Basic needs met for a low price. Some stains on bedding and carpet but otherwise it’s ok. Nothing fancy just a quick spot to lay our heads for the night.

Nothing fancy here. But walking distance to historical district, clean, great, helpful, happy, staff. Breakfast buffet was real nice, lots of options to eat. Great strong coffee!!! A plus to the crappy in room coffee maker. No complaints. Good for a family trip or if on a budget and want to be close to this beautiful historical town.

I had no problems with this place at all. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. The room was clean and nice, especially for the price. Breakfast is your typical but slightly more of a choose. I will definitely stay there again when I am in town and some friends were thinking of staying there with me next time.

We were delighted. This was one of our best motel experiences ever. The place is clean, the price is right, and the location is excellent. You can stay there without worry. As with any plans, the more you know about your target destination the better, because you shouldn’t depend on the desk clerk for clear, accurate information.

As a part of a deal through Busch Gardens, we booked this «hotel» which turned out to be a motel… It was advertised as a hotel and the pictures on their website were deceiving! Shame on me, because I failed to check Unilocal and TripAdvisor on the reviews.
The beds were hard, the walls were super thin (I could hear the tenant next door coughing profusely throughout the night), the vending machine dispensed warm water (!!!), and the whole complex itself is outdated.
However, the staff member who checked us in was friendly and it was in a good location — it only 10 minutes away from Busch Gardens, 15 minutes away from Water Country USA, and surrounded by Colonial Williamsburg.
For a 1 night stay, this place is acceptable, but I wouldn’t stay for more than that.

This hotel is absolutely horrible strictly based on the lack of customer service. We called on Friday to ask if we could check in early as we were driving up from Florida during the night. We spoke to a woman named Joyce who informed us that check in is at 4pm but she would place a note on our account to have our room clean and readied for us as soon as possible. We arrived at 11am on Saturday and checked to see if we could get in the room. We were told the rooms were not ready which we were fine with and left our number so they could contact us when it was finished. Two hours later, after we hadn’t heard from them, we checked again, and they said the room was still not ready. Now we are starting to get annoyed.
First, there is a note in the account that the Saturday front desk staff acknowledged was, in fact, in there. Second, even if the previous occupants checked out at 11 does it truly take two whole hours to clean the room? It does if you don’t advise your cleaning staff that that particular room needs to be cleaned. See how simple a solution that is? You get on your walkie talkie or if you are too ghetto an establishment to have even cheesy walkie talkies to communicate across your property you waddle yourself from behind the front desk and WALK your lazy behind to wherever the cleaning staff is and inform them that you have a squeaky wheel customer who was given information THE DAY BEFORE by another of your OWN STAFF and the room needs to be cleaned straight away. Did that happen? No. Why? Our guess is there is zero interest in proper customer service training as there is ZERO interest in providing the customer with any kind of decent service. Plus, it would take common sense and a functioning brain to think of such a simple solution.
So, again, we wait. Two hours AFTER THAT I go and speak to the front desk and they say that we have to wait for ALL of the rooms to be cleaned before they allow us to enter the room. Now, why would all of the rooms on the property need to be clean before they could begin check in for ONE customer? At this point, running on ZERO sleep, having a wedding we had to attend at 5:30pm we called the call center to see about a refund of the money we already paid for the room. After a ton of time spent on hold they advised us that there was nothing the call center could do, that it was up to the discretion of the front desk whether or not to refund our money in full but that they had spoken to the front desk. They also informed us that the front desk said they never told us we would have to wait for all rooms to be cleaned in effect calling us liars. I had ZERO faith that the front desk would give me anything but problems regarding a full refund because they had themselves been NOTHING BUT A PROBLEM.
It seems that our venturing to a different source (the call center) spurred them in to some kind of action so FOUR HOURS later they called to say the room was ready. I understand that the stated check in time is 4pm. However, if I had been informed by Joyce that there was no way possible for us to get into our room any earlier I would have figured out a different way to get some sleep while waiting for the room. Because I had been informed by Joyce that she was placing a note on the account and THEN because the front desk acknowledged the note I wasted FOUR HOURS waiting for them to all do what they said they were going to.
This hotel is horrible, the staff is awful and I have finally learned that you do get what you pay for. Their price is the lowest for a reason and it’s not a good one.

