This is a quirky little place with fabulous food, served on throw away containers with plastic utensils. The miso soup was perfect, delicious, piping hot with tofu and seaweed. The seaweed salad was fresh and tasty. I’m not a fan of spicy mayo so sushi options were a little limited, but what we had was excellent. The udon and ramen looked great

We wanted a quick spot to eat after walking around the campus of William and Mary, and happened across this place. The sushi here was good, especially for being a causal, quick service place. We ordered several rolls, the egg rolls and a salad with ginger carrot dressing. All was very good,(except for the egg rolls weren’t my favorite.)

I honestly don’t understand why the overall rating for Oishii is so low. From my experience, they’ve only been improving since they first opened! –The staff is as friendly as ever, and service is relatively quick. –They have actual ramen bowls for their ramen now, which makes me feel a lot better haha –Since the last time I had their ramen, they’ve improved the egg, pork, and saltiness of the soup! I would still put them at a solid 4 stars because of the sliiiiightly high pricing, but here’s my attempt at leaning the overall rating toward a more accurate one.

Not too sure what’s going on here except another mediocre overpriced place in the burg. Thought I’d try it. Had a ramen bowl my son had a hibachi dish. Minimal flavor. There are better takeout places with better prices. Give it a try for yourself and move on. Not sure why they give you styrofoam and plastic when you eat in.

This place was extremely underwhelming. I was excited for a new veggie-friendly dining option in Williamsburg, but was pretty disappointed when I finally got the chance to try. They don’t have a vegetarian ramen option, and their vegetable yakisoba consists of about three pieces of overcooked broccoli, a plateful of bland noodles, and sugar for about $ 8.50 after tax. Blegh. I gave them the benefit of the doubt and tried it a second time, but was even more disappointed than the first try. I haven’t tried the vegetable hibachi option yet, but I don’t think I’ll ever be going back.

The place is new and the restaurant felt like amateur hour. I came for the ramen specials and I realized it was not really a noodle place. It felt more like a gas station with a dining area to eat off their plastic bowls and plates. If the prices were a lot cheaper I could give them more stars. But the value is not ther and quality not what I expected from a noodle place. Salty broth and a very limited menu for the ramen.

I love Oishii, it’s a great place to grab some lunch. The sushi is of good quality and isn’t overpriced. The ramen is a must have. The broth is flavorful and the meat is perfect(if you’ve only had $ 1 instant ramen, you definitely need to try real ramen). It’s very pay for what you get though. It is cheap but for example the there is only one veggie with the hibachi unlike the typical medley and sides are a little skimpy. Overall, a great place to have lunch — good food for cheap.

Meh, at best. I had pork with pork broth and udon noodles. Meh, the broth was under seasoned. The pork was bland and dry. The noodles had good texture, but zero flavor. I really doubt I’ll be back. I also had an eel roll that tasted like it came from Food Lion, not terrible, just meh. I’ve certainly had worse food, but i expected more for a $ 16 bowl of noodles and sushi roll.

After living in Okinawa for 5 years I was needing a ramen place local… this place is great. My only gripe is that the egg should be more soft boiled in the ramen. Delicious and happy to not have to drive to Norfolk to get my fix!

Very tasty Ramen! I forgive them for the plastic bowl /spoon. I had Pork Ramen, the pork was the most delicious meat I’ve ever tasted! Com’n Williamsburg, support this small business! I’d give anything to have a little place like this near where I live. Can’t wait to come back!

I was highly anticipating this place. Really nice to have a ramen place nearby. Only when I went there for the first time, I didn’t have the ramen… I got the hibachi deluxe. It was incredible! Now I have a problem: the next time I go there I will want the same thing! Will I ever get to try their ramen? I know that the yakisoba is great because my partner had it. Really nice décor and I like the menu on the big screen above the counter. Inviting place to stop by after roaming around the Revolutionary City and the Merchants Square.

