Specialties
The Peter Herdic House specializes in quality ingredients, sourced locally and lovingly prepared. Housed in an 1854 Italianate Victorian mansion, the restaurant has been owned and operated by the Miele family since it opened its doors in 1984.
History
Established in 1984.
Originally the private residence of one of Williamsport famous lumber baron Peter Herdic, the house was restored in 1984 and opened its doors as a restaurant in November of 1984. The Miele sisters, Marcia and Gloria, owned and operated the restaurant from 1984 until 2014, when they passed ownership to Marcia’s son Dante and Gloria’s daughter Liz. The two cousins are committed to following in their mothers’ footsteps, offering excellent food and welcoming hospitality in a beautifully restored historic home.
Meet the Business Owner
Liz M.
Business Owner
Liz, the daughter of Herdic House founder Gloria Miele, has worked at the restaurant off and on since she was 13 years old. She began (reluctantly) working full-time in the kitchen in 2005, intending to move on to greater things – and was surprised to discover she couldn’t imagine anything greater than expressing her creativity through food and drink, and welcoming friends old and new into a beautiful old restaurant. Now as co-owner and the Herdic’s executive chef, Liz is a fixture both in the front and back of the house, and happy to offer recommendations on the most exciting ingredients she’s found this week…
