened the door to find that it was open Saturday night. My husband and I did not make reservations, but we were still served 3 courses in an hour. Scallop appetizer was perfectly seared dressed with pea aioli, the cod was tender and juicy as well as the strip steak which seemed to be cooked via sous vide. I don’t normally eat fries, but these were thin, crisp, and non-​greasy. The panna cotta with seared pear made a decadent palate cleanser and beautiful way to finish our evening.

Local fruit, vegetables and fish as good as any Zagat 5 star restaurant.

We went here for a special occasion. This is easily the best restaurant in Williamsport. We both loved our appetizers (escargot and stuffed dates) and the entrées were fantastic (pork chop and beef tips). Desserts were delicious (chocolate torte and peach cobbler). The staff were courteous and very attentive. We were both amazed that this place was not more crowded because it wasn’t as expensive as some of the other places in town. Given the quality of food this place would be twice the price and always crowded if it lived anywhere near a major city or town. We will go here again for sure.

Delicious food in a gorgeous restored Victorian. When the meal starts with a bread basket filled with delicious homemade bread you know you are in for a treat ! My husband had the ribeye — amazing and I had a shrimp dish — equally good. Dessert was crème brûlée — excellent! Service was wonderful — highly recommend

The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. We had a medium sized party for graduation dinner. We got a private room on the 2^nd floor. Very nice. No elevator so if you have elderly or handicapped people in your party, not a good choice. Beautifully restored home. Menu looked wonderful and good selection. Prices were more $$$$ range. Food was adequate, but not great. Have had better for much less. Expected to be wowed and wasn’t, but was still a nice experience.

If you are looking for the absolute best place to go for local and organic fare, the Peter Herdic House is it. Warmer weather begs for a seating on the patio. My favorite seasonal treat is the fresh oyster selection.
The building is an exquisitely restored Victorian Mansion. I guarantee you will not be disappointed!

This is hands down the best restaurant in the Williamsport Area, and that’s saying something considering all the new great establishments there are now. A beautifully restored Victorian home coupled with a family owned and run business and a slew of regulars make for a wonderful, charming and fun atmosphere.
All food is sourced locally, organically and seasonally. The food is consistently perfectly done. Specials are always to die for. Prices are reasonable for the quality. And yes you can show up in a pair of jeans, though my daughter and I love the excuse to dress up.
The décor at Christmas is beautiful and dining on the wisteria covered patio in summer is divine. The filet is one of the best I’ve had and I’ve eaten in some of the best known steakhouses. Starting with a perfect, fresh and local cut then seasoned and cooked to perfection. My daughter dies for the mashed potatoes as well!
I rarely end a meal here without a café Herdic, and they have many other after dinner drinks and homemade desserts to choose from, all divine. I recommend this place to any and everyone dining in this area.

Gorgeous, historic home turned restaurant. We went with a large group and enjoyed a three course meal. We had the green salad, the chicken in a champagne cream with mushrooms, grapes and toasted almonds and a side of asparagus, followed by a chocolate mousse cake and a chocolate ganache torte, then a chocolate martini. Everything was delicious!

If you are looking for a great fine dining restaurant in Williamsport you’ve found it in the Herdic House. The restaurant itself is gorgeous. The bar is the witness stand from the old court house and the décor all fits well with the Victorian building. The lounge offers a nice casual place to dine, while the dining room is great for more formal occasions. The staff was knowledgable and friendly, and the bartender was top notch. The price of the food seems reasonable for the quality received and you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu! Every Wednesday the blue plate special (only 10 dollars) offers a less expensive option that is equally delicious as the normal menu. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fantastic meal. The owners truly make you feel welcome.

We went to a wedding reception at the Peter Herdic House in mid-​December. It was incredibly beautiful and the food was delightful. I helped coordinate the day-​of-​wedding, so I had to check in with the staff many times. They were most accommodating and really made the experience memorable. We went to the bar in the House after the wedding and enjoyed some nice scotch.
We also stayed for the weekend at the mansion next door-​the Peter Herdic Inn. The mansion is warm and inviting. Each guest room is unique. The best part was the breakfast served at 9am – a treasure! Hot breakfast made over conversation with various employees or owners of the establishment.
I need to find a reason to come back to Williamsport to enjoy these two places again!

A romantic restaurant for a nice dinner.
The traditional menu matches the décor. Very traditional food. Traditional drinks they seem to do best — the martini’s at our table were great — the mojito’s not so great!
Save room for dessert — and then take a walk up the stairs to the widows watch — open to the public! Great view!

We were looking for a place to get a good cocktail and some yummy food. This place filled out half that request.
The location is amazing and we were lucky enough to get a brief tour.
The food was solid. Not fantastic but good. I was left lacking with the bartender. The actual bar is very nice. The selection is limited and the bartender’s drink repertoire is very limited.
Go for the setting, have a nibble and order water.

