The food is really good, but its so uncomfortable sitting in there and taking your order. i walked in and the manager didn’t even knowledge that i was there i had to say«I’m ready to order» in order for him to stand up and he gave me a ‘ugh seriously’ look. like if u don’t like your job then leave. if it wasn’t for the crappy manager i would come more often but i don’t even want to step foot in the door.

The«decent» food cannot overcome the fact that the manager is EXTREMELY unfriendly. Even the policies(restroom for customers only)(only 1 refill allowed with meal)(charge for debit under $ 5) reflect his unfriendly and overall terrible personality. The customer service is awful, he will give you attitude for absolutely no reason. Which is strange considering the competition in the area, one would think he would be more warm and courteous towards his customers. Needless to say, I will not be patronizing any longer.

I went to this place because of a coupon I received in a mailer. I love Hawaiin BBQ so I decided to give it a try. I got the feeling he was upset that I used a coupon but thought I was just imagining it. We were eating our food and saying to ourselves that this is gonna be our new spot since it’s so close. My kid brother just finished his soda and a went up there to get a refill. Then the owner tells me I can’t have a refill. I ask him why and he says because I used a coupon I can’t have a refill. I tell him that’s not right that his sign says 1 refill per drink for any combo ordered. He then says he doesn’t care and that he made no money off of me because I used a coupon. I told him I would never come back and he said he doesn’t care. I just don’t get it. Why put out the coupon if you don’t want people to use it. I liked this place but will never go back, which is said because we enjoyed our food.

I’ve been here twice now since I moved into the area this past September. At first, I thought the owner wasn’t very inviting/nice. However, on my second visit, I started a nice conversation with him(opened with a compliment on the tasty food), and I found that he’s nice and reasonably friendly if you’re courteous as well. He can come across as direct, which is easy to mistake as unfriendly, which may be more of a cultural thing with Asians. Unfortunately, business is slow but on the good side, there’s rarely a line. The menu features some good local Hawaiian choices, just like L&L Hawaiian BBQ. This place also sells a decent selection of Hawaiian Sun canned drinks. The plate lunches have a substantial portion of meat, so you won’t leave feeling hungry. Other reviews are true about the chicken: you’ll find that some of the cuts still have some cartilage or fat. It’s not a deal breaker, though, since the chicken is pretty tasty. However, the macaroni salad could use less mayonnaise, and the scoops of rice are somewhat skimpy especially by Hawaiian standards. The restaurant is very clean and inviting. Sometimes you’ll find them playing blu-ray movies like«Iron Man» on one of the big screen TVs. The owner told me he’s been here for about 6 years, and I hope business picks up so they’ll be around longer.

Kept giving this place the benefit of the doubt because taste-wise, I’ve enjoyed enough the Kahlua Pork and BBQ Beef. But geez the last 3 times I’ve gotten a chicken dish(teriyaki and cutlet) there’s been tiny fragments of bone or a piece of cartilage and that just gets my gag reflexes going and I lose my appetite. The last straw is that the past two times, I’ve found wiry stringy things in my dish. Looks like that green scrub part that’s on a dishwashing sponge. Yeh… not going to come here anymore.

I love this place, i’ve been coming here for years. I love the macaroni salad and the bbq mix combo which is really delicious, the service is great except for the owner’s brash approach to serving customers sometimes. The place is always clean, the food is always abundant and delicious and it’s conveniently located to shops and ice cream parlor =) Give it a try… i guarantee you won’t regret it.

We went to this restaurant because of the coupon we got from the mail. When we entered, we were in good mood and immediately said ‘hi’ to the owner. The owner was very unfriendly and did not even smile back. When we got our food(which in fairness had good amount of meat), the rice portion was sooo small. It looked like 2 small scoops of Ice cream. Because we bought two combos, we requested the cashier To give us a bit more rice. She said yes and went back to get more rice. The owner intercepted her and told her to charge us 93cents for more rice. Although i understand that they want to make as much money as they possibly can, I think this is an example of very bad customer service. The experience going this retaurant is very unwelcoming. It didn’t feel right because the owner didn’t seem like he wanted to be there.

