a little pricey but nice harder to find things for junkfood like vegan canned tuna, vegan salmon, daiya’s cheesecake and boxed macaroni and cheese, the good table top vegan cheeses, vegan beef jerky, and the new followyourheart vegan eggs

Glad I got the chance to check out this cute vegan grocery store during my trip to New York last month. Haymaker’s Corner Store is owned by the same people that own Champs Diner and is in the location of the old Champs. While I was there, I got a cold brew coffee to sip on while I shopped. It was pretty cool how they had a vegan deli case with prepared food and they also had baked goods from Champs. I was looking for stuff that I couldn’t get from California and I found Yeah Dawgs(vegan hot dogs) in the freezer. I bought a pack of Yeah Dawgs to take home with me(stored them in my hotel freezer) and they were amazing! Loved that the ingredients were all natural too. We also chatted a bit with the woman behind the counter and she was nice and pleasant to talk to. When comparing this vegan store to other vegan stores I’ve been to, my only critique is for them to add clothing, accessories(such as purses) and jewelry. They also need to carry Miyoko’s Kitchen cheese, my favorite artisan vegan cheese. I’m happy that another vegan shop opened up because I heard there are only like 8 other vegan grocery stores in the country.

Love this vegan specialty store however am put off by the markup on items easily gotten elsewhere — they are expensive. Happily they feature Cheezehound vegan nut cheezes made in Upstate NY — not easily gotten downstate.

Came here today after I found out last night that Haymaker sells Yeah Dawgs! The shop is small and really cute. They have all the vegan basics — «cheese», chips, baking products — plus some other items that I’ve only been able to find online, like Phoney Baloney’s Coconut Bacon and Vegg. Contrary to other reviewers, the woman working today was very sweet and helpful and made me feel welcomed. I do wish the store had more items and prices were a bit more reasonable; however, I’ll definitely be back for Yeah Dawgs and all the items I can’t find anywhere else.

Staff is rude and not helpful. A few items were said to be put on hold in the freezer the day prior. Upon trying to pick them up the girl working the register was short and just kept saying yep i don’t know what to tell you. Never again.

This was my go-to spot for all things vegan. I support this grocery because they carry a ton of my friends brands such as Yeah Dawg Hot Dogs, Regal Vegan Faux Gras and Basilcotta, Anitas Creamline Yogurt, and Oddfellows Small Batch Ice Cream. All small business owners, all FRIENDS of mine with LOVELY personalities and great Customer Service from the SUPPLIERS. Haymakers grocery staff should have less than ONE star for making me and my friend feel like we were INCONVENIENCING them today. I went in for some specific grocery items for our vegan BBQ. My friends at Yeah Dawg assured me that Haymakers set aside some product for me to pick up. I showed the girl with glasses(wish I got her name) my texts between Yeah Dawg and I. Before she even bothered to LOOK for them she was like, «NO we do not have it.» The NORMAL thing to do would be to check first and call other people who might of been working and go above and beyond for a store that didn’t even have a single person there besides my friend and I. Then I asked her to check the freezer and she pulled out some unlabeled frost bitten pack of hot dogs and tried to say they were my friends brand. I even took pictures of this so you could see. At this point I was willing to just let it slide and buy the items I came in for. She rolled her eyes at me a couple times like I was just making this up. I kid you not. I asked nicely if they had another section maybe in the back of the stock and she kept giving me attitude and when I was in the front ready to check out my other goods she grunted and said«let me ask the other girl who was working here yesterday and give her a call» This was 15 mins after we were already looking everywhere! Why couldn’t she do this before?! Well the other person never answered the phone or called back and at this point I already made arrangements to pick up the hot dogs straight from Yeah Dawgs and not INCONVENIENCE Haymakers anymore. It’s sad because I support small business and I know this is a great concept for vegans and non vegans alike but you need to change your staff because I won’t be coming back. I rather buy straight from my friends or even sad to say it WHOLEFOODS is more worth it and also carry most of my friends goods.

I absolutely love this little store. I was very excited when it opened in place of the old Champs. I finally made it out there for Memorial Day picnic stock up. They have pre-made sammiches and salads and all kinds of vegan ice cream, chips, pates and sweets. The selection is heaven.

Huge disappointment and a waste of time. Store is not stocked, nor have much product. It’s empty in there. Cold, dimmed, empty and depressing vibe. There’s nothing there you can’t find elsewhere that sells vegan products and most groceries do nowadays. Made a special trip to check it out and was highly disappointed.

Being vegan, I was so excited to check out this grocery store, everything is vegan! I made the trek over after lunch at Smorgasburg. Upon arriving I was disappointed. A friend and I walked in together and were not greeted even though the store was extremely quiet and empty besides us. This lack of friendliness felt out of place and awkward in what seemed to be such a quaint and cute store. The amount of food was relatively sizeable but you would be much better off at Whole Foods or another local co op, what they carried was nothing special. They had a very tiny selection of produce in the center and a small case of prepared foods which looked pretty good. On our way out we had another interaction with a vegan milk company that was giving out samples. It felt strange that they only interacted with us on the way out, after we’d already decided not to purchase anything. Overall, I was disappointed with the selection of foods and the customer service here.

Variety of vegan products albeit limited selection compared to Viva La Vegan(Express) in Southern California. They do have baked goods from Champs(I think they have the same owners?) but as you’ll see if you read my Champs review they can be hit or miss(in this case the broccoli cheddar croissant and spicy chocolate muffin were misses).

In theory, this is a great place for vegans! Everything is a go! However, the place is very small and the selection is much more limited than I expected. Really, it was so small that it was probably the size of the vegan food section at a sizable Whole Foods. The customer service was very bad — we were the only ones in the store but neither of the two employees working even greeted us or asked us if we needed help, and the other interaction we had with others in the store was with two girls sampling NotMilk non-dairy milk, and they gave us a sample as we were leaving which obviously was not effective. All in all, it was a disappointment.

Really excited to have this open up! I’ve been in a few times and it looks like they are continuously adding new products. They have a bunch of basics like beans, grains, etc, which is nice but really, it’s all about the hard to find vegan items and brands for me. I’ve got my fingers crossed for sjaacks Eli’s earth candy bars, dillos and everything from premium chocolatiers. Whoever is making all the prep food is doing a fantastic job. Everything I’ve tried so far has been awesome. I particularly love the kale salad and chia puddings!

I found out yesterday that the vacated storefront where Champ’s Bakery had closed a couple of months ago was going to re-open as Haymaker’s [all-vegan] Corner Store. I ran over there this afternoon and stocked up on Cavi-art™(better than caviar) and Chao™(cheese slices that melt like hot damn.) They also carry, naturally, baked goods from Champ’s – including their awesome croissants – and many vegan products that up until now have been hit-or-miss to get: [the aforementioned] Cavi-art™ and Chao™, and the awesome Treeline Nut Cheese. They have, of course, an assortment of fresh produce including avocados, citrus, and local produce; of course there will be more seasonal, local fruits and vegetables as soon as it becomes spring – which can’t happen soon enough for me! They also have items like Rescue Chocolate(100% of proceeds go to animal rescue organizations.) There’s a VEGANDELICASE, so naturally they carry Monk’s Meats, and – I’m just so blissed-out I can’t stand it.(Vegan. Deli. When did you last put those two words together – or did you ever put those two words together?) When Champ’s closed, I had no idea it was going to come back as this! They don’t apparently have a phone yet, but they will soon. More on the way – I’m sure. Veganism is the future – I promise.