The Peter Herdic House is an inn and restaurant located in an historic Williamsport house. It’s where you go in Williamsport if you’re seeking intimate, fine dining. My husband took me to dinner here for my birthday and it was s-​o-​o-​o romantic. The food here was almost all locally-​sourced and the service was top-​notch. And yes, since it was a milestone and a half birthday for me, he said to order whatever I wanted. Oh, but I did too.
For appetizers, the French Onion soup looked mighty tempting, but I always get that when I eat out ‘cos it’s a favorite. We went for the Tomato and Corn Stack: tomaotes, roasted corn, basil and feta. As for my salad, I tried the roasted peach over baby greens. I’ve had roasted and grilled fruits only on rare occasions – somehow making them at home on the Foreman Grill just isn’t the same!
Oh and then for the main course. I had the small steak, a fliet mignon done just the way I like it – medium well. Again, the steaks were locally sourced and it really made a difference. That steak just melted in my mouth a I slowly savored every bite. I also liked how they had larger and smaller cuts available. Hey, I eat less than guys do and there’s no way I’m packing in a 12 – 16 ouncer. Besides, we didn’t have to schlep home leftovers so my meal was just right.
So kudos for my hubby for finding and taking me to such a wonderful place for my birthday.

My first dinner here in 40+ years of visiting Williamsport, and we certainly will be back! The fine old house is a treat in itself, and the food is well above average. My pickled salad was outstanding. Everyone loved their entrees, which ranged from filet mignon to halibut to ravioli to crab cakes (would have preferred baked to fried, but still good). Good service, drinks, and wines by the glass acceptable. Altogether, a wonderful experience.

My wife and I enjoyed a fantastic meal at Herdic House. We did the soup to nuts and accepted the bartender’s recommendation for a nice bottle of Pinot Noir from Oregon. I had a really well prepared NY strip steak and my wife enjoyed crab cakes. For dessert, we had a wonderful bread pudding with a caramelized pecan sauce. The service was excellent and the ambience quite nice.

Five stars for the décor. Sumptuous rooms, nice lighting, and, even on a busy Saturday evening with live jazz, enough of a sense of quiet and privacy.
Four to five stars for the food. Both meat and fish dishes were very well prepared and garnished. Desserts (crème brûlée, sorbet) were flavorful — well worth «saving some space.»
Two stars for the drink service. No list of wines by the glass, an ignorant waiter (who could be forgiven because he had not reached legal drinking age) with no apparent back-​up, and uninteresting default options. Surprising in a restaurant of this caliber. (You may fare better if you order a bottle.)
Aside from this one weakness, highly recommended for a relaxed or intimate evening with fine food in unique architecture. Well worth an after-​dinner walk to the second and third floors!

I’m no Paula Dean but this here is a fine central Pennsylvania establishment. Relative to the area, I reckon you’d be hard pressed to find a better place to take you and yourn for a fancy supper. They’ve got all the fixins at this place. A three story chandelier, an old fashioned bar, and a damned fine wine list for them highfalutin types. Overall, you shouldn’t pass up any opportunity that comes your way to eat at this here place.

Well, the actual rate in this case would be 3.5 stars and the reason why I rounded it to 3 (instead of 4) is explained below.
Occasion: family reunion to celebrate bunch of things happened in the last few weeks. Good mood and need of delicious food.
The restaurant looks from outside (and actually is) like a solid Victorian house. The ambience was classy and quiet.
Our appetizers: Shrimp Cocktail, Escargot and Corn/​Tomato stack. Unlike the entrees and desserts, which were almost in all cases delicious, these appetizers were just ridiculous. The escargot have been served in the traditional way, but eating them was like having pieces of garlic in your mouth. Neverthless they still could be considered tasty and almost enjoyable. Shrimp Cocktail: that was really unexpected: three untasty shrimps in a cocktail glass full of ice. That’s it. Pretentious and really overpriced. Same for the Corn/​Tomato stack. Easy: three slices of tomatoes stacking on top of each other with some corn… again superoverpriced and poor in terms of creativity.
Entrees: almost everybody had the filet mignon, which was very good. I asked for a medium-​rare cooking and I got something extremely tender, juicy and I really enjoyed it.
My crème brûlée was not tasty at all (maybe because in other places I could have something not only creamier but also flavoured with rosemary or lavande –again, sometimes creativity could help!). Neverthless, I must say that I also tasted the Raspberry Cassis and another dessert with the Chambaud that were remarkable.

Do you want top-​notch food in Williamsport? Great service and a nifty atmosphere? The Herdic House is the place to be. There’s a huge emphasis on the local and the organic and the cuisine trends towards the French. The Miele family definitely knows how to provide great hospitality and make you feel at home while offering delicious wholesome french fare. It’s too bad I don’t live in Williamsport, or I’d frequent the lounge. They’re also great for catering too.