The Pros: The cashier, waiters, and even the chefs are very nice. The building is new, beautiful, and clean. The ramen is pretty solid(especially for Williamsburg), and they have some great appetizers. If you get ramen«to go», they will separate the broth for you so the noodles don’t get overcooked and soggy. I recommend going with the udon noodles– they are heartier and more authentic. The Cons: Service takes awhile, but they are new and are still getting their bearings. The tables are awkwardly placed, and the chairs are cold and metal. If you ask for a glass of water, they usher you to a water stand with thimble sized cups. Great, thanks. Also, the sushi is only OK, as the majority of the rolls are fried and come with a mayo sauce that is unappealing to me. That, however, is personal preference. They most definitely need a website with a menu. It’s 2015, after all.

So, since moving here from Boston and NYC, I’ve been desperately waiting for this place to open. The sign had been up for sometime and every time I’d pass it I’d stare at it… like when you uncomfortably stare at another person until they get creeped out, but you were actually just looking past them, thinking about something that had nothing to do with them, but then they glance at you like you WERE staring at them, which you weren’t, and give you the stank-eye… nevermind, I think I got off track. Anyway, I love ramen, been waiting for this joint to open and was SO jazzed when I got the menu in my mailbox. I was all like«Awww, heckz yeah!» When I went there, the Monday after they had opened, I ordered the Shoyu Ramen to go… Food: Pretty good. I longed for great, but it was good enough for me to go back. The vegetables and protein were good, the noodles weren’t the best I’ve had, but still really decent. Atmosphere: Very clean, modern. Nice feel to sit in there. The door gave me some trouble and I could tell from the others there that they had trouble as well. I’m sure this issue will be fixed though. Service: Great! The people there were pleasant. Had a great little convo with the girl who took my order. She was from NYC, so was I. It was nice to relate. Overall: A few kinks that need to be worked out, such as the door and the eat-in bowls/dishes/silverware, but I think, as long as there is a strong desire to keep improving, this place can be around for awhile in an area that this type of cuisine is much needed. NOW if I could only find a place around here with some bubble tea.

Great to have a new Japanese noodle house so close by. The food was good, they are definitely on to something Great. The only issue was the plastic spoons and not so nice cutlery and plastic bowls. That made it feel too fast food. Again the food is solid! definitely check it out. Just some small tweaks would really dial it in.

Upon arriving I saw two women having difficulty getting in both doors they have. A good tug will surely open the door. During the 45 mins I was there, several others had trouble with the doors, and left. That’s lost opportunities there in my opinion, which most likely will not be back. I ordered a tuna and avocado roll and a spring roll app. The food is decent. I wish they carried a bigger sushi selection. Service is pretty quick, I think I only waited 10 mins before my food arrived. The huge disappointment for me is that everything is serviced in plastic and styrofoam. That is a ton of trash to at the end of the day. I am not a fan of plastic and I was immediately let down when I saw them bring food out to tables. This place is worth checking out. Just remember to give the door a good tug.

It’s inexpensive and the portions are large. The layout is nice and open. The staff was friendly, and the seats were comfortable. The quality of the food is very meh. The protein didn’t seem to be that fresh, the noodles were OK and broth was almost savory. A step up from packaged ramen. If you like this place, keep exploring ramen joints. There are some nice places in Richmond.

Just walking in the you notice that the place has a very open atmosphere. Popular music playing, menus are flat screens above the counter where you order, and the kitchen has a big window allowing you to see in. It’s definitely designed with college kids in mind given the layout, tables, music, and feel of the restaurant. My table had a wicked wobble to it, which may have been an issue when eating hot soup, but I managed to get by. Little things like this show that the place is still very new and getting everything in place. Maybe the censored option on the music would be a good call. People might take issue with that… Staff is friendly. I came in for an early lunch and they explained the process of ordering(if you haven’t had good ramen before, it’s a bit more complex than the stuff that most of us lived off of in college). Got a bowl of pork broth and ramen with pork, and a Rainbow Roll to see how their sushi was as well. Big bowl arrived about five minutes later along with my sushi. Flavor is good, and everything is perfectly done. I was even impressed by the quick service as I showed up right at opening. My only major complaint is the chopsticks. They use the simple disposable ones that are present at just about every Asian restaurant in America. Ramen makes for a hearty and heavy bowl, and sturdier chopsticks would be a better call, reusable or just the better single use ones would be a good call. Other than that, things here are good. I will be back, and I will send friends to eat here, which is just about the biggest compliment that I can give a restaurant.
