History

Established in 1985.

Dr. John Sudick began his quest for dentistry as valedictorian of Sierra High School Class of 1977. He is an Eagle Scout recipient for his work, community service, and honors in the Boy Scouts of America. He recieved scholarship to attend the University of Southern California where he distinguished himself in Biological Sciences. He was accepted into several top dental schools across the country including USC Dental School where he earned his DDS degree in 1985. He married Pany in the Summer of 1985 and took over the practice of Paul Standlee in Uptown Whittier. Since this humble beginning, Dr. Sudick has continued to distinguish himself in implant prosthetics or teeth and total patient care with comfortable comprehensive dentistry over many generations of families here in the Whittier and surrounding areas. He personally designed his current high tech modern dental office. In 2015, Dr. Sudick was awarded Best of The Best Dentist in Whittier by the Chamber and City of Whittier.

Dr. John Sudick is a USC Dental School Graduate with 30 years experience in general, implant, and prosthetic dentistry. He has distinguished himself in the Whittier community with his professional, caring, and comprehensive dentistry covering many generations of families. Voted Best of the Best Whittier Dentist of 2014 – 15 and recognised by the Whitier Chamber. He has been honored by many organizations in Whittier. These include the Whittier Assistance League, Boy Scouts of America, Whittier Soup Kitchen, Whittier Winter Shelter, Whittier Resource Center, Oralingua School for hearing impaired, Womens and Childrens Crisis Center, Intercommunity Counseling Center, Hillcrest Congregational Church and others. Dr. Sudick has been married over 30 years and is proud of his three college bound children. He is active in their lives and loves to travel. He is proud to have been an assistant scoutmaster of Troop 710, and enjoys camping, hiking, skiing, kayaking, woodworking, and photograph

My kids and I looooove Dr. Sudick and his staff! I was so happy to find him for various reasons, but primarily because he has an EXCELLENT bedside manner. He thoroughly explains everything and treats you like a person. Imagine that! A doctor who talks to you instead of talking down at you!
Is it me or is it getting hard to find caring medical professionals like him?
Speaking of which I originally went to him for a second opinion regarding a cosmetic dentistry issue, but in passing mentioned that my regular dentist recommended that I get braces first and that she wanted to have me do them through her office with invisalign (since she’d recently gone through training). Dr. Suddick listened and then explained that he would recommend that I go to an orthodontist because they trained specifically for that as opposed to taking a couple of hours worth of seminars to be able to sell you a product. He recommended two orthodonists (one of which was the one his own kids went to).
Now isn’t that the ultimate sign of a caring professional? Having him/​her recommend the expertise of someone he would refer his own family to?
He takes the time to explain things… even to my children. He shows them pictures of the plaque build up that has taken place when they don’t floss enough as well as how bacteria «poop» is what creates the film that they see on the pictures. All the nagging I do isn’t anywhere near as effective as his explanations and I APPRECIATE the extra time he takes to do this.
I know that going to him may not be the cheapest option, but your teeth (that you hope to keep for as long as possible) are such an important part of your image and health, that for me it is not a splurge as much as it is an investment.
Anyhow, we love him and I know that if you’re looking for a dentist and give him a try you will too.

Dr. Sudick and staff were all super friendly and knowledgeable. Went to the dentist for the first time in a long time, and the experience was great. Lots of my questions got answered!
They were able to set up an appointment on short notice and super transparent with respect to fees and insurance coverage questions I had. Dr Sudick personally went over the treatment plan we built to get my grill in shape.

I was looking for a dentist in the area and decided to come here after reading the reviews. What a professional and friendly office including the office and dental staff! I got a very thorough exam (the best I’ve had so far). I came back for a cleaning and the hygienist did a great job as well. I haven’t had any work done but based on what I’ve seen so far, I’ll defiantly be back.

I have lived in Whittier for about 11 years and had been to several dentists and none were a good fit until I found Dr.Sudick.
Very friendly, on time and very through. I felt comfortable from the moment I walked in the door.
In fact, I had to ride my bike to my last appointment and I had low tires and Dr. Sudick put air in them for me !!
My husband and I both would recommend Dr. Sudick to anyone!

