Truly a professionally run range and more. The instructors assisted my wife with a few techniques she hadn’t heard before and got here back on target. The staff are experts and very humble in helping from the moment you walk in the door. We enjoy this range and will continue to shoot here based on price, level of support, and personal experience we experienced while working with the awesome support staff!

If you are looking for a fun time alone or for a great date, you have to check out this range. I took the fiancé here for our anniversary, and he thought it was the coolest date we have ever been on. Ok enough mushy stuff. The range is very high tech, clean, and they have a great staff. From checking in on a tablet, to shooting, to checking out I was impressed. The guy working in the range room was so helpful. Totally helped me with my grip and gave me tips and suggestions. He was super friendly. They also have firearms classes and a nice selection of firearms, holsters, bags, etc. They offer yearly memberships that include all this different stuff. Which seems to be a great deal and I wish I would have purchased one before going. If you share a lane, the first person is $ 20, and the second is $ 15. You can bring your own gun and ammo. Ear protection is free. Eye protection is required so bring your own or purchase it for $ 2.50. They also have lots of target. We chose a basic one that was on sale for half off, only $.75. This was the cleanest, largest, and best firing range I have ever visited(granted I’ve been to one other one like forever ago, but still it’s pretty awesome). You have to check them out!

The Good: –Beautiful, clean showroom –Knowledgeable staff –State-of-the-art indoor ranges –Excellent firearm/supplies selection –Reasonable prices The Bad: –Strict limitations on range –Overzealous RSO on the day we shot(not all of them, just one guy) Bottom line, Thunderbird Firearms Academy is a worthwhile visit for anyone looking to target shoot, purchase or otherwise learn about firearms of any type. Thunderbird caters to everyone from new shooters to veteran gunners. The showroom is awesome, and well stocked with just about every type of firearm available to the consumer market. The ranges are brightly lit with good acoustics, thoroughly ventilated and safe; they really did a great job designing this shooting facility. That being said, I felt that the range rules were overly restrictive. No shooting over one round per second(too slow for real-world, situational practice), any rifle targets had to be all the way to the back of the range. In my opinion, the RSO was almost too involved during our visit(we were the only two people on the range during much of our visit, and we are both very experienced shooters). It really makes me nervous when I am shooting and somebody is constantly over my shoulder. I understand that they want to keep it safe and I applaud that, but I think it was a little over the top. Rules are rules, and I respect that. Ultimately, Thunderbird is the nicest, cleanest facility in the Wichita area, and is a worthwhile visit for anyone interested in exercising their 2nd Amendment rights. Happy and safe shooting!

These guys have a lot of great stuff in stock! A lot of high end good stuff, as well as entry level. Their prices are not bad either, which surprised me compared to other local gun stores. The people working here know their stuff really well and can give good advice depending on what you may be looking for. Also, you can get Magpul and PWS stuff here for the same price as stuff online which is basically the only place in Wichita that has that stuff at fair prices. Overall, this is a nice small, clean gun and gun accessory shop.
