I don’t really understand the bad reviews for this place. I love Smokey Bones. I love the feel and the interior of the place. Their menu has a wide variety, and their bones club is very rewarding. Their specials late at night are really good. They also do take out, which I’ve never done. I’ve always eatin in in-house. Everytime I go, I always have great service. The waitresses are nice and friendly. But I mainly go for the bones Club Rewards and the cheap deals late at late night. Then have a wide variety on their menu. I usually get something different every time. Their ribs, steak, burgers are really good. My favorite thing is a burger with some of their signature sauces. I build my own burger and they have a lot of different choices for sauces. They aren’t that pricey for the amount of food you get. They have great sides, and very creative ones as well. They’re all very good. I usually just stick to the fries. I highly recommend this place I love it

Was in town this past sunday to visit my buddy at the Geisinger Hospital in bear creek, so we stopped at the local mall on the way there and saw Smokey Bones across the way. I was surprised to see the amount of TVs in the restaurant and asked to be seated at a table near the bar area with a good view of the TVs. The manager was very funny and sweet and gladly put on the Eagles vs. Cowboys game. The service was the best I’ve ever had. Our server’s name was Zach and he seemed like a really great guy. Always made sure our drinks were full and we had everything we needed even though he had other tables across the restaurant. He took all of our jokes with a big smile and had a couple of his own. Which really made me feel at home. I got a create your own combo with the brisket and the ¼ chicken. I’ve never had brisket before and the sauce they put on it went great with the meat. Definitely a fatter cut of beef, but it’s packed with flavor. My son got the ribs and was covered in the sauce by the time he was finished. My wife got a pulled pork sandwich on a hoagie roll and loved it as well. I was so full I had to pass up dessert. Our server wrote down directions to the hospital for us and bagged up our boxes for us. And we were told goodbye and to have a nice day by at least 3 of the other girls working there on our way out. The place really makes you feel at home. We will definitely be coming back here if we are ever in the area

Friendly service and nice clean, modern interior. Had beer special going on when o last visited which was a great deal for a 22 oz tall beer. Got fried pickles, house salad, and a grilled salmon entrée. Food was very tasty with generous portions. Pickles were slightly salty but also slightly addicting. Service staff all professional and attractive ladies when I visited. All and all enjoyable even tho short visit, will return.

Came to Wilkes barre for a concert and after driving for a few hours we decided to grab a bite to eat. We seen a chipotle and decided on that. After pulling up they had a sign saying they weren’t opening for a couple more days. My boyfriend loves BBQ and after he seen Smokey Bones he was set on going there. I was up for it since I have never tried it and we don’t have them in MD. Our waitress I think Chasity was peppy and nice but I did notice the condition of the booth seats which were all cracked open. yuck…I got the pulled pork with onion rings and dirty rice. I was underwhelmed by it all. It had grease running through all the dishes. I found it hard to eat. Our server left our drinks empty for 20 mins and was nowhere to be found. Finally she showed up to check on us 20 mins after we got our food and asked if we wanted more to drink. I thought what a joke. We got the cheesecake bites for dessert and honestly they were the best thing about the meal. After this experience in glad we don’t have this chain in MD because I wouldn’t be returning anyways.

Wanted to get something different while in the Wilkes-Barre area and went with Smokey Bones. Had this before while traveling in Virginia and the food was decent. Smokey Bones is located on Mundy Street across from the Wyoming Valley Mall. Interior is modern wood grain with a large bar in the middle. Lots of seating including booths and high tops. Menu is mostly BBQ items, Burgers, and Wings. Went with the Create Your Own Combo, chose Texas Style Beef Brisket and Sliced Smoked Turkey Breast. The two sides I went with were Fresh Steamed Broccoli and Fire-Roasted Corn. First issue that occurred was my friend’s salad included both Onions and Tomatoes that he asked for them not to. They also didn’t have French or Italian dressings, had some odd flavors that included Peppercorn Ranch. My meal left allot to be desired. The sides were good, lots of Broccoli and the Corn had a good flavor. Turkey was a decent portion but was thinly sliced. The Texas Style Beef Brisket was completely different from what I expected. I was expecting a good slab of beef in gravy vs. the small portions of beef in a sweet sauce I received. It was fine but the portion was extremely small. Overall, while the food was not bad, I found it underwhelming for the $ 20 cost. Service was fine and our waitress was nice, but I’m not inclined to return.

