The service was excellent and the coffee was flowing. The food was nothing special but over all good. Gets real busy in the morning so come early!

Second time here and I’ll be coming back more. The food was excellent. Pancakes are light and fluffy, and the eggs are surprisingly creamy. Chicken fried steak was cooked to perfection and the gravy was exquisite. Friendly staff and very clean dining area as well as the restroom. The only downside is the wait, but hey food made with love takes time and trust me it’s worth the wait. Pricing is a little steep, but like I mentioned before worth it. They also have chess/checkers table while you wait and books for children to read, not to mention the free complementary ice cold lemon water. Definitely one of my new favorite breakfast diners to eat.

Can’t say enough good things about this place, the people and of course the food. Outstanding customer service! Always attentive but not overbearing where we can’t eat or enjoy our company. They explain well what everything on the menu is if you don’t understand. The food is beyond exceptional! You can infuse pretty much anything with bacon!!! Heaven! Strongly recommend this place too for its overall hygiene.

So many varieties of pancakes you have to come back 20 times just to try them all. I had the cottage cheese pancakes and they were pretty darn good. The bacon was as thick as a slice of ham very very good place for breakfast…

Always a great variety of breakfast here. Got the German apple pancake. Make sure you have an empty stomach if you do get this. This visit, we had to wait unusually long for part of our order. The server came by and apologized, letting us know there was a problem with out order. Then the manager came by and told us the same. Not too long after, the rest of our order arrived. It was nice of them to keep us in the loop as to what was going on with our food. And they even took it off the bill as an apology. We didn’t ask for it, but it was welcomed! I have been coming to this restaurant for years(usually in anaheim) and will definitely come back!

I have a new favorite breakfast place and The Original Pancake House is its name. This place deserves 5 stars for its all around excellence. Service: – our server was fast, friendly, and knowledgeable; she explained some of the items, the ability to upgrade, and even gave us a recommendation or two. Wait for a table: – thanks to the NoWait app this place should get a 6th star; if you don’t have it, download it because you can ‘wait in line’ while you drive there; if you do this, your actual wait, upon arrival, is minimal. Food: – let’s keep it 100, this place is all about the food! I ordered bacon & eggs with a bacon waffle(can you tell I love me some bacon?); the eggs were good but the bacon(in and out of the waffle) was stellar; you’re not going to get two shriveled up pieces of pork product, but 4 thick-cut pieces of bacon — yes, FOUR!; I’ve been to other places that promise ‘bacon pancakes’ or ‘bacon waffles’ but this place delivered! Such tasty bacon in such tasty bits throughout my waffle… my mouth is drooling just thinking about it. Perfect bacon. Perfect waffle. Perfect syrup. Perfect breakfast.

When I heard that Original Pancake House was located in Whittier, I was expecting it to be on the east side of LA. What I wasn’t expecting was for it to practically border Orange County. The drive, along with the 20 minute wait once we got there(Friday at 10:30), left me with a sinking feeling that this place may not being worth the combined time of a one hour wait. We were pressed for time because we had to be somewhere by noon. During the interim, we perused the menu. I had my first choice and my contingency picks in mind. As soon as the server came by, she chatted us up about the Kings/Ducks game from the night before. We were instantly in love with her. The boyfriend gave her our extra puck keychain from the giveaway, in addition to her tip(we take care of our people) My first choice was Dutch baby, but because it is baked in the oven, it would have set me back a half hour. Same for the German pancake. I ended up with the cottage cheese pancakes. I happen to love cottage cheese and had never seen it in pancake form. Maybe I should have prefaced this review by saying that I am not a pancake person. I’m a savory eggs benedict person. I love me some seasonal pumpkin pancakes, but I order a small stack on the side in addition to an egg dish. The server recognized our urgency and our meal is delivered with lightning speed. The pancakes are fluffy, but with a lovely crisp textured exterior. It’s warm and almost tangy in flavor, which I am a fan of. I didn’t detect the subtle cottage cheese. To me, it seemed like a regular buttermilk pancake flavor. Again, I’m no pancake connoisseur so I could be wrong. The boyfriend ordered a cheese omelet because it came with 3 small pancakes. I criticized his decision, but ended up with half of it on my plate. Wow, how are the eggs so fluffy! I hate when I’m wrong. I stacked pieces of pancake and that 3 cheese omelet together for a savory bite. It was heavenly. However, I found myself growing increasingly jealous of the Dutch babies that passed our table. I get serious FOMO over food. Luckily, the boyfriend was just as impressed as I was about the breakfast and assured me that we would be back for the signature baked pancakes. Coffee was piping hot and served up in fun mugs shaped like cauldrons. For sure this restaurant is geared toward lazy and relaxing breakfast time. Do not come here if you’re in a rush, you will regret not taking your time here.

