Elite Event at Jify’s

This place was great!!! The Unilocal Elite event did not disappoint and I am so late with this review but I went back so let me say… I love this place!!!
The staff is awesome full of knowledge about the food and drinks. The service was casual but really good. I tried the Pescaditos (fish), Jerk burger and polenta fries are the truth!!! It was soo good tome a the elite event that I took an order home and now I have to go back to get my fix:)lolol
This place is a gem a must try if you need a good Caribbean fix!

A lot of fun! Got to meet some Unilocalers in person that I never met in person, too! I didnt make it in time for drinks, but I could tell everyone had a nice fill of them. Very nice little spot, with a huge back room! I didnt expect that at all! Owner seems like a nice guy, too.

This elite event was perfect especially after a long day at work. Jify’s is such a beautiful and inviting place, I’m so happy that I got a chance to experience it.
I walked in, gave hugs and greeted all my fellow elites and some of their friends. I found my +1 at the other end of the bar and prepared myself for a great night. The Deep Eddy Vodka was being poured in almost endless stream, so I did what was right and grabbed a glass full. After getting a drink I got a chance to catch up with a few of my fellow elites that I haven’t seen in a while.
When the platters of food came around all the cameras came out. The food at Jify’s looked just as good as it tasted. The two dishes that I tried and loved more than any thing else were the fried fish and the fried polenta sticks.
The fried fish was so amazing. I’ve tried fried fish countless times but these fried fish strips were filled with so much flavor that they are now in my top 5, fried fish category. The fried polenta sticks were a very first for me. I felt like such a newbie for never having these before. The fried shell on the polenta was scrumptious and seasoned perfectly and the polenta inside was very delicious.
The food and drinks were delectable and refreshing but the true winner of the night was Jify himself. Jify made sure that everyone had a great time and enjoyed themselves throughout the entire event. The entire staff at Jify’s was incredibly nice and helpful and I thank each and every one of you for that.
Jify’s may look like a nice, small, comfortable spot to grab a drink and a bite to eat with or without a friend but, it is so much more… I decided to venture out beyond the restroom and into the back of Jify’s. To my surprise I found a huge venue space filled with people watching a comedy show. I got a chance to catch the end of the current set, which was a great way to end the night.
Thank you Peter D. for an amazing event, sorry for the late review. Thank you to the entire staff of Jify’s for giving us a taste of Curaçao and for the exceptional night.

Here is to Brooklyn events I came to cherish and love — small, intimate, with a soul and spark.
Rainy day turned into beautiful warm November evening, and walk to Jify’s was gorgeous. So as place itself — loved the hanging pub sign outside, the dark but quirky décor, and most of all, Jify’s hospitality.
Drinks were pretty well done — thank you, Deep Eddy Vodka and hard-​working über-​friendly bartenders! Good stuff!
Food was coming out non-​stop, I tip my head to owner for letting us hover over it to take pictures and to his most talented chef. Those battered fish strips with chipotle sauce were foodgasm-​worthy. Not remotely kidding!
I was also thrilled to meet all my Unilocal buddies, old and new, and meet face to face with YT regulars — man, you are all such an awesome bunch!
Even those who came fashionably late! Yes, you.
Just kidding, was nice to see and hug everyone.

This Unilocal event was an excellent way to jumpstart Thanksgiving week. Both cocktails were the perfect level of vodka – strong enough that you felt it but not so strong that you couldn’t have more than one. I tried both, one with muddled strawberries and one with grapefruit juice. Both were excellent and surprisingly not too sweet (I usually stay away from anything with fruit). The food was also quite tasty – I had fried plaintains (?) that we dipped in salsa, some excellent mango guac, and very spicy hot chicken wings which were incredible. But the real star (aside from some nice chats with Unilocal friends old and new) were the fried polenta things – I never knew how much I liked polenta until recently but it’s really starting to become a sleeper hit on menus. Anyway, these were incredible, served fresh and warm with some type of dipping sauce. The servers kept bringing out new dishes right and left, and the bartenders were speedy with their creations – all in all it was an awesome Unilocal event, topped off by a speech from Jify himself! A big thanks to Jify and of course to Peter D. for the invite!