The owner is a nasty mean jerk. I paid top dollar for a soda and he would not let me refill it. There was no sign saying no refills. And he was very angry at my attempt. Every other place allows refills… I will never go back to such an unfriendly place

I walk into this joint last night at 8:40 pm. The sign outside says they close at 9pm. The entire staff proceeds to give me the look of death. Now, I understand that it’s NEAR closing time. But, it ain’t quittin’ time just yet folks. So, spare me the looks of despair and smart ass comments from the cook about it ALMOST being 9pm. Yes, I heard you from behind the grill. You are louder than you think, my friend. Seriously, another order of BBQ chicken wasn’t going to kill anyone. Geez! Oh, and then the cashier proceeds to tell me,“You’ll have to take your order to go since we are about to close.” Not only do the employees hate their jobs but the food here is subpar. The good thing is that the food is cheap. I ordered a BBQ chicken mini meal for under $ 5. I was suprised with the amount of chicken that they gave me. Chicken was good but the macaroni salad is bland. Mini meal also includes scoop of white rice. I like the fact that they have a large selection of Hawaiian Sun drinks to choose from but their customer service sucks. I’ve had much better Hawaiian food from places that actually appreciate their customers. Aloha.

I’ve come here a few times expecting to be impressed but always leave disappointed. The food is just«okay». The thing that really irks me though is the fat, tendons & stringy bits that are left on the chicken. These are not fun to bite into. If you are starving and in the area, and for some odd reason no other restaurant around is serving food then it would be safe to eat here. Otherwise, there really is no reason to settle. Thai Table, Red Robin, Mimi’s and Panera are all within walking distance and all are far better.

not the best hawaiian i’ve ever had but not the worst either. i had the half and half combo that included macaroni salad rice and the choice of two meat items. i went with a shredded pork that reminded me a lot of carnitas in looks and grilled chicken. the chicken was decent but nothing to write home about but the pork was awful. if i had to eat here again i would probably just order a side of their white rice and a side of macaroni salad.

We always order the half and half combo of Chicken Katsu and the Bbq Beef. It’s delicious. Although I find it pricey for a fast food. I can get a delicious fast food for $ 6 bucks. W/this one I spend $ 9 for a meal. But I still like it. It’s a quick fix when we want a quick order of Hawaiian Bbq since they serve the food fast and the place is 5 mins. away from our house.

A friend of mine turned me onto this place, first by buying me a BBQ combo and bringing it to my house — that’s a great way to turn me onto something. Maui has my favorite macaroni salad of any Hawaiian BBQ place I’ve ever eaten — hands down. There’s something about it that can tame even the hottest tongue brought on by far too much Sriracha. The rice here is super sticky, and perfect without any shoyu. I’ve had a few different dishes from Maui and they have all been consistent in flavor and generous portions: –Kalua Pork is very tasty, and sopping with juicy-goodness –BBQ Mix Combo is a fail-safe option –Kalbi is cooked well and very good, though can have a good amount of fat on it Prices are a small bit cheaper than surrounding Hawaiian BBQ spots, even though it’s the further choice, I’d rather drive there. A plus of eating-in is that there will always be a movie on — sometimes it’ll even be one that’s still in the theaters ;) I would be lying if I said I’ve never seen a boob on that TV screen, that’s class.

I got the loco moco, and was satisfied with the portion size. However, I am not so impressed with the service. The man at the counter, who I presume to be the owner, didn’t seem all that friendly. He did what he had to do, which was to take the order, say thank you, and give me my food. I was hoping the loco moco would come with spam, but it came with 2 pieces of hamburger patties instead. Meat was a little overcooked for my liking. Can’t say I’m a fan of the place, but if I’m ever in the area while craving Hawaiian, then I might give it another shot.

Located in the food court area of the new revamped Whitwood Mall, we decided to try this place out. As we walked in, noticed the A outside the door, very clean, but a bit lonely being that it was lunch time, so hesitated a little. Ordered my food. Got the #1 chicken combo, which came a with a generous amount of grilled chicken(skinless) on a bed of cabbage, great macaroni salad, and some sticky rice. Food was really good! Big portions! Woud definitely come again, say what?, if i was in the area.

After working out today at the LA Fitness I was really hungry so I decided to try this place. I’ve been to a similar place called Ono Hawaiian BBQ in Temple City and I really enjoyed Ono so I wanted to see how this place compared. The only thing I ordered at Ono was their BBQ combo mix. So I ordered the Hawaiian BBQ Mix. For $ 7.69 you get a lot of food. You get boneless teriyaki chicken, Koran style short ribs, BBQ beef(tender thin slices of beef), rice and macaroni salad. All three meats were extremely tender and juicy. The short ribs and the bbq beef are marinaded in a slightly sweet teriyaki sauce with a little bit of ginger. The chicken was also marinaded in a slightly sweet teriyaki sauce but with no ginger. What I like about this place is that the meat is not sopping wet with sauce. Here they are just right. Under most circumstances I would have brought home left overs but I’m telling you I was hungry and I ate everything. The restaurant was clean and they have a counter with a couple of sauces for your food. Yes, I will be back.
