This restaraunt has the best chicken chow mein in Wichita. The Mandarin Chicken is to die for. It is not cherry sauce mostly sweet and no sour chicken. It is the real thing. This restaurant has been around for 40 years that I know of and the food has never changed for the worse

This is one of my family and I’s favorite local restaurant. The food is traditional Chinese. Walking in you’re not going to be blown away by its décor. But the food is definitely worth mentioning. I always start out with the Crab Rangoon, which are savory and perfectly fried with sweet apricot sauce on the side. I always order the Pork Sub Gum Chow Mein, large amount of diced celery, bak choi, bamboo shoots with shreds of pork, fresh mushrooms and crispy chow mein noodles underneath. Lunch specials are a steal, entrees come with side of fried rice and an egg roll. During dinner time they serve homemade cinnamon rolls and for lunch they have wheat bread. Family owned. Service is always good, occasionally they get large parties and service is slow.

Great authentic mom and pop place! I grew up eating here as a child and I have always had a soft spot in my heart for their food! I think it’s been in business for like 30+ years with the same owners! Try their Mandarin chicken and homemade cinnamon rolls that come with dinner entrees! They are to die for!

Meal was great. It was delicious and the presentaion was well thoughtout. There wasnt a long wait between ordering when we ordered and when the food was brought out. The wait staff were also really pleasant and helpful.

I have been dining here for 29 years and it is my absolute favorite restaurant in the world. It’s my go to for when in upset, depressed, angry or stressed. It’s as good today as it was 29 years ago. The fried rice, egg rolls, fried shrimp and wonton soup are amazing! And the service is excellent. Cindy had served me this wonderful food for 29 years and I don’t know what I would do without her!

I go there often, and have been for nearly twenty years. It’s hard to pick something to eat because almost all of it is pretty damn good.

Imagine if hospitals served chinese food. This is it! Sandwich bread for an appetizer in a Chinese restaurant? Weird. Other weird things not normally in Chinese restaurants include but are not limited to; bacon, turkey & dressing, chicken livers, salad dressing in packets, no ginger dressing. The«orange chicken» and sweet & sour chicken are the exact same thing. Only good thing I had was the spicy mustard. Here’s a tip, go to Ming’s 2 minutes down the street.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for well over 25 years… love, love, love the mandarin chicken(sweet and sour chicken) and fried rice. Yum!!! Staff can sometimes be a bit slow and the lady who runs the place can be brisk to the point of rude but I would suffer much, much, much worse for a taste of their mandarin chicken… really…seriously…it’s just that good. The only downside is that they replaced the dinner and cinnamon rolls they used to serve with sliced bread; not a good move in my opinion but that alone won’t stop me from eating here.

We are recent converts to Hong Kong, I decided to try them out after reading consistently good things about them on Unilocal and another site. I won’t mention the other site because they will remove negative reviews if an owner complains ; – ) Every single thing we have ordered has been fresh and delicious. I have yet to try anything that I don’t like. Even if it’s something I have never tried before, I know it is going to be top notch quality. And we are always treated well when we order. I always take food to-go. This is definitely a place I could take someone who is picky about their Chinese food. I’m very hard to please when it comes to dining out, I’m a good cook and very hard to satisfy when it comes to eating out and about. This food though, I couldn’t hope to come close to making anything this good at home! Big thumbs up and we’ll keep coming back.

Great Chinese food. If it’s your first time coming here, I’d suggest the mandarin chicken(sweet and sour chicken) and the spicy ham fried rice. I use to work here and know the owners and cooks very well. Actual Chinese food made by Chinese people. I don’t see that too often around town.

It wasn’t bad, and it wasn’t great. The Lemon Chicken had a decent flavor, a little warmer would have made it great. The egg rolls — um, no don’t get those. I don’t have anything else to say about the visit or the food, which is rare for me to have a loss of words for food. Then again, I don’t know what else to say about a place who had fried rice in the shape of an ice cream scoop — as soon as it came out, I heard Gordan Ramsey yelling WTH?