The night you realize Vodka is strong!
Jify’s is such a cute spot! Of course I looked at the menu a dozen times before arriving, curious to what would be served. Who knew that one of the people serving us would be Jify himself? I was sure he wasn’t the proprietor because he looked too young! Jify hails from Curaçao, and puts his own twist on the food using his Caribbean roots.
I didn’t know it, but I’d actually been here before, to a show in the back and have also people watched at the front window. The ambiance was dark and sexy, with rows of highboy tables lined up against the wall. There is plenty of seating and there is also a music venue in the back.
My friend and I are sure we will be back, as the fried fish was so delicious, along with the super super strong cocktails. Who knew Vodka could hit you like that?

Cozy, dark, and welcoming, Jify’s won me over from the start.
Being the designated driver, I skipped the alcohol and focused on food. Some of the fried dishes were among the most delicious ones I’ve ever had at a Unilocal event: the fried polenta sticks sent me back to my youth years in Italy; the jerk wings with mango sauce were as fiercely hot as they were delicious; the pescaditos (beer-​battered fish strips with onions, cilantro, chipotle mayo) sent me to heaven.
Also, an amazing display of ridiculously goodlooking people.
A big shoutout to Jify himself: his relentless enthusiasm is matched only by the quality of the food he offered us. I certainly look forward to coming back here again, maybe for a comedy show at Cameo.

This was my first elite event and boy it was awesome. Jify’s has a nice cozy feel to it and at the event I felt so welcomed. I got to meet some of the people there and they were all so welcoming especially the owner when he was walking around. The featured drinks were delicious I liked both of them. The food bites were awesome, I live around the neighborhood and can’t wait to stop by again. Mango guacamole was delicious the mango gave it a nice pleasant taste. Something I really liked was the Pescadito which was just so light and flavorful. Overall a great event and I was glad I could make it. Thank you!!!

So glad my husband and I got to be a part of this event! Everything Jify’s offers is totally delicious! Nice, dimly lit, intimate spot.
My husband and I each grabbed a wing as soon as we walked in the door. They were jerk wings with a mango sauce. We both LOVED them.
The fried polenta sticks and fried fish were divine as was the mango guac. What a nice idea to add mango to guacamole! Can’t go wrong!
I stuck with a cocktail that had what appeared to be some muddled strawberry in it. I thought it was great. I think I had one too many…
They also have a live music venue in the back of the restaurant!

I really wanted to attend this place especially last nite However, I wasn’t sure if an Elite from a different Borough could attend an Event.
When I RSVP’d I was suppose to receive a confirmation of when a seat was supposed to open up for myself and my guest but I never got it.
Regardless of the mix up I will still attend this place for good laughs shout out to the Comedy Club in the back vibes of music and the delicious food that I keep hearing about. So as far as giving this place a rating of my own I can’t just yet until I experience this place however I’ll give this place 5 starts because of what I have heard about this place.

Jify’s is dark and cozy. Kind of like a mitten. The food that I sampled was delish. Unless I’m in the Caribbean, I don’t eat much Caribbean food so this was a fun event. I had no idea there even was a Carribean resto in Williamsburg.
Anyway on to the food, we sampled jumbo polenta fries (luckily I didn’t feel too chubbs this morning after eating 5 of them), chips with mango salsa (they called it guac but it was really more of a salsa), and fish sticks, which were so good I basically attacked the server to get more. In fact, I would go back just for the fish sticks alone. Normally when you think fish sticks you think of something kids eat. But these were not too bready and well-​spiced.
I was surprised to hear there’s also an event space in the back! So multi-​functional.