Staff was pleasant and room was clean. Had good water pressure and hot water, beds were comfy. Has new flat screen TVs, and the location is great. Major negative was how loud the neighbors were. Kids next door and walls are clearly thin. The first 15 channels on tv had tons of static. Hotel is older, which isn’t obvious on the website. It’s sufficient and a good deal.

I would give this place FIVE STARS if it weren’t for the people who stay here. Parents let their kids run up and down the hallways soaking wet from the pool and screaming to each other (Normally Id find that precious, but not when im on my one annual vacation and just want to relax). Every time we were in our room (e.g. 630am, 830am, 430pm, 830pm, etc.), the people in the room next to us were BLASTING their TV and screaming. And it sounded like they had 32 Spanish-​speaking guests in the room, too. And we weren’t allowed to say anything until 11pm cause that’s when the noise regulation starts. And at that point the front desk closes and you end up calling an offsite resort. Psh.
Plus, the couple that checked in in front of us had never heard of Colonial Williamsburg. WHAT.
This is basically the Busch Garden launch site. Nough said.
THAT said, it’s super cheap ($ 68/​night) and the front desk folks are OUTSTANDING (especially Regina). Wow. Housekeeping is unbelievable, too– Never has anyone folded my clothes and arranged my shoes and dob kit for me. Verrrrry impressive. The continental breakfast is the bomb.
IF IT WEREN’T FOR THE LOUSY (read: trashy and disrespectful) GUESTS, THIS PLACE WOULD ABSOLUTELY EARN A FIVE-​STAR RATING. BRAVO.

A bit nervous after reading some comments but we decided to stay and glad we did. It is a good, standard motel in a fantastic location with a comfortable room (even with 2 kids, ages 4 & 2), decent breakfast (free), a nice pool, fine Wifi, and all at a remarkable price ($ 57 a night — a special August rate). Understand that the motel is also near train tracks and trains could be audible from our room. But that did not affect our very pleasant stay. Moderate your expectations and you will be truly happy. We were and I highly recommend this wonderful motel.

We wanted an inexpensive place to crash after going on the Williamsburg ghost tour — we didn’t want to drive home that late at night. I could not have asked for a better choice. The location is stellar — it is very close to the Governor’s Palace. It is an easy, few block walk to Merchant’s Square — and The Cheese Shop! So you can easily leave your car at the hotel while you explore CW. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and roomy. The bathrooms were plain with a single sink and a simple curtained tub-​shower (does anyone ever really use a tub in these places?). It is a 2 story ‘motor hotel’ with a clean pool for the kids. One of the best parts is that it is owned by CW, so you get discounted entry into the park. That alone makes this the perfect motel option.

The hotel can use an upgrade, building needs upkeeping. Rooms are clean and roomy, price is fair for the type of room. Great location, all of Williamsburg attractions are within walking distance.

Horrible, we made reservations and confirmed the night before by calling again to ensure not only that they accepted small dogs (3 pound Yorkie) but also that we could check in early instead of 3pm. The lady told us no problem on both, after driving about 4.5 hours we get there and get told no dogs, she agreed that there was a note that we had a dog coming but still couldn’t allow it. Wth? So why take our reservations? You don’t want to be told that after 4.5 hours of driving or when u confirmed it the night before, thanks to woodlands hotel manager they made arrangements and took care of us.