Horrible. We went as a group and all ordered several different dishes in hoping to just do it in an asian family style and eat. Once we got our plates we started right in as we were all hungry. The dishes we ordered were: Chicken Lo Mein Boneless Chicken Orange Chicken Beef Peppersteak Fried Dumpling Short ribs It did take a little bit for the food to come out BUT we were okay with this as our group was fairly large. It was to be expected and the waitress and staff were friendly. We got our drinks and bread(which is just regular white sandwich sliced bread) and waited for our food. The serving of the food was nice and in fairly good portions(Dishes were around 7 – 10 bucks). We all dug right in and started to eat and that was when we found out that every dish minus 1 main dish tasted all the same. The Lo Mein, boneless chicken, and pepper steak had the same sauce flavoring. The sauce wasn’t that good to begin with and all 3 of those plates were smothered in it. The lo mein dish didn’t even have much lo mein in the dish; it was nearly ½ bean sprouts almost like it was substituted for the noodles. But those 3 dishes tasted nearly identical to each other minus the only real difference was the texture of the ingredients used in the dish. The only real high light was the orange chicken which had good flavor and was kind of crunchy from the fried skin of the chicken pieces. Paying for the food at the register in front was kind of slow and often long while we waited to pay for our own food. I would highly suggest going elsewhere for food if hungry for Chinese.

I ordered Cantonese chow mein for take out and it was awesome! The portion is HUGE, weights about 2 lb for $ 12 including tax. The taste is authentic, very home-made taste from what I had growing up in HK, I didn’t notice any MSG in it at all. The owner is friendly, great service, originally from Hong Kong, been in business for over 30 yrs! I hope this place and live on after owner retires. I’ll definitely come back for more if I am in the area. ^_^

My Dad has been bringing us here since we were very young. I’m not on the south side of Wichita very often, especially now that I live in California– but I consider it a «must do» when I come back to visit. The lunch special #3 Chicken Chow-Mein is the best of the best. I have often considered having them make it and freeze it and see if it could be shipped in a refrigerated truck 1,500 miles to me. Hong Kong holds a special place in my heart– a great place to go with the fam, friendly service, fair prices, and the wait time is minimal. So stop reading this, and go have yourself some Hong Kong, man!

Great Food Great Service Average-Okay environment I went to high school with a member of the family that owns Hong Kong. They have been open for years and years. I didn’t like Chinese food when I was younger partly because my family didn’t expose me to culture foods. Needless to say, I haven’t appreciated Hong Kong until a recent visit to this establishment. My friends always talked about how there weren’t that many good Asian restaurants in Wichita 12+ years ago, with the exception of this one. Times have changed in Wichita’s Asian eating market, but one thing remains, Hong Kong has great food at a normal price point. I tried a curry dish in my most recent visit, but I am still not a fan of curry unless its super spicy and I didn’t specify for it to be spicy. Therefore, it was a typical tasting curry dish for me. We should probably discuss my usual Mandarin Chicken. I think of sesame chicken when I crave Chinese food. The Mandarin Chicken was the first choice in my visit here as it looked like the closest thing to what what my taste buds desire. Wow, was I in for a surprise. It was very tender chicken, rolled in a Mandarin orange colored batter, deep fried to a perfect crisp, cut like a sushi roll and piled on top of the sauce used for sesame chicken. Now, for those of you who do not like sweet sauces, I must say that this dish is not smothered, you have the option of putting the sauce on thick or light because of the way the dish is designed. It is amazing. My friend doesn’t usually like sweet dishes, but in our next visit he ordered the Mandarin Chicken and was so enthralled by its wonderful taste that he always orders this dish now. This place doesn’t look like much from the outside and displays both Chinese and American dishes on its signage. It has an outdated interior but it looks brand new. This place is very clean and the wait staff is very prompt and courteous. Located on south Seneca, I will have to say that it’s a diamond in the rough.