We were so disappointed. The wait was more than 30 mins. We ordered Blueberry pancake and egg with bacons. Pancakes were gooey(in a bad way; as if it was uncook. It doesn’t have much taste to it. I felt like I was chewing on pancake batter. Bacon was thick cut and chewy as well. They’re not crispy. The service was not great neither. The service was incredibly slow.

I think this is my new pancake place. First time here. My friend brought me here for brunch. I got pancakes, eggs, bacon, toast and coffee. The food was amazing and they give you so much. The prices are great. Everything tastes so fresh. I was shocked at the amount of bacon. They don’t give you two little microwave pieces of bacon, but several slices of real, home cooked, thick bacon. I highly recommend this place. And I will be back again. They have there own parking lot. Free coffee refills.

Got here around 1pm on a Saturday. My girlfriend and I were seated almost immediately, but waited about 20 minutes for our food after we ordered. We got the Swedish pancakes and blueberry waffle. The pancakes were only lukewarm, even after all the wait. The service is mediocre here. I had a very good experience at an Original Pancake House on San Diego, but I don’t know if I would recommend this location. On a positive note, the whipped cream is good on everything. Ask for it!

Horrible Service. Waited 45 minutes to be seated to only be made to wait another 40 minutes for food, that we finally cancelled. Seemed like staff was having ticket issues. Spend two hours waiting for nothing. Never again. After posting my review. I was offered a free breakfast as a remedial solution. Thanks to the owner. However, I opted to pass. Management needs training on customer service. I don’t think giving customers the option to take their food to go was the best solution, or as she put it, «it’s up to you.» Added a second star for the free breakfast offer. California Grill Restaurant in Whittier, won our hearts and made up for the experience. We had a wonderful breakfast with bottomless mimosas at 2pm we were in and out in 45 minutes tops. California Grill has three new loyal customers.

I got there with a large party around noon and the wait was about an hour or so. There isnt much to do around there or places to check out so you literally derp. It closed at 2 so we had about an hour to eat but no rush. Everyone there is super friendly and the food was good to match. I got a full stack of blueberry pancakes and shared it obvs but it was really good. I tried some of the strawberry waffle but skip that because it wasnt even crispy. So disappoint… I got some scrambled eggs and hash on the side. Now the eggs were good but something about the hash didnt taste right… like soap tasting. derp

This was the Sunday brunch spot chosen for our girls end-of-year meet-up. I’m always happy to see the girls and we can catch up anywhere, but it only makes it that much better when you can do so over food that rocks. Using the NoWait app, my girlfriend(from the comfort of her home) placed us in line at 9:20 am. We were given a 45 min — 1 hr wait time. This was awesome because we all arrived at 10 am and were shown to our table basically a few minutes upon arrival. My favorite of the meal was the 49’ers pancakes — crisp on outside and soft and gooey on the inside. I have never had anything like it before. Since it’s very thin, you don’t get sick of it. Our server, who was extremely friendly and personable, told us that others wrap it around sausage and bacon. The Dutch Baby is very popular so we ordered one to share. The cool thing about it is that you essentially create your own glaze using butter, lemon and powdered sugar. Taste-wise, it was okay. But I’m not a huge pancake person to begin with though. Their hashbrowns were really cool! They are very thick — crispy on outside and soft inside. The omelette was also really good. I was intrigued by the fact that there is no butter, oil, or milk in it! It’s baked in the oven and tastes great! I would definitely recommend this as a great place for a group or family gathering. Split among 5 girls, we were of course stuffed and the price was reasonable. The service is friendly and attentive. There are a lot of items on the menu to try that you don’t get at the typical American breakfast chains and the ambiance is homey and relaxed. Though it was packed and crowded, we were still able to all hear each other and get caught up on each others’ lives, which is the main purpose for our meal.

I was thrilled to hear the Original Pancake House was coming to Whittier, just a few miles from our home. After a few months of re-modeling the former restaurant«Seafare Inn» that occupied this building for 53 years, they finally opened their doors. It’s all breakfast here all the time(7am-2pm daily). It’s super busy on the weekends, but service is quick and friendly so the wait wasn’t so bad. Once we were seated, our nice server Anneliese took our order. My wife ordered the Idaho potato pancakes($ 7.95) served with apple sauce and sour cream, she said they were great. I ordered one of the house specials, Swedish pancakes($ 8.95) served with Lingonberry sauce. They were very thin and light. I was still hungry after I gobbled them up, but they were delicious. Reminded me of Paula’s Pancakes in Solvang. The menu offers pancakes in many flavors from blueberry, banana, coconut, chocolate chip, corn and of course, BACON! As well as waffles, crepes, omelettes and more. Next time we come I will have to order the country biscuits topped with bacon & sausage gravy. Family-friendly, homey atmosphere, kind of expensive, but scrumptiously delicious.

