I got my bachelor’s degree in community development and my master’s degree in international relations. My goal was to work with a humanitarian organization, but when I graduated in 2008, the economy crashed and no one was hiring.

While I was unemployed and looking for work, I started doing random graphic design gigs for friends. That led to referrals to people I didn’t know. I taught myself web design to add to my skills, and eventually it started bringing in a decent income.