If you’re looking for simple accommodations, this hotel definitely fits the bill. For $ 70 a night, it’s a bargain. My parents have been coming here for the last few years with no issues.
Pros:
–Free shuttle that runs to Busch Gardens and Water Country USA. It does only run once an hour but saves you $ 15 in parking.
–Clean rooms.
–Walking distance to Colonial Williamsburg.
–Walking distance to Amtrak train station.
Neutral:
–The continental breakfast is okay. Cereal, yogurt, bagels, etc. It does get crowded with families getting their money’s worth.
–The rooms are on the shabby out-​dated side. This is not a Westin.
–With your room, you get a free night program in Colonial Williamsburg which saves you about $ 12 AND discounted Colonial Williamsburg tickets. BUT a few years ago this was free so it’s no longer a pro for me.
If you want a no-​frills hotel, this place definitely works. We’ll stay here again.

now on the opposite side of the bad hotel hotel experience we had this weekend comes an awesome one from last weekend when we were on vacation in colonial williamsburg. super awesome and clean accomodations just a stonethrow or a brisk walk from downtown and colonial williamsburg. staff and service is beyond friendly and warm especially Anne and Amber at the concierges desk. we know ann from a previous stay and were happy to see her again. need a mini fridge in your room because you have a 6 pack of warm beer with you? they will supply it .free of charge. you dont even have to ask. its offered. they also offer a very nice continental breakfast serving bagels, donuts, warm/​cold cereals, juice, coffee .etc daily.
the rooms itself are pretty clean. i skeeve anything that looks gross or dirty in a hotel room and havent seen one thing in the two times weve been down there that made my skin crawl. well worth the price and as said its within a few blocks walking distance from colonial williamsburg. our horrendous experience at the westin in morristown nj today made me remember i hadnt Unilocaled the awesome one from last week. and what a difference a week makes in terms of quality and service of which the Govs Inn has in abundance! will definately be back when in williamsburg va.

Glad that I booked this hotel as final choice. The price is reasonable among others in the season.
The room is neat and cozy, with a pretty refreshing view of the grasslands. A small swimming pool not far from the rooms, filled with happy families in the afternoon.
People at the reception desk are really hospitable and friendly. They will kindly help you with all sorts of matters.
A nice little breakfast is offered for free.
Region shuttle bus right in front of the hotel.
Strongly recommend to tourists and big families here on vacation!

Booked this hotel last minute becaues of a great price and was slightly worried due to other reviews but I shouldn’t have been. The location was great and the front desk staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was standard but nice to have the option to grab. The room wasn’t fancy but it was very clean which is the important part. Would recommend to friends due the combination of price, hospitality and location.

Overall, it’s a fair choice if you’re on a tight budget or in for a single night. Otherwise, it’s slightly repulsive.

Well priced convenient location to college and village. Healthy breakfast choices weak coffee. Wi fi only in office. Why do hotels say they have wi-​fi if it only works in the common areas. these days wi fi should be available in the rooms too.
This place is basic, clean and friendly. Walking distance to the Historical sites as well as the college campus.

Stayed here the week of my kids April vacation; Made reservations at last minute and this was one of the few hotels still with availability. As another reviewer noted, there is nothing fancy at all about this hotel. It is the lowest/​cheapest of the Colonial Willamsburg properties. It was clean, simple, and reasonably priced. Great value for families (which were about the only people present).
Negatives: The check in at 4pm is monstrous. Long lines. They also overbooked (who does this?) and had guests waiting for rooms that were not available. Pretty irate people.
Train tracks right next door were oddly not an issue. Hotel is in very close walking distance to the attractions. I dont think I would stay there again but do believe it is a property families on a budget should consider.

We stayed here for a couple of days in early July 2010.
The hotel is basically a «no-​frills» hotel, for me that means outside catwalks and outside doors. The rooms are clean, and just the basic two-​beds, lavatory and bathroom area. The beds were cofortable, and the A/​C seemed to cool the room rather well.
The continental breakfast was more than adequate and had the usual fare. The single room next to the check-​in desk fills quickly, but they do have a overflow room upstairs.
The hotel is within walking distance of all the action. It is a short — two block walk to Colonial WIllaimsburg.
The price is a little high for just a room, but because it is an «official» hotel, you are able to get a «length-​of-​stay» pass to the events and buildings in Colonial Williamsburg., This can provide a substantial savings, too. The official status also means that the shuttle busses stop at the hotel.
The location is pretty quiet, however, there are railroad tracks next to the property and some rooms front that side. We did not hear ANY railroad or car traffic inside our room, and we faced the street.
All-​in-​all, we had a great experience!