Initially the experience was good. The doctor was thorough and kind and the hygienist was excellent. My dissatisfaction stems from what I was being told versus what I actually received. I was misled.
I was referred by a dear friend of mine so I decided to schedule an appointment for my yearly examination and cleaning. Just your standard dental check-​up. When I contacted the office I asked very clearly if my insurance would be accepted and my services be covered, which the receptionist/​office manager (Lori) ensured that it was (Delta Dental PPO). I gave my insurance information and was good to go. I’m thinking my insurance will cover everything because why would I think otherwise? At no point did they ever disclose to me that they are Delta Premier and a non PPO provider and will consequently be paying out of pocket fees (I find this out later). At no point did the front office person go over benefits I was eligible for even when asking about my insurance being accepted.
What happened:
I arrive, and through consult, the doctor stated that it would be a good idea to get a full set of x-​rays. I’m thinking «of course that is standard, absolutely.» He then notes that I can only get them every five years, but if you haven’t been to the dentist in quite some time, it might be a good idea. He stated «it would be like 40 bucks.» He checks my insurance information and says it’s been four years (could’ve been 3 I can’t remember) so there will be some out of pocket fee (again, he states «40 something dollars»). And being concerned about my health, and considering the cost was low, I thought to myself: Why not? I moved forward with the x-​rays, general exam, and teeth cleaning. Before leaving, I check with the billing/​receptionist regarding payment again and she advises the same and to wait a statement in the mail and not to worry. Big mistake.
Flash forward to my billing statement a month later and I am being charged $ 185.00. Mind you this is for a yearly check-​up. They charged me for:

Giving them the benefit of the doubt, I call for clarification and am thinking this is just a mistake and that medical billing is strange sometimes. Lori let me know that in fact it is correct and that «for whatever reason» my insurance is only accepting 100% of what they were offering through my benefits (the amounts of what they covered were significantly lower). This is also the first time she mentions the words Delta Premier. She essentially tells me sorry and does not take ownership or help in any way.
The problem I have is that had I known I would have completely bypassed the additional x-​rays and this dentist in general. I could have gone to a provider where my insurance is fully accepted. I should not be paying 185 $ out of pocket, but unfortunately I do not have a choice.
I voiced my concerns with the office and will notify my insurance of what happened. The quality of your ethics are just as valuable as your services.

Not my first crown fitted by dr Sudick and maybe not my last but it fit perfectly with no further filing of tooth. As a patient I am always treated with respect and professionalism. If you are looking for a dentist who will provide excellent dental in at atmosphere of «small town dentist «I would recommend this dental practice.

Wonderful people & excellent customer service. They took their time with my son, explained everything and made us feel right at home. My boy (age nine) had an abscess that needed to be treated. Same day, I was able to book an appointment (as a new patient) and was in and out without having to wait around for hours. We really like our new Dentist he has such a great personality, is funny and knows how to deal with kids. I’m really glad I found this place.

Dr Sudick is an amazing dentist. My whole family has seen Dr. Sudick for the past 15 years. I started my kids very young with his office. He is so good with kids and very patient. It made it easier for all of us to see the same dentist. My kids love going to the dentist and are never nervous for any fillings they might need done. The office is extremely clean and remodeled. Dr Sudick has all of the state of the art equipment and takes good care of our family. His office staff is wonderful including his office manager Lori who is friendly and caring. Love love love this office. Would highly recommend!

Coming to Dr Sudick was the best decision I have made. My old dentist was ok but I wasn’t satisfied any more. I looked up on Unilocal and saw 5 stars, best Dentist 2014 – 2015 and great reviews. From the time I walked in the door the staff made me feel welcome like they were friends and I felt comfortable.
Dr Sudick was great and a very calming person. I need extensive dental work which will be on going for a while but we started with X-​rays and cleaning and an appointment to come back for a plan. A few days later an entire detailed plan with costs was explained to me so I knew exactly what was going on.
First a couple cavities had to be taken care of before we went on to the larger issues. Before I left the office he suggested I take a couple ibuprofen so when the shots wore off I would have something in my system already. Well when it did wear off … I NEVER HAD PAIN! I would highly recommend Dr Sudick and staff !

I want to thank Dr. Sudick and his wonderful staff for being able to accommodate me on such short notice. They were very helpful and made me feel at ease even though I was in a lot of pain. His wife Penny was very helpful as well. In the front desk. They were able to help me get an appointment for my tooth extraction soon! Thank you all for the help and concern with my toothache. I had not been to the dentist in years. My husband recommended me to come to Dr. Sudick’s office and I’m glad I did. He was amazing. His staff is really friendly and he is very thorough. After avoiding the dentist for years I finally decided to take my oral hygiene seriously, and found Dr. Sudick through Unilocal. He is an excellent dentist and very thorough for your initial visit. You can tell he cares about his patients. Also, the staff is very welcoming and really works with your schedule to see Dr. Sudick. Laslty, Dr. Sudick works with an online service where you can check appointments, bills, etc.