It’s so weird going to Williamsburg for a party… I barely leave my street!
We got there early, so we had our pick of seats and we had a blast. The food was great (we even ordered an actual plate once the event was over), Jify and his staff were super nice and the music was great. Big thanks to Deep Eddy for the drinks, which were all delicious. This place was dark but it looked nice and cozy. If I ever mistakenly find myself in Williamsburg, I’ll definitely stop by for a drink and a bite.
Oh how fun it is to be ELITE!

I cannot believe that I have the honor of being first to review this great venue and great event! Nestled within bustling Williamsburg and down the block from the über-​popular Sea is this hidden gem that I was glad to be invited to experience!
Jify’s is small and cozy which limited the number of invites, but I was lucky enough to be Kia’s +1. The cozy venue was nice and invited cozy conversation. First thanks must go to Jify and his staff, who served wonderful drinks and truly great food. The fish that was served was well seasoned and truly to die for — I will come back just to have some more of the fish.
The hidden surprise about Jify’s was not the excellent staff, the tasty drinks or the delicious food, but walking towards the back reveals a back space where a full fledged comedy show was going on!
Thanks again to Peter D. for another great venue and to Jify’s for hosting and inviting us, it was the perfect start to the Thanksgiving holiday and the approaching holiday season. I will definitely come back to Jify’s to experience their full menu, as it is a prefect date spot.

Like all Unilocal Elite events, it was great, well organized and fun. I’m usually at the start of these fun affairs, but work held me up. I didn’t arrive until about 7:30pm, so the event was very busy with everyone hanging out, drinking and enjoying themselves.
It was a little too packed to make it to the back, so I’m not sure what Jify’s actually looks like except the front bar, which was long and nice. It was super cozy at the front window — prime seats!
The two punch cocktails were tasty. I was amazed at how delicious the Ruby Red vodka was — definitely going to have to try this again. YUM!
I wish I had arrived sooner so I could have had a chance to try the food. Most plates never really made it to the front where my husband and I were hanging out. I did try a jerk chicken hot wing, which was SOOO good. OMG I could eat these all day, but be careful as they’re really spicy, but the good kinda spice!
The owner (I think), Jify, was really helpful and explained a little about where he’s from, Curaçao. It was a very interesting conversation and appreciated him taking the time to tell us about the history.
Overall, Jify’s is a cute place with an interesting menu. I would come check it out again and try some of their food. The wing was enough to sell me on that — hopefully they offer happy hour specials. My only concern is the drink prices. My husband doesn’t drink cocktails and ordered a beer at the cash bar. Their drinks were $ 2 off for happy hour, which runs to 8pm (so great to know!) but it was WAY too expensive at $ 6. That means drinks are normally $ 8 for a beer, even in the can or bottle.
So yeah — this was an excellent event, as always. The staff here was super nice, very helpful and knowledgeable. You can taste the passion and I can’t wait to try their other food.
And don’t forget the venue downstairs, which Jify mentioned. :)

I haven’t been to an elite event in quite some time, so Jify’s was a great «welcome back to Unilocal elite events» for me.
The best thing about these events is that you can learn about a new place that you may have passed by 1,000 times. That was the case for Jify’s for me. I’d probably been to every other place within a 2 block radius, so thanks for helping me to expand Peter D.
Cool event with tasty snacks and cocktails to try. My favorite would have to be the fish. I could go back like right now and every day after to have those lightly battered fish snacks.
The staff was kind and efficient AND I had an opportunity to meet a few new people while making my taste buds quite happy. Thanks for helping to make this short week even more enjoyable. I’m looking forward to returning.

Jify & his staff were really pleasant.
The few things I did get to try were delicious.
The chips with the mango guac, the tostones with the green chile sauce, & the jerk wings with mango sauce, all great.
That’s saying a lot because I hate mangoes.
Yes, I know a Caribbean person that hates mangoes, they exist.
My +1 raved about the pescaditos.
I can’t confirm because I don’t eat fish.

I didn’t venture towards the back, but there’s a comedy club in the back!
Seems so small on the outside, who knew all that could fit inside!
Needless to say, we’ll be coming back on a calm night where we can sit and eat full meals.