Went to The Wilkes-Bare location for a drink and app about 9:30PM on Mar 19, 2015. We sat at the bar and ordered drinks and the loaded nacho app. Our first observation was watching a female thru the kitchen opening working on orders with a fur collared winter coat on. This person was out side and entered the building in front of us, now she is working with food without washing or taking her coat off. She came around the front of the kitchen and moved spoons around again without washing or gloves. We watched and realized she was making our app. The loaded nachos came out with cheddar cheese on a few chips, sour cream, and something that looked like salsa but came out in huge chunks and was in a lump in the middle of the plate. There was no queso, cheddar jack cheese, tomatoes, green onions or jalapeños on the plate. After watching it made and seeing how bad it was prepared we decided not to eat it. We asked the bartender who the person was we were watching and pointed to and was told the person was actually the manager for the night. I hope this is looked into as this does not make us want to return to your business.

Smokey Bones is usually hit or miss, but it’s the only place around here to get smoked BBQ so generally it’s worth the chance. Unfortunately my experience on Saturday was pretty bad. Our server was completely rude and incompetent. If you’re new, that’s fine. I’m also a server and being new at a restaurant is pretty intimidating. But if you make a mistake, don’t be A BITCH about it. We came in at 8:30 and the restaurant was mostly cleared out. We ordered a sprite, miller light, some non-alcoholic drink, a new Makers Mark mixer and two waters. When my younger sister ordered her drink, the server said«well i’m going to have to see you’re I. D» with an attitude. I told her the drink she ordered was non-alcoholic, and she explained that there’s another drink that sounds similar to it so that’s why she asked… which is fine. She came back ten minutes later without the two waters, without the bottle of ginger beer that came on the side of the makers drink, and only brought ONESTRAW. One straw for four people. We didn’t say anything about the waters, the straw, or my missing ginger beer. Just figured it was a mistake and not a big deal. When it came time to order, it was obvious she didn’t know the menu. i was informed that they were out of baked potatoes which comes as a part of my meal. It would have been nice if she offered a different side to substitute, like fries or mashed potatoes, but she expected me to order something else. Instead I asked if i could have that meal, but without the potato. My friend ordered the southwest mac and cheese and the server asked her what she wanted on it, when it is it’s own menu item. My other friend ordered a bacon cheeseburger and my younger sister just ordered doughnuts. When our meals came out, half of them were wrong. My friend ordered a regular cheeseburger and instead got a double cheeseburger, and i only got a salad. When i asked if i could have my pulled pork, she said«well you asked for only the salad». I wasn’t going to argue, i could understand the confusion. But i didn’t understand the attitude. She didn’t bring us refills, tried to take our plates away when we were still eating off them. Obviously did not want us to be there. When it came time to leave, she didn’t even say have a good night or bring us a bill. We just sat there and finally used the table computer to pay. This is one of the few times that I’ve ever wanted to tip 15% or less. I don’t care if you make mistakes, just don’t blame the customer and don’t be a bitch. Our tab was $ 66 and we left $ 9. I will not be returning for a while.

The best thing here is the late nite menu … important when EVERYTHING closes at 9pm. They were out of 3 choices in a row, but thankfully managed to still come up with good food… and lots of TVs for college sports viewing. This would be a great place to come with a group of friends for some penn state viewing. Solid hot wings Good stuff otherwise. Horrible at the table ordering/payment mechanism. I’d downgrade from here on that, but my server was super nice and helpful with the horrible contraption. Open till 2am or something horrible like that… poor girl.

First time eating here and didn’t know what to expect. I’ve heard people say it sucked and they’d never go back to guys saying it was great. so we decide to make our own decision tonight. First impression is that the place is very clean and the staff are very good. The server was very helpful and she suggested the smoked menu items. We decided on a buffalo chicken dip appetizer, full house rack of baby back ribs, and a pulled pork sandwich with a bowl of kickin crab soup. Just cokes to drink. The wait was short and the buffalo chicken dip was on our table in a few minutes. This was excellent! In fact, It was the best tasting part of the entire meal. The ribs were tasty but kind of tough. I guess smoked ribs are tougher than my favorite, rotisserie! The big disappointment was the tiny amount of pork on the pulled pork sandwich. It was mostly bread and the picture on the menu looked like it was overflowing with meat. The crab soup was real nasty, tasted like canned cat food or something. the sides and appetizer were the only thing worth the $$. Next time I think we will just order the buffalo chicken dip.

