First off, I would like to state that the work done here is amazing and I have been stuck with a very important job for some time because I don’t trust to go to anyone else for the work. But there are two major things that will keep me from ever returning to this business.
1 — It is so difficult for anyone with a job or a schedule to ever go to this business when it is open. He is never there. He will return calls but they are a private number and you don’t always know it’s them to answer. I’ve never had such a hard time trying to bring business to someone before in my life.
When I have been successful in getting to the store to meet him, it has taken a week or more of phone tag and planning just for 20 minutes in the shop.
2 — I commissioned him to create a custom wedding band for my now-​husband several years ago. He gave me an initial quote. I got some money together and came to him with the 50% down to start the work. It was at that time that he added an additional 500 to the price. The price went up 50% from the original quote. I went ahead with it because I wanted something nice. So we agreed and I left. Time goes by. I left another payment on the ring somewhere in all this. I finally call him to find out the status of the ring and it’s been some time with no word from him. He raises the price again on me another $ 400. Something about metal prices? I couldn’t afford the ring at that point.
I dumped $ 900 on a ring that I never saw. I never got this ring from him and I never got my money back. I wound up going to Robbins Bros later and purchasing a nice indestructible version of the ring I commissioned for a few hundred. They didn’t raise the price on me once.

Alberto is not a jeweler. He is a craftsman! Seriously, the ONLY person I trust to handle anything that my family needs. Extremely honest, fast, knowledgeable and such a great guy. Designed an anniversary ring for my husband. It came out a thousand times better than I even imagined.

I inherited my father’s 1957 Rolex after his passing. It was in need of repair, but I put it off for 5 years because I couldn’t stand the idea of not having the watch with me every day. It reminds me of my father and it was important to him, so the thought of losing it nearly sends me into cardiac arrest. Finally, I managed to shatter the crystal face so repair was no longer just an option… it was a necessity.
Truly, everything happens for a reason.
Unanimously glowing online reviews led me to Alberto at Whittier Jewelry Mart. He is truly an exceptional human and a great watch repair person and jewelry designer. Made me feel at ease the second I walked in the door. His shop is beyond secure (double locking alarm doors and cameras) and his manner is very reassuring. He keeps a little handwritten ledger of all the watches he’s repaired, with before and after photos, because he takes great pride in his work. We spent a lot of time talking about Rolex history, maintenance, watch appraisals, and what brought me to his counter that day. He adjusted the clasp right in front of my eyes. I thought it needed replacing — boy, was I wrong. The ease with which Alberto worked was impressive. Based on that, I signed up for the whole watch interior cleaning/​bracelet polish, plus crystal replacement.
I felt totally secure leaving my father’s old watch in his hands. A few weeks later I went back to pick it up and all of my expectations were met… actually, exceeded.
The work Alberto does is pristine and guaranteed for a year. The price is not cheap but it is fair, and much more reasonable than most other repair shops or — god forbid — going direct to Rolex. [Side note: he can repair watches that are so old, even Rolex itself will decline to service them… he showed me a picture of one he’d just done, from 1944!] The customer service and attention to detail adds to the overall value.
Keep in mind that Alberto is actually a jewelry designer/​maker by trade. His shop is not a retail store with consistent hours. I think he advertises 10 — 6, weekdays, but he is not necessarily open full time during those hours. I’d recommend calling him first to be sure he is open. The first time I went by, I did not call in advance and he was closed (out of town, I discovered when I called). The second time I verified he would be open, then arrived and he was out on a brief errand, the store fully locked up. He returned shortly and was very courteous. I only mention this so others will be aware.
I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough.

I came here to get the batteries on my watches replaced. Alberto was very friendly and fast! He replaced all three batteries in a few minutes, and it only cost $ 5 per battery. I will definitely come back when it’s time to replace my other watch batteries.
They also make custom jewelry, which I will keep in mind if I ever want something specific. It’s located across the street from East Whittier Middle School. You can park on the street, but there is also a huge private lot located directly behind the store. The entrance to the lot is through an alley on Gunn Ave.
Just make sure to call ahead to check if they’re open. I think they’ve changed their hours from the ones posted on Unilocal

I came to have my watch batteries replaced and Alberto, the owner, completed the job on the spot during my first visit. In addition, he provided terrific customer service and a great price!
I really cannot say enough good things about this place! I will always refer any clients to his shop. He is so friendly and makes his clients feel very special, which is so important in any line of business. Its always about the customer’s satisfaction!

This place is amazing, arrived 15 minutes b4 closing to get my wife’s watch battery replaced. He does it on the spot & charges me $ 5. Are U kidding me? I paid $ 30 the at the last place I went to. How does he stay in business?
Anyway I left my ring there to have some work done & I’ll let U know how good of a job he did.

I went in to have the battery replaced on 2 of my watches. Alberto replaced them both in 5 minutes and was very pleasant. He did not charge very much and is a total professional. I am going to have him make a new ring out of some old ones I have lying around when I have the money. He makes beautiful jewelry. Definitely a keeper!

I needed my wife’s engagement ring repaired for Valentine’s Day, so I found this place with a google search. I went in the next day to talk to Alberto (the owner) about fixing it. In that first visit I was completely sold and knew this is a guy who is truly exceptional in his field. I left the ring with him so he could re-​tip some of the prongs, as well as clean it. Upon coming back the next day to pick it up (only took one day… another bonus), my draw just about dropped when I first saw the ring. I’ve had my wife’s ring cleaned before, we used to have a great jeweler before we moved to Whittier, but the quality of the work by Alberto was by far the best I have ever seen.
Not only does he do great work, but his prices are fair, he is a really friendly guy who makes you feel comfortable, and he has the ability to make/​fix just about whatever you bring to him.

I needed a battery changed on a so called expensive and difficult wristwatch. I called he quoted me a very low and reasonable price. I showed up he buzzed me in and took care of it immediately. Great service.
