The Spinach & mushroom enchiladas are good, the Vegetarian enchiladas at the Wine Dive are better. The Veggie tacos are good-big pieces of fresh zucchini and squash, they don’t skimp on the vegetables. I like the Black beans. Chips and salsa are great-chips are served warm, but the salsa leaves an aftertaste in your mouth. Spanish rice is okay-I’ve had more authentic. VEGETARIAN.

My wife and I like to come and relax. Like to sit on the patio. You would think we asked the hostess for special treatment the way they look at us. Hey your a restaurant and you serve people. Try it sometime.

I love fajitas. I basically always get the Monterey Ranch Chicken Fajita. Tons of delicious meat and vegetables served up on a sizzling platter just ready to be devoured. Toss on some guacamole and shredded cheese and it’s magical. Top that off with endless chips and salsa and a food coma is on the horizon. Sure, On the Border is a big chain restaurant, but one advantage of that is a reliable and consistent product. OTB has never let me down.

We keep trying to give this place a chance and they fail time after time. Tonight we tried to order fajita to go for 8(for a friend who just had surgery and her family). They said it would be an hour to make them. Seriously? Can you imagine waiting an hour for fajitas if you were eating IN the restaurant? Fine. Go to pick it up an hour later and the bill came in at over $ 200.00. The waitress was an absolute moron who couldn’t seem to figure out the math. The manager came out per our request and realized she had entered in a triple order.(Which made sense because we have made this order numerous times and it’s $ 60 a platter). No apologies from the manager and when we said we would pay for two of the orders as our friends could just have leftovers, they tried taking out the chips and toppings to make up the difference since they couldn’t separate out the fajita meat easily. The owner/operator needs to spend a little more time monitoring this location.

One of my favorite places to have Sunday Funday. The OTB House margarita is my favorite margarita in town. My friends and I regularly come here for lunch on Sunday’s and are never disappointed. Today I had the Baja meal which includes a deep fried avocado stuffed with chicken and cheese alongside a chicken enchilada. My boyfriend had his favorite, the Monterrey ranch fajitas, which he said were yummy and filling per usual. Today I also tried the sangria swirl for the first time. I’m not usually big on frozen drinks(brain freeze!) but it was very tart and refreshing. It’s a beautiful day outside so we sat on the patio. I appreciate that there are blinds that let the fresh air through but diminish the wind a bit. Our service was also wonderful, we were never in need of anything.

Its 76 degrees outside and beautiful. Wife felt like Mexican so we drive from Mulvane to try this place for the first time. We really wanted to eat outside in the nice weather but when we were greeted and asked to sit out side we were told it was closed and had to sit inside. I said if we cannot eat out side then we will go somewhere else where we could sit outside and enjoy this weather. They didn’t care so we left. Abuelo’s let us sit outside ;)

Waiting no problem, but asking for silverware 4x and not receiving until our food is cool is not cool. Typical chain Mexican food. Maybe Holiday blahs, but it wasn’t that crowded and food took longer than it should. Family outing was still good despite that.

Every time I come here it’s another weird experience with the wait staff. The food is good and that is the only reason I go back. There are some serious staffing issues that I would love to see addressed. I have been going since Jan of this year and up until last week it’s just weird and uncomfortable with the servers. Would order the food to go though.

Bad experience so far. Immediately noticed food crumbs in the seat and on the table. When they bough our glasses of water out, one glass has pink lipstick marks on it… disgusting. Not well kept and don’t expect good service.

Bad lunch experience! This is the first time it happened hear in 21st and Rock. I have been hear more than 6 – 7 times for last few years. They took more than 45 minutes to bring our lunch and we had to pack and leave to go back to work on time. The server took almost 30 minutes to bring the hot salsa. I asked as soon as we go there and had to remind 3 more times. I hope this is just one bad experience. Because I kind of like there food.

Decent service, mediocre food. Our regular queso tasted like the cheese had gone bad, and the replacement white queso was only a little better. My wife’s stuffed avacado(part of the Baja platter) was just ok, but not worth the price. My barbacoa enchilada had fairly good flavor, but could have used more filling. The rice didn’t have much flavor. We only got 1 basket of chips. Don’t plan on returning.

I have been before a long time ago and it was actually really good. It is also a pretty popular place to go for dinner. However, this time around I was not pleased. The dinning room was a mess. Our seats were dirty and sticky, they also had holes in the seats. The table was sticky as well. The server was either really busy or just not very good because she not only messed up the order but was extremely slow and didn’t seem to be that bright. The food tasted pretty good but not as good as I remember it. For the prices they charge they should have better service, food, and cleaner dinning rooms.