I had to update my last review and downgrade this place from 4 stars(see original review below) to 2 due to the flies. Wow, I’m surprised the health department doesn’t come out and cite them. There’s something called an air curtain that will help… A LOT! Also, not holding the door open by the hostess will help, too. The pancakes were doughy, not like last time, and the scrambled eggs were runny… ewwww. What’s going on here??? ORIGINALREVIEW4 Stars The pancakes are REALLY good and the OJ is soooooo fresh it’s ridiculous! The corned beef hash is so so and looks like a pancake. Stick with the sweet stuff and you can’t go wrong. On my first visit, I was annoyed by a fly, but this time around, it looks like they fixed that.

Okay, I am giving four stars specifically for the German Pancake, which was amazing! The Original Pancake House only recently opened in Whittier and at 9:30 am on a Sunday it was PACKED. We put our name in for two people and were told the wait would be about a half hour. It was just about exactly a half hour. It was a very hot day and there were a ton of people waiting outside to get in. They had a big container of lemon infused ice water out front for people and some umbrellas for makeshift shade. they kept refilling the water. Everyone who works there was super nice. I liked the added touch of the person walking you to your table sharing her name in a friendly gesture. Okay, so you need to order the German Pancake. I’d never had one before. It’s basically a gigantic pop-over that’s fallen in on itself. I don’t know if they make the best ones around because I’ve never had one elsewhere, but I will tell you it was super delicious and I already want to go back for MORE! We also had an order of pecan pancakes on the table — very good. Lots of pecans for a nice crunch compliment to the cake. And, an order of bacon, which was very good. The fresh-squeezed OJ was delicious. Tasted like I was drinking an orange! Only complaint on the food is that they charge you $ 2 extra for«real» maple syrup. Um. This is the original pancake house. I would think that when you order pancakes with maple syrup, they should automatically include the best maple syrup available. Anyway, other than that, it was great! Oh, and free refills on coffee. And only open for breakfast and lunch!

I was ecstatic when an OPH opened close to my place, which means that I don’t have to drive all the way to Anaheim. It’s along Whittier Blvd and Jordan Rd. You can’t miss it since there are always people waiting outside. They have their own parking lot but it also gets full on peak hours. Their menu is pretty straight forward. You got the pancakes, omelets, crepes and different kinds of sides. I’m a creature of habit, so I always order their corned beef hash. But for some random glitch in my brain(or stomach), I decided to order their 49er flapjack, with a side or corned beef hash, of course. Those flapjacks were amazing. Thin, gooey and had crispy edges. It’s like eating crêpe with a pancake texture. You won’t get fed up eating it like the regular pancake. Add a little bit of butter and syrup, and you’re set. Combined with the taste of the corned beef hash, you’ve got a perfect pair. Their service was on point on a Thursday morning. It got busier by 10 am so I guess the perfect time to be there on weekdays are between 7 — 9 am. It’s funny how people whine and complain about the wait times. People flock to OPH because, well, it’s OPH. So if you decide to come on busy hours, EXPECT to wait. To be fair, OPH should put up larger umbrellas and adequate shade for their customers waiting outside.

Thursday morning at about 11:30… This place was packed! The wait? 15 munutes for a party of two! As we waited we looked over the menu and chatted up some conversations with others waiting for their table! A nice lady named Jo, was letting us know this place is only open in the mornings! No wonder in the afternoon this place looks abandoned! Nicely decorated, lots of booths and tables! This place can use is some counter seating for those that are a party of one! It has a nice open space feel! We already new what we wanted when the waitress came so we wasted no time on that! Coffee and a carbonated beverage(Pepsi) to drink. I had the Country Fried Steak and the hubby had the Ground Beef and Eggs with two different kinds of cheese! It was missing some spice but other than that so good! He got the regular buttermilk pancakes, which were also very tasty! I substituted my pancakes for the PECANPANCAKES! I’m usually a Plain Jane when it comes to food and slowly I’ve been stepping out of my comfort zone and this was a big step the I am not sorry for! My coffee kept getting refilled and the waitress was very friendly! She let us know the portions were very generous but we still decided to try two different dishes! They can easily be shared between two! Definitely give this place a try if in the area but remember this establishment closes at 2pm! Lots of parking… just make sure your on the correct side! The burger joint on the left side will tow your vehicle! FOUR stars! Will be coming back!
