Parnell Park

This park is old and dated. The kids playground is a hazard. There are holes that little kids can trip over on the playground. And someone had the brilliant idea of putting a sharp Metal construction zone block on the playground to cover a hole.
The petting zoo looks nice but it was closed.
I would go to this park only as a last resort.

Children hit a goldmine when coming to Parnell Park and adults do too with all the activities this spot has to offer in distracting kids while their parents take a breather!
As soon as you arrive you are greeted with a small barn filled with chickens, ducks, pigs, and donkeys! Kids surround this area with wide eyes and giggles. I even caught a few adults (…meaning myself) freaking out over all the cuteness of animals!
The playground is generous in size with a full basketball court and baseball field perfect for any challenge! The play set area has more than enough room with its long row of swings, a huge jungle gym, and other playground accessories!
Parnell Park is a safe park that takes pride in keeping itself clean and enjoyable. Not only is it a great spot to run around but it is the perfect place for a little stroll or even a nice picnic. Great park with family values.

Took my kiddos here for the first time and had a ton of fun. We really enjoyed seeing the animals and learning about them. The little zoo area is free and there are actually quite a few different animals for the kids to look at. We also played on the playground and the kids had a blast. Tons of grass to run and play in as well. Great park!

Easter Extravaganza is a great event at this park. $ 5 gets you everything offered. Jumper slides, egg hunt with lots of great candy, face painting, rock clinbing, train ride, picture with the Easter bunny, arts & crafts, photo booth, Balloon figurines. The food is extra. I really recommend this park for Easter time. Will definitely come back next year.

Love the playground here! There’s foam mats for the days I don’t want my kids to crawl in the sand and wood chips!
If you have more than one child, hard to see your kids from one spot. People always seem courteous, and area is clean.
Small FARM you can see small animals!
Plenty of parking, go to community center to use the bathroom… park bathroom is gross and has no soap!

A great senior center with awesome resources. They also hold free summer concerts with amazing food and live music.

Great park for the kids, Lots of fresh lawn area and lots of trees by the sides. Because… nothing worse than your kid running aimlessly into a large tree.
Parking is abundant too surrounding the park. If you are desperate for a space, you can park in the houses across the street. Yes there’s a kids playground area here too.
We came here because City of Whittier’s library had their summer reading program (which is mighty awesome I might add) party at this park here. It was crazy packed with kids but never felt cramped like those Disney lines.
We know about the Zoo and the movies in the park but have yet to take advantage of it.

Very good park. We have been here with Ian a few times, and the toddler that he is, he loves this park. This is a little bit farther than the other parks we frequent. Michelle from Tom’s Tailgate mentioned that Mr. Tom usually BBQ’s and has a stall at this park on certain days.
Pros:
Ample parking.
Very spacious. Lots of tables for picnic area under shade.
Entire playground for kids on soft rubber mat. (No sand or wood chips to worry about)
Free petting zoo.
Open air theater June — September playing kids movies.

Summer concert in the park at the old make out spot. Reggae music, happy people & the Special Olympians! Awesome time! My gf flaked but this chick knows how 2 have a good time solo.

During the months of June — Sept. they have «movie madness» nights where they show family movies sponsored by the City of Whittier. They have local vendors that sell kettle corn, funnel cakes, drinks, etc. They also have a booth sponsored by the Wyn Club — they have games for the kids.
They put up a huge movie screen and have surround sound. Bring your chairs, blankets, etc. and have a great time.

Large park with picnic tables, playground, basketball court, and large grass field. Pretty ample parking space. I think a lot of events/​carnivals are held here. Highly recommend for folks with toddlers that need to release much energy.

Had our Grandmas 90 th surprise birthday party here. And it was amazing the staff was very helpful. We had it in banquet room 3 & 4. It is $ 85 per hour but they do provide all the tables chair and sinks. She was very surprised she thought she was going to the park with one of her grandkids so it was perfect. They have 2 other bigger rooms but the price per hour just goes up. I have to say the staff that helped us that night was very helpful. They check on us to see if we need anything I ask for another table and within 5 min they rolled it out. I was very impressed. I recommend this place but only down fall is if you want alcohol it gets very expensive.