The smoked wings are hands down the best wings I have ever had at a restaurant. Forget any wing chain you have ever been to the best are here! We need one of these places in Sacramento CA. No competition and starved for a place like this!

i went here yesterday for the 3rd time in 2 years. the service has been good the last 2 times but i think i remember it being fairly slow the first time. it’s kinda hard to remember my first meal there 2 years ago, but i recall getting a pretty good margarita. i remember being underwhelmed by the turkey and babyback ribs. i THINK i got brisket and remember it being decent and i’m pretty sure my friends got the brisket nachos which were good too, but no for some reason they changed it to brisket only being available after 4pm(except for the brisket sandwich, which i will get to in a moment). the first time i got mashed potatoes and gravy and they were ok, and i also got the cornbread, which i think is on the menu as an appetizer, which is weird because a bbq place should just send out a slice of cornbread with each meal instead of the garlic toast this place serves. the 2nd time i went here i got the rib sampler, which is a 3rd rack of st. louis cut ribs and a 3rd of a rack of babybacks. the st. louis ones were better in my opinion. i don’t recall the sides i got but i did get an order of the smoked wings. they were good, smoked and then finished off in the fryer and drizzled with sauce. so after having these pretty decent 2 experiences i decided to go back here yesterday when i was in town. the food came out really quick but the portions seemed to be pretty small. as soon as the food came out i added a brisket sandwich to my order, which i kind of regret. my bbq plate was a third of a rack of saint louis ribs with a quarter chicken(dark meat) and sides of baked beans and mac and cheese. the mac and cheese was decent, i know a lot of people have different tastes when it comes to this dish but i thought it was good. nowhere near the mac at dinosaur bbq though. unfortunately it costs an extra $ 2 to get it as a side. the baked beans were pretty good. my friend thought they were too sweet but i liked em. the garlic toast that came with it was really generic, and they only toasted one side of it. now onto the meat. smoke flavor didn’t cut through that much. you could tell it was there though. the ribs were a little dry in my opinion and my friend thought his were too fatty. they were really weird cuts too, the biggest bones were only like 4 inches wide and the smallest went down to like 2 inches. the chicken tasted good but also it was a pretty small chicken they used. the brisket sandwich was done as a cheesesteak, which was a cool idea but none of the smoke flavor cut through, not even from the chipotle mayo they used on it. it was good but nothing amazing and not worth $ 10 for the sandwich and side of fries. the fries were garbage, totally dry and i didn’t even eat all of them, which if you know me is an odd occurance. i only ate half the sandwich and took the rest home. i don’t even remember the last time i took home leftovers. as for the sauces, there’s 4 of them and the bottles weren’t labeled, they just had different colored caps. the yellow capped one was a mustard bbq sauce and it tasted exactly like cattleman’s gold, which is a very good sauce. i liked the bbq sauce in the green cap as well. the other 2 sauces i didn’t really care for. next time i’m in town i’ll probably give Maer’s BBQ another shot

Pretty typical BBQ joint. It follows the same path as Mission BBQ in Baltimore, as well as Bethany Blues in Ocean City — if you’ve been to either one. If you’ve been to Famous Dave’s, it doesn’t compare in the chain realm. But it’s still pretty tasty!

Service was outstanding. Our waitress made sure our glasses were full and our questions were answered. Food arrived promptly and as-ordered. My chief complaint with Smokey Bones is the outrageous prices and the mediocre portions and quality. $ 14 for cheese-sauce and pasta? $ 12.99 for a pulled pork«platter» where the piece of garlic bread was larger than the portion of pulled pork? Come on. You can do WAY better. If it wasn’t for the chipotle BBQ sauce and the service, I’d never be back. Now, only if I’ve got a craving for that BBQ sauce. No wonder they don’t bottle and market the sauce… nobody would ever come to the restaurant.