Kristen was an excellent bartender during this visit. I had 2 grande herradura reposados(substituted Cabo Wabo) with grand mariner. These two drinks made me a very happy man. The food came out properly cooked and very tasty as always. Carne asada plate is my go-to here. Can’t think of a more satisfying meal, and this location delivered with quality service, food, and libations. A solidly-run chain establishment.

If you’ve been to one On The Border, you’ve been to them all. At this location you’ll find food and service to meet your expectations. In the service department, your expectations may even be exceeded. The bar and restaurant both are popular places for large groups to gather after work, making for a fun environment around Happy Hour time.

I always eat at the West On the Border, but I was on the East side of town the other day and stopped in for lunch. It took FOREVER to get our food! When it came out, it was obvious my plate had been sitting under heat lamps for a while because my rice was dry and crunch. Gross. I always get the enchiladas suizas and they’re always amazing. This time, not so much. They were soggy and disappointing. I will stick to my West side OTB.

We eat here on a very regular basis — it tends to be our typical Friday after work hang out. margarita swirls(sangria) and good/hot, inexpensive, Mexican food. Couple of really great servers we always enjoy — Dane or Amber(ask for either of them and you can’t go wrong). We’ve shown up with as few as four and as many as 12 and always had a great time.

The only time I usually come to On the Border is when I am craving a Sizzling Fajita Salad. This comes to you and topped at your table-side with sizzling steak and grilled onions. Get it with the Chipotle-Honey Mustard Dressing and savor all the flavors of AmeriMexican! We went here for lunch and were taken care of by Mikey. Cool name guy! He was a fantastic server. Of course, I ordered my iced tea w/no lemon($ 2.19). We started off with the usual chips and salsa, but added a side of guacamole($ 4.59). I love their guacamole! I decided on my favorite craving of Sizzling Fajita Salad w/Steak($ 9.99). Yumm! Cool, crisp lettuce and tomatoes topped with hot sizzling steak strips and grilled onions. I drizzle that delicious honey mustard dressing on top and go. to. town. It’s almost too much for one person to really eat. I never get to finish it all and everyone knows salad does not taste good later on in the day. It was another successful dining experience for us. It’s all about the service. Even if the food is incorrect, it’s all about how they take care of it and you.

Fun place to come and get a few drinks and some top notch Americanized Mexican Food. The quality of the food has always been consistent for the years I have gone here. It may not be authentic Mexican, but I know what I am getting, verses going to an unknown Mexican restaurant. Have started a few lower calorie menu items. The Shrimp Pico taco’s are relatively healthy and full of flavor.

This is the worst so-called Mexican food I’ve ever had. Yuck. I’m actually shocked that people even eat here.

After trying out lots of independent and chain Mexican restaurants in the Wichita area over the past three years, On The Border wins my vote by far as the best choice. Clearly a sad showing for local independent Mexican restaurants, when not a single non-chain restaurant comes even close to the food and service level of a large national chain like OTB. I read gripes from independent restaurant owners that say such large chains have an unfair advantage, with the deep pockets they have, but I think that’s just a bunch of B.S. Clearly they are pushing their independent rivals out of business by doing a better job at all levels. I have been to this OTB location about twenty times and to the Westside location a few times also. I’m always impressed with how consistent that both the service and food is here. Others are impressed as well, which you can witness when you see the long waits on Friday and Saturday nights, which I now avoid at this point. I might like them, but not enough to wait a long long time. The service really is top flight, and especially considering the reasonable prices. They usually have at least three greeters at the front to keep things operating smoothly. If you do happen to wait, they have those pagers that let you know when your table is ready without yelling out names, so you can hang out and socialize without being stressed. When you sit down, chips and salsa usually arrive very quickly. The chips are huge and the salsa is tasty. It’s a good way to ruin your appetite. The wait staff seems to be especially friendly and usually efficient and on top of things. They do a great job of special orders(like getting a different sauce on the enchiladas), and they have black beans which I greatly prefer to refried. The margaritas are always tasty, potent and priced reasonable, especially when they have a «special» going on. Brinker International, who owns and operates the chain, does a great job at managing the consistency and quality at their locations nationwide, and I have always had good experiences at other On The Border restaurants in different cities across America. These are the same folks that also operate Chili’s, Macaroni Grill, and Maggiano’s, which are also well run restaurants, so clearly they are a quality outfit.