I have a large amount off memories at this park from when I was a child… none that are particularly amazing… but I do have quiet a few…
…I reccently came here when I was Geocaching with a friend. this location (like most parks) has a lot of great hiding places for things like Geocaches for those who have explored the entire park (as children often seem to do.)

I love taking my son to the free petting zoo. The playground is pretty decent, wide open spaces to run and play, and tons of tables to throw a birthday party. We love it and come here frequently.

This park is always the popular park to have parties at. They have tons of tables and a big grass area to play games and for kids to run around. There is a basketball court and a big playground. This park always holds events like movies in the park or concerts in the park. It always gets really packed and leaves no parking but the events are so much fun to come to.
Being that this park is so popular to have parties at you have to get here early to save enough tables, even though there are so many they go fast. And the parking goes faster.
They also have a zoo that is free to the public. They don’t have a ton of animals but they have enough to get the kids excited to see them and walk around.
If you havent been to a concert in the park you should go at least once.

Clean bathroom facilities and of course don’t forget to visit the barn located off of Lambert. They have plenty of animals that are a big hit with the kids.

I love good parks and this one is a good one.
Father and son day. I needed a place for the boy to run around and burn up some youthful energy. Lol.
One we got there he started with the play area. Perfect for young kids. After half an hour of running up and down the slide we walked through the park to the other end where the zoo is.
The zoo entrance has a giant pigeon steel sculpture. Very unique. Lol
The zoo’s star residents are two miniature horses. Leo and Duke. But they are not alone. They had a pig, a couple of alpacas (never seen those before), a bunch of giant turtles, rabbits, goose, turkey, chickens and roosters.
It’s zoo was small but my son & I had a great time here. And it’s Free. You can’t beat that.
Awesome Park!

nice little park just off lambert. not overly huge, but it had plenty of benches for picnics. it looked like there were some small birthday parties that were being prepared, but we snuck in to have our sandwiches. some guy was singing loudly and badly by himself, but overall, it seemed like it was an ok park for families to bring children and take a nap in the shade.
the small zoo was a nice little touch. roosters, chickens, turkeys, pigeons, desert tortoises, ponies, some llama or goat. a couple of roosters got out into the area outside the zoo, but i guess they don’t stray too far? it was awfully hot today, so i think the animals in the mini-​barn area were pretty miserable, and we were the same, but it seems like a nice little park to visit again. i could give this park a 3-​star for a slight lack of cleanliness, and not being overly huge to make it appealing to hang out a long time, but i bump it up to a 4-​star for having plenty of parking, the zoo, a fair amount of shaded areas and tables.

This park is great and all, but the bathrooms are always out of toilet paper and they are less than mediocre.

This beautiful pleasant east Whittier park has so much to offer and benefits the community in many ways. The addition of a new community and senior center a few years ago provides many programs and activities for all ages. Weekly bingo is very popular with the seniors.
There’s a good sized spacious shady picnic area with grills and lots of picnic tables. Every weekend you’ll find families celebrating birthdays. A nice playground for the kids, an excellent basketball court with a huge grass field. The free music concert series every summer brings the neighbors together for fun, food and an enjoyable entertaining evening.
The most wonderful offering of the park is its small in size, enormous in smiles, charming animal zoo. So much joy and happiness on the faces of the children who visit with Duke and Leo, two popular irresistible miniature horses. There’s Franky, the lovable lackadaisical pig. Along with their friends of goats, rabbits, turtles, chickens, geese, ducks and caged birds.
I can remember bringing my daughter here as a little girl and hoisting her on my shoulders while visiting the donkey who used to live here. So much fun and heart warming cherished memories. She will always be daddy’s little girl. She’s the youngest, and only girl of three.