As a member of the «dental chicken» club, I am very particular about whom I let work on my teeth. A few years back my dentist of about 15 years moved his practice out of town for family reasons. Since then, I have been bouncing around from dental office to dental office looking for that similar «light» handling, and sure-​fire distraction technique to make any dental work less painful. Happy to report I found him. Dr. Sudick is the perfect dentist for the type of patient I am. He explains the procedure in detail before he executes them so that there is no «fear» of what is happening or what is going to happen. He is great at applying distraction techniques so that no pain is felt during the procedure. He constantly gages for your comfort level and will pause if needed. He truly cares about the comfort of his patients and the health of their teeth. There is no ‘up sell’ on any services and his staff is very accommodating (thanks Laurie) to patients needs. I am thankful that I have found Dr. Sudick and even more thankful that his practice is in my backyard! I can stop bouncing around now!

from entrance to exit this man was amazingly sweet. I usually need Valium or Ativan for the anxiety I suffer from going in for dental procedures. today I went in for a tooth extraction and as I started panicking he totally talked me down. he was sincere and genuine. I really appreciated his professionalism and calm demeanor. I didn’t need sedation after all. he numbed the area pulled the tooth and that was it. Unless you’re a masochist, few people enjoy going to the dentist. But since dental hygiene should be a regular part of your health care, then Dr. John Sudick is the dentist of the century. My partner and I have been going to Dr. Sudick for the last 20 years and we have nothing but praise for him. He is professional, knowledgeable and personable. In fact, his whole staff is wonderful because Dr. Sudick has created the kind of office climate that encourages professionalism on all levels. We particularly commend Dr. Sudick for taking time with his patients and explaining procedures very thoroughly. My partner particularly has had dental problems, but thanks to his care, she has not had to have all of her teeth removed. In short, his care has provided both of us with excellent care. If you are looking for a dentist, then I strongly recommend Dr. John Sudick!

Dr. Sudick is the best! He is knowledgeable, professional, honest, and patient. His office has the latest technology for dental care. He goes way above and beyond what most dentists would do. He has spent a considerable amount of his personal time reviewing, researching, and consulting regarding my treatment plan, as I have a unusually difficult case. He truly does put patient care at the front of his business. Having Dr. Sudick as my dentist leaves me with the feeling everyone should have when it comes to ANY health care provider. I just moved to Whittier and was looking for a local dentist. Dr. Sudick had great reviews here on Unilocal,so why not? If just the mention of dentist makes you want to run the other way, you haven’t had a dentist like Dr. Sudick. I was impressed by the state of the art equipment he had including a camera that magnifies each tooth 1000 times (Believe me I was embarrassed. Dr Sudick good naturedly assured me it’s all part of the wear and tear of using teeth). He explains each procedure thoroughly without being condescending. The evening I went in to have my tooth prepped and fitted for a temporary crown, lo and behold, Dr. Sudick called to ask how I was doing and if I felt any pain or discomfort, I could come in the next day. I’m sold. Dr Sudick is a keeper as far as dentists are concerned!

I was referred to Dr. Sudick by my sister in-​law. She has always raved about him and how wonderful he is. I finally have dental coverage that allows me to visit Dr. Sudick and I now know why she referred me.
The entire staff is warm and inviting. It is clear that patient care is a priority. They do everything they can to create a relaxing environment, check in on how you are doing and explaining what they are doing and why.

I hadn’t been to a dentist since my late teens due to prior bad experiences with orthos and other dentists who made going to a dentist’s office… well, who made going to the dentist live up to every cliché imaginable. A friend referred me to Dr. Sudick’s office and it was by far the best thing I have done for my oral hygiene since I was a child. He and his staff were supportive, caring, and made my return to a dentist’s office a dream. Dr. Sudick and his staff are simply awesome! This was about a year ago and since then I have gone from cavity ridden teeth and diseased/​damaged gums to a healthy smile!
I have continued to go back for my cleanings and plan to continue going to Dr. Sudick for years to come! I even bring my headphones to hear my fav playlists as my mouth gets its quarterly maintenance. Thank you Dr. Sudick and staff!
